Monte -- Congratulations!!! You FINISHED!!!!! How awesome!! You will really be rocking by January, so don't worry yourself at all! The pride of crossing the finish line is worth more than any piece of medal or plastic. Don't worry -- in January you'll get some bling seriously worth having!!!
Oh, and I have heard that moleskin is very effective, though I have not yet used it. After January's race, I had terrible blisters that covered the balls of my feet and went up between the toes, spreading them apart. I had never experienced that before, but am certainly going to be glad to hear the advice here on preventative measures for this year's race.
Bill, this had me
and believe me, right now that is NOT good! But, I was also thinking last week when Judy said "PR or the ER" that if she didn't PR I'd tell her I was sure it was because she jsut wanted to check out whether the medical guys there were as cute as at WDW!!!
Thank you, everyone, for your good WISHes on my back situation. Well, I really thought it was muscular, but the doctor said it is actually the upper ribs on the right side of my spine, and the muscular stuff is secondary. The ribs somehow got out of whack and are un-aligned causing this severe pain. The stress of that caused inflammation of the muscles on both sides of my spine. He did a chiropractic adjustment and is going to see if it "held" on Friday and if not, we'll figure out what steps to take to determine why this has happened all the sudden. I woke up in pain Friday and it has gotten progressively worse. He was not happy to hear about the miles Saturday, because even though I told him I mostly walked, rather than jogged, he said that fast walking and swinging the arms would have exacerbated the rib issue. Oh, okay. Hadn't thought of that. No "walking" or running right now. I am allowed to use the recumbent stationary bike, though. I am using voltaren, an anti-inflammatory, and did not use the valium I was supposed to take at bedtime last night. Just couldn't risk being groggy this morning. Maybe tonight, if I can get to sleep early enough.

Judy - No trip to the ER...Either a PR or the ER...One might think one reason you do these races is just to meet cute paramedics.Out of all the reasons to do races, I have to admit that this one did not cross my mind.
