Wk of May 18 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Hey team! I figured I'd better jump on here early this week or I'll lose track of everyone quickly.

Jackie--great job on the mile! (Hey, downhill courses don't matter. A mile is a mile. But I agree, the return mile up the hill is NOT one you want them to time, right? :) ).

Mike--that's a pretty decent workout after too much food and booze. I know I wouldn't have pulled it off. You'll put us all to shame if you keep doing that!

Tracy--WTG on the 4 miler!

Jen--good job on the miles this weekend and good luck on the 1/2 next week. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine. I mean seriously, how many 1/2's have you knocked out before? :thumbsup2

Scott--yes, yes it's me. I'll post even one more time early this week just to be sure. Good job on the miles this weekend. The competitive side of me reads a post from one of our Rabbit team members and I see, "Blah, blah, blah...26 miles....8-10 miles.....blah, blah, blah." Ok, so that's 34-36 more miles for our team total. Awesome (ok, you know I'm kidding, right??).

Duckie--nice job on the PR!!

Amy--I'm so sorry for you. Sounds like a rough week. Take it easy for a little while. Hope you're feeling better soon. (and remind Scott his posts from now on should read, "blah, blah, blah....194 miles....blah, blah, blah :thumbsup2 )

Liz--oh Liz, I hope you recover soon. I posted another reply to you on our team thread. Take care of yourself.

Jeff--good job on the 10 miler!

Michelle--sorry about the heat, but great job on the first 5K of the season! And a little word on the clipless pedals--I guarantee you WILL have at least one fall-over at a dead stop. Trust me, it just happens. I've had it happen three times in the past 3 years (and two of them were within the first month). Hopefully, you won't have as large of a fall as Liz. Most of the time, it's more the ego that's hurt than anything. And it is inevitable that it will happen at the most crowded intersection when there are at least 100 people around to see. :) But don't let that scare you away from the pedals. They are an absolutely AMAZING addition to the bike. Good luck on your training for the tri!

Vic--Hi! Good to see you're still alive and kicking!

Well, the weekend's been good. I got out for a 56 mile bike yesterday and a 5 mile run today. I have to say the shorter LRs on the weekends have been nice. Since I don't officially start training for Marine Corps until July, I'm going to take advantage of the single digit LRs until then. Does that make me lazy? ;) Krista said to tell everyone HI and she'll make sure to post tomorrow morning. She's too busy looking at the DIS Restaurant Food Porn thread. (I have no idea what that means, but all I heard is blah, blah, blah...Porn.). :confused3

Have a great week, all!

Steve

Last week's thread completely got away from me. :sad2:

Just wanted to pop in quickly to say that I did a 5K this morning, and even though it was really hilly (ok, it was only moderately hilly, but I wasn't really prepared for that), I managed to shave just under 2 minutes off of my previous PR. Yay! :yay:

Sorry this is an all about me post! I'll be back later to post a race report to that thread and catch up with folks on this thread. :)

No training to report as I rolled my ankle a bit yesterday. I was walking in the front yard and hit a divit. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: Anyhoo, its a little sore, so we'll give it a couple of days to heal.

You never told us that you lived on a golf course. Although having a tee box in my front yard would be a little too close for comfort. :lmao:

Bill

Big Vic, sorry to hear about that ankle! Rest up and I hope you feel better soon. Good to see you around!

MiaBanda, a guy told me a hilarious story yesterday about his first 60 mile bike race. He hadn't trained at all and crashed 30 minutes into the race when he clipped out on one side and not the other...Pizza'd. Bleeding. He was waiting for the bus to come pick him up and a cop stopped, called for back up. He asked him, "How long you been riding?" "About 30 minutes." "No, I mean how long have you been training?" "About 30 minutes." The guy felt bad for someone who was about the removed from the course by ambulance and then...the ambulance did a u-turn and stopped behind him....

Be careful on those clips!

Skfulkers
: Good to see you around! I don't think that makes you lazy...I think it makes you a good planner. ;) Say HI to Krista for me! Mmm...Disney food porn.... I never have any because I always think to photograph the food AFTER I ate it, and it wouldn't be as appealing then...

TXAng
: Way to go on shaving those minutes off! Woohoo! And I have been falling behind on the threads myself...

Hi, Bill! :yay: (I didn't see a waving smiley)

Liz, Hope you feel better.

I got my first workout done! Yay! My right calf started getting a little crampy for the last 5 minutes, so I slowed down my jogging. I used to get horrible cramps in my calves when I was a swimmer. I guess I'll have to up the bananas to at least once a day like when I swam to limit the cramping.

I stretched it out and DBF massaged it a little too!

Hi team!

I am way tired from a busy weekend, but here's the rundown:

Saturday
I got in my 9 mi long run and it was AWESOME! Total running nirvana the entire way. I was in such a groove that I scrapped my 9:1 intervals and ran 19:1 instead. 9 mi in 1:38:42.
I was supposed to go to hot yoga in the afternoon, but the nice weather was too good to pass up, so I practised some one-armed bicep curls with a pint or two of Velvet Fog on the patio of a great pub.
Sunday
I made up for Saturday's missed hot yoga session and it was a terrific class! In the afternoon the BF and I rode from my house to downtown so I could check out the route and how long it would take me to commute in. I think I found a good way to go that avoids uphills on the way into work, plus follows bike paths or quiet residential streets. Total ride? 25.4 mi in 2:07:54. The uphills on the way home, coupled with some intense wind, made things interesting, but I was only 10 - 12 minutes slower on the way back.

Total numbers for the week?
21 miles of running, 49.23 mi of biking, 3 hot yoga sessions and 2 boot camp sessions.
10:46:38
70.2 Mi

Oh Liz, that sounds awful! Here's some pixiedust: to help you feel better soon!

Just a quickie hello today to everyone! We had a really rainy day, so I went out for a run late (at about 8pm!), and cut it a bit short so that it wouldn't be too dark before I got home. I was wearing my Race Ready shirt for the first time (mine just arrived due to post office error), and I certainly didn't worry too much about cars seeing me in the evening light! It was really comfortable and I appreciated the brightness of the color.

Have a great week everyone!

:welcome: to all the new folks! It’s great to have you here.

Jen – LOVE the new haircut.

Debra – Hope y’all had a nice trip and a great race!

Jackie – A 9:45 mile? That’s awesome! Sorry to hear that DD’s soccer tournament didn’t go well.

Tracy – Nice job on the 4-miler.

Scott – I loved your race report. Did you say Vegas? VERY cool. Or, actually, it will be very hot there in July. I went once in August and thought I’d melt into a puddle on the sidewalk.

Amy – That’s so neat about your kids’ birthdays! My DS’s is 1/11. So sorry to hear about the food poisoning! Yuck!! Hope you’re feeling better. :wizard:

Mla1977 – WTG for getting out there and starting your C25K! Sorry to hear about the muscle cramps, though.

Vic – I hope your ankle feels better! :wizard:

Liz – Oh, no!! I’m so glad that nothing was broken, but it sounds like that was quite a fall! I hope you heal up quickly. :wizard:

Aloha Jeff – Congrats to DD for finishing preschool! Glad to hear that the vog is gone – that sounds like some nasty stuff.

MB Michelle – 102? Yikes!! Other than that, how was the 5K?

Steve – Hey! Good to see you! I love that food porn thread, though I suspect it doesn’t help my resolution to eat better.

Leana – What a busy weekend! You never cease to amaze me.

Ok, got my 5K report posted on the race reports thread. It includes baby pictures for those who are interested. :)

Friday after work we went out to get in some bike miles before dinner. Got about 4.5 miles from the house on a new trail, stopped to figure out which way to go, got my right foot caught in the toe clips (they're new) while unfortunately the bike was starting to lean so you can figure out what happened next. Fell about 1.5 feet off the path, into a drainage ditch and landed on very hard, sharp large rocks at the edge of the concrete sewer. Had to call an ambulance as once Patrick got the bike off of me and me off the rocks, I couldn't move my right leg w/o screaming. QUOTE]

Thank goodness, you weren't hurt worse. There is definitely a learning curve to clip-in pedals but keep at it, it does become second nature after awhile.
Years ago, Dh and I biked alot, daily 11 mile rides and longer weekend rides. I had been in clipped pedals for awhile when my husband decided to switch over.....it was something that gave the whole group we biked with a great deal of entertainment because Dh had a difficult time remembering he was clipped in. One Saturday on a 60 mile ride, everytime we planned for a stop, Dh would fall over. He was never hurt and he had a great humor about it, so it became the days entertainment for everyone to race ahead before a preplanned stop so they could watch Dh come in and fall over. :rotfl: :rotfl: He did finally get the hang of it and loved his clip pedals, but he definitely had a learning curve.

Good morning WISHers!!!!!

Welcome to all the new members!!!!!

Vic, TracyMy favorite is Jeff Gordon, not so much for his driving abilities but because he is cute:love: . Other then that I also like Dale Jr!!

Scott26M You rock!!!!!:thumbsup2

Sorry can't finish the catch up...gotta run. Have a great day!!!!

Kim

Happy Monday, WISHers!

Jackie, you are flying. Great job on that mile time!

Tracy, glad to hear that the air is clearing up for you down there and that you got a great walk in! It's been pretty chilly here (high 50s, low 60s) so I'll trade you weather!

Jen, you'll do great on your half!

Scott, I guess you'll just have to take more vacations so you have things to blog about! :)

Amy :worship: I need a nap just reading about all of that! I am hoping to sign up for a pilates class this summer held at the hospital wellness center. I'm looking forward to it!

Duckie yay for PRing!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Liz, oh my gosh!! I am so glad you weren't hurt more. Rest up and ice! Jeff used to cycle and I'm not sure of all the details but I know he saw a guy get injured really badly due to not being able to unclip in time so now he's adamantly anti-clip. It's totally a personal choice thing, you just have to be careful with those!

Jeff, what an adorable photo! Congrats to Princess #2. Good luck staying out of the VOG!

Michelle, oy that's HOT!! At least you did it!! Lesser persons would have just stayed in bed!

Steve, Disney Food Porn is the best thing on earth!! Yum!

Ang, congrats on the new PR!!

Leana, yay for running nirvana!! I just experienced that recently, it's so amazing!

As for me.. not much to report. Out for 3 yesterday morning.. the heavens decided to open and encourage our pace with big fat raindrops but it actually felt kind of refreshing. We cut short due to the rain but I was bound and determined to get in a full 3 so I ran circles around the parking lot! I felt like an idiot but I got the job done.

NRR, I got up early and arrived at Target at 8am open to pick up the Wii Fit and guess what's not being sold until Wednesday? Yup, despite the fact that Nintendo's website says it's being released today no one is selling it until the 21st. I was not a happy bunny!

Morning everyone!

Thanks for the well wishes. Decided to stay home today and rest/ice it. Figure if I want to enjoy the upcoming long weekend better rest it now. That is far more important than work. :cool2:

Jeff - your DDs are so cute! Congrats to Princess #2.

SamSam - I've used toe clips before but these are new ones and they didn't release the way I expected so.... Am going to take them off for a while.

Amy - ugh food poisoning. Hope you're feeling better!

Tracy - (best valley girl applied) We like so have to do lunch in Jan.

Steve - yes, in fact that makes you soooo lazy....sheesh. Tell Krista "hi!".

Vic - hope that ankle is doing better.

Michelle - WTG!!

HEY and WTG to everyone else!!

Daytime TV pretty much stinks so will surf for a while then think I'll toss in a movie around lunch. popcorn::

Just popping over to say "hi" and subscribe to the new week......

She's too busy looking at the DIS Restaurant Food Porn thread. (I have no idea what that means, but all I heard is blah, blah, blah...Porn.). :confused3

Good morning Wish team! Happy Monday!! I'm so glad that we have a long weekend coming up. :yay: :yay: Every little thing at work is driving me INSANE and I have zero motivation, I so need a day off. :) Just about 12 weeks from now, I'll have 12 weeks off. So looking forward to that!

Scott--You're from Westerville? I had no idea you were a fellow Buck! I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene College (it's University now) in Mount Vernon, OH. Westerville is pretty close to Mount Vernon, I had a few friends who did their student teaching there. Kings Island is still open in September, but I think they are only open on the weekends then. You guys could run the half on Saturday and hit KI on Sunday! By the way, very impressive numbers you've been putting out there.  (mine dance :teeth:)

Amy--So, was being huge pregnant in the dead of summer as bad as everyone is telling me it's going to be? I'm just glad the Olympics start on 8/8 this year, that will give me something to watch on either the sleepness nights before the baby is born, during labor, or the sleepness nights once he is here! I hope you have a much better week this week. Sorry last week was so tough for you. Take some time to rest now before you start ramping up the miles for Goofy training.

Liz--Oh my goodness, you poor thing! I hope you are feeling better! I'm so glad your injury wasn't as serious as it could have been. :wizard: :wizard: for a quick recovery.

Michelle Bella--102??? Yikes! Hopefully your tri will be much cooler, but at least the swim and the bike should keep you cool.

Jen--Good luck on your half this week! Should we expect some crazy taper posts from you?? ;)

Leana--You had some terrific wo's this weekend, I am so jealous!!!

Morgan--Way to get your miles in! Hey, the rule is to get your steps in, it doesn't specify HOW you get your steps in. :)

Jackie--Fantastic mile time! A mile is a mile, doesn't matter if it's uphill, downhill, or in cirlces (right, Morgan?).

Vic--:wizard: for your ankle! Hopefully you'll be back to new soon!

Howard--The end is near!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!! :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3:

Cam--I can't remember if I posted last week after you posted your wedding shoes, but I love them, they are very cute! And you should be able to wear them on Sunday after the half too!

Duckie--Congrats on the PR!!!

Aloha Jeff--:wizard: for Princess 1 and the Queen! Hope they feel better soon! I guess you can get sick even in paradise! Congrats to Princess 2 on her graduation! I love the picture.

Tracy--Nice 4 miler! Glad the smoke cleared up for you!

TX Ang--YAY for your PR!!!! 2 minutes is huge!!! :yay: :yay:

Kristi-- Did you survive the weekend??

Carrie--

Craig--How many days 'til Paris????? By the way, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and Martha!! Lesley is very sweet.

Question for the Mom's--When you were pregnant, did you find yourselves craving things you normally don't like? I detest hot dogs, will not touch them with a 10 foot pole, you know I've been dying for a hot dog for about a week now.

Cleveland Racer's--Can't wait to read your race reports!! Hope everything went well yesterday!

Nothing to report for me. I head back to the doctor on Thursday for a check-up, really hoping I didn't gain as much weight this month like I did last month! I still feel great, not too tired yet and while I definitely am feeling the extra weight, I don't feel too huge yet. The thing I hate the most is being so white because I can't hit the tanning bed like I do every spring. (I know, I know tanning is bad!)

I hope everyone has wonderful day!

Krista

Krista

I'm not a mom, but one of the girls I work with was talking about that the other day. She can eat spicy food and other things that she normally can't stand.

Hey folks!

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Matt's family took us out for our anniversary on Friday night. Yum. Saturday was my 5K and they a little laundry, but pretty much a nice, lazy day. Yesterday was pretty busy and then the dread of coming back to work on Monday. :goodvibes I was supposed to get up this morning and do my Pilates DVD, but that didn't happen. I just couldn't get out of bed. I plan to go the gym tonight and hopefully get it in when I get home.

Ang...Congrats on your PR!!!

Vic, Liz...:wizard:

Scott...Yay for another great week of training! You are really rockin those bike rides!!! Amazing my man!!! I really enjoyed your TR!!!

Amy... How are you feeling today? I hope have recovered from the food poisioning. I am so sorry things have been so hectic for you. Seems you have done a lot of XT! That is great... I hope today starts your week off in a good way!

Hope everyone has a great week! :thumbsup2

Man everyone moves so fast here!!! Just wanted to stop in and say hi while I still can follow most of the thread - by tomorrow I will be lost!! LOL

I just want to say congrats on everyone who got out there and did some running or other kind of training this weekend. I didn't get any in. But I must say that on Saturday my DH and my BIL put 3 more windows in my house (we are replacing all the windows - 15 windows total and 1 double french door - and that means messing up some of the stucco around the windows that needs to be redone) so while they were doing that my dad and I were getting 3 other windows ready to be stuccoed and we even got started on the first coat of stucco on those windows. Then yesterday I know I should have gotten out first thing in the morning but I just didn't feel like it. I ended up cleaning up my back room (where I have my TM) because it was becoming a mess and an obstacle course - LOL So I guess that all could be considered cross training but I am not considering it that. I do plan on getting out today or at least getting on the TM because I am most likely signing up for a 5k on Memorial Day.

Liz and Vic - I just wanted to say OUCH to both of you. Please take care of yourselves. Liz that sounds like a bad fall - good thing you had someone with you. Glad to hear it wasn't worse.

Vic, Tracy, Kim and other NASCAR fans I just have to post say congrats to Kasey Kahne. I guess you can say I am partial to Dale Jr because that is my DH's driver and how can you not like Dale Jr. but the driver I root for is Kurt Busch (I know, I know - people don't like him or his brother even though I like him too!!) see my original driver was Rusty Wallace and when he retired I just stuck with the #2 car - didn't hurt that I already thought Kurt was a good driver as well (don't know what has happened to him this year.)

Hello Team that's racing without me....

No training to report as I sit here *cough* waiting for the *cough* Bronchitis meds *cough* to straighten me out. *cough*

I'd just like to say, I for one, would never choose a favorite NASCAR driver just because he was cute.

Sincerely,

Judy Stewart
