Hey group, I haven't had much time to post since last week. But the plus side is I was busy with fun stuff. I missed reporting a few runs but I'm sure you'll survive without hearing them.
Today I got 2 miles in even with a later wake up then normal, I did it on the tm which I hate doing but it made me feel safer knowing that I could just stop running and get in the shower. I'm paranoid about being late for work. I also had a great moment where I went to get in the shower and caught my reflection in the mirror and noticed that my stomach is starting to get a little definition. It made me laugh because I have this great definition in the upper part of my abs but the lower part of my abs still are chunky. Hey the way I'm viewing this is at least the sit ups are doing some work some place! I'm going to have to start doing more workouts that target different areas.
I considered writing a letter about the ads run by PI and I know that lots of you have said their piece on it but I'm not sure I'll actually send a letter. But I thought I'd take the time to share why jogging is good enough for me and why I think their ads were insulting. I was a four season a year athlete. I've played soccer, hockey swimming and tennis all on competitive teams. I also ran hs track, though more for fun then anything. Up until I left college I could run forever, I was what they'd term a runner. A few years ago I started drinking a lot, mostly to distract myself from problems I couldn't solve. Over time I hated the person that made me and realized I'd become unhealthy. So I took up exercising again and became, gasp, a jogger. It's helped me to stop drinking, it makes me feel balanced when things are bad and it's helping me get healthy again. Some day I hope to get fast enough to be a "runner" but for now I'm proud to be a "jogger." And I can promise them that any day I go out for a run I'm pushing myself to the limit and back the way I did in all my sports. I might have my ipod on but the lyrics to me just provide me with the reminder to push harder and go further, athletes have long used music as a motivator, I don't think runners are any different. So you can safely say that I think this ad was a horrible attempt at making people who can go faster then others seem cool and it did a great job of making this company look elitist. I much prefer the ads that make me feel empowered not like I'm second class.
So those are my thoughts. Hope everyone here is doing well.
