WK of Jan 4 - WISH Walking/Running Club

I haven't been on the walking thread in a VERY long time...I have no plans right now for any events but have been back to walking since October. It feels good to be out getting fresh air and getting in the exercise. Thought it would be nice to get back over here to keep focused for those times when the thoughts of I just don't want to do it slip in. It has been raining here for two days though so no outside walking, yesterday was a planned day off but will hit the elliptical today instead of the track.

Also wanted to WISH everyone going down to do the Marathon weekend events safe travels and have lots of fun.:cheer2: :cheer2: Can't wait to hear all the reports next week and see those pictures.

Just got back from a quick jog.

For those of you NOT from the south... it's not the heat, its the HUMIDITY! Seriously, in ATL today with the rain it's probably 100% LOL. I just considered it training for Disney, but Suzanne posted on the weather thread that the humidity is HIGH right now and she's used to it! (Forecast calls for 60% humidity!)Allie's right we have rain up this way in AL and GA. However, in Atlanta we are NOT allowed to whine about rain. We would rather have rain that rationing!!

So drink up boys and girls!

And on a completely unrelated not that 50% of the population won't care about. After trashing one skirt company last week I think I have found a winner. I ordered the Commitment skirt from Skirtgodess.com LOVE IT! It's fit well, stays in place and has GREAT pockets! Wore it on my jog today and "it's going to Disney!" Now if we only got a discount there. I need to order more before they change it on me too LOL!

So the legs stay in place, no riding up?!?

Yes! The worked like they were suppose to! The only thing I wasn't sure of was the pockets. They don't have the little velcro tab like the others, but my key stayed in there with no problem.

Yeah, Hope this rain helps Allatoona and Lanier! :goodvibes

Now its FLOODING up here near Lanier!! When it rains it pours! They are expecting a temporary 3 foot jump in the lake level. That puts a bit of a dent in the 11 foot deficit.

Big Creek Runs across the main road of my neighborhood and the road is closed because the water is over the top. Its only an inch or so over but the current below is very strong. I feel a little sorry for the folks that built their houses down during the worst of the drought. They have moats this morning.

Well...... I guess if your house floods the "no complaining" rule is lifted!

We need it. My brother is considering turning his "lake house" into a dirt track. (All the docks on his cove at Lake Hartwell are on dry land with water a LONG way away! Wonder how much "extra" he paid for that "Dirt track" property?)

Awesome! I have a drawer full of skirts that the legs ride up. :sad2:

Hey all, I made it to SLC on the red-eye. Full plane, so no seats to lay down across and sleep over the ocean. Don't these people know I have some important running to do, and I need to be rested?

The University of Hawaii men's basketball team were all in the back of the plane sleeping. So the two trips I made to the lavatory, I had to climb over their feet and legs sticking out into the isle.

Another hour, and I'll be on my connection to MCO. Hope to get some sleep on this one.

Going to rustle up some grub.

See you all at Mickey & Minnie's place.

Thanks for checking in Jeff. That's a LONG flight for a race!

Isn't the view out the windows at that airport breathtaking? (And since you live in the land of sun... that white stuff is snow!)

Hi, Sunny! So happy to see you and THRILLED at the prospect of being at the start of the 2010 WDW 1/2 marathon together. I am taking my apron that you designed to WDW with me this weekend -- "20 Miles is a Long Way to Walk; 26.2 Miles is Life Changing". I think I remembered it precisely.

It is so nice to be hearing from WISHers who may not be with us this weekend in body, but will be with us in spirit. We will miss each and everyone of you and looking forward to the next time you are among WISH teammates!

Howard and I and Jenn and Andrew & our "adopted" daughter, Adrienne, all leave tomorrow morning. I am concerned about Jenn and Ade doing the 1/2 with very little training, but then again, they are 20 years old and probably can pull off all sorts of endurance events that I couldn't at my age -- those college all-nighters of studying have to count for something, right? LOL!

Howard and I will see you all at the WISH meet Friday (with the 3 kids, if we can drag them along). We'll also see you at the start or finish of all 3 races. Travel well, teammates! :cool1:

Cam,

I'll do 2010 with you!

Oh and don't forget about the other all nighters that college students pull (or wait, maybe that was just me :drinking1)

AFM - I may try to make it to TKD tonight or just go on Saturday and hop on the TM tonight instead.

Megan -- That would be awesome!! As soon as I get back from our "honeymoon" I am going to train for the Delaware Half Marathon that is in May. After that, I'll need 2010 WDW 1/2 to keep me motivated. It will be fun to share the training with you.

Tammy! Welcome back! How have you been? Way to keep up the walking. Any thoughts of another Disney race in your future?

Good Morning Everyone: :surfweb: I had a question about the start of the half. Can spectators be at the start? Any of you that have family and scream teamers with you, are they at the race start at all? Thanks.

Dave, the only family I had with me was Charlie who was participating so I don't have actual experience with this but I THINK they can only go as far as bag check-in. They can't come into the staging area i.e. Port-O-Pot City.

I seem to recall spectators gathered "outside" the corrals and along the course after the start. I'm not sure if they got there by following the runners or came around from the other side.

See you soon,

Chester

Thanks...doing much better now that I'm back to walking and losing weight. Life is crazy of course but hanging in there.

I know that I can't do 2010 but I'm thinking that I would love to give it a try again one day...maybe 2011 but we'll have to see how the $$ situation is once next year hits.

How have you been?

I'm outta here!! See you at the starting line on Saturday morning!!!

I did 3 miles into a 30 mph wind. It was a good work out even though I had planned to go farther and the wind slowed me down!

Hope you all have a wonderful trip!

Jennifer

Guess who just called me??????

Aloha Jeff!!!!!! He was at the airport in Orlando!! He was wandering why it was windy and rainy and what happened, I said I only ordered decent weather for Sat and Sun!! I also spoke with Marcia. They were waiting for the ME buses to get to there airport.
That was really nice and cool of them to call me!!!

Now, I feel jealous that I'm not there yet, Well Just one more sleep for me!!.

Tracy

I hear ya Tracy! I've gotten text messages from Dave (panda), Erica (Panda's better half) and ScottH. Nice that they think of me but makes it harder to wait the extra day!

BTW, thanks for re-arranging the weekend weather!
