Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

3 miles outside for me today...no intervals. I walked 5 min to warmup, then ran for 25 min, then walked it on in. First time outside in about a month...now I remember why I've come to appreciate the TM. I am enjoying the biking...not sure I should've registered for the duathlon, though. I really would have preferred to have a better running base built up so I could focus on the biking so we'll see how it goes.

Tracey...no worries, looks like Fay's heading this way but still early to tell. It will only be a tropical storm or Cat 1 hurricane at worst. That's doable... 2s and up are a different story ;) School starts Mon which is freaking a lot of folks out. We'll be certainly be watching.

bubba...congrats on your 5K!!!!

Terri...have buckets of fun on vaca! Impressive improvement on your pace!

Jeff: Lovin the photos of the rainbow and sunset and the princesses!!!

Off for my 6 miles....later......

Morning all! Well, I actually have a LR to report today!:cool1: According to my Garmin, the last time I ran outside was March 15th! Wasn't expecting much from my run, but was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. 6.0 miles in 55:ish (9:11 pace) My 3rd mile was actually at 8:50! I tell ya though, had it not been for the Olympics last night I don't know if I would've had the inspiration to get out and lace up. From Paula Radcliffe finishing the women's marathon after having to stop twice and walk and in obvious pain, Dara Torres awesome performance, and Michael Phelps aka Superman doing it again---then I read a quote from Michael Phelps this morning "Nothing is impossible. All you need is a little imagination" So, I headed out the door.

Stephanie: Nice job on the 6 miler and outside. Its nice to be outside even if it hot!! (I just hate getting on a TM)

Got in my taper 6 miles in. Feeling good. Now its a wait and see game with FAY - the tropical storm that is heading this way. May turn into a Cat. 1 as it comes up to mid-Florida. All those in the West Coast of FL, be careful. We are now in a Tropical Storm Watch. Ugh, its the waiting that sucks. But at least we have a warning and time to do something about it.

Have a great Sunday everyone and more Olympics on the way (and NASCAR!)
(weight loss now at 9lbs.)

We're all ready if Fay decides to head up towards the Tampa area! The cone of uncertainty is still quite large. I saw some computer models that have it heading out into the Gulf and eventually hitting Texas! weatherunderground.com has some really cool maps.

Have a good day everyone!

Amy

I'm Back again...

Forgot to mention I tried my RaceReady LD compression shorts this morning. They have pockets on the butt side. I am trying to eliminate carrying a fanny pack during events. I had my small digital camera, cell phone, lip balm and sunscreen stick with room for a bit more and it worked pretty well. It also has a hidden inside pocket on the front side. Think this will work great. Still have my spibelt that is small and lightweight Thinking I will use these for the DL 1/2. Here is a photo I took on my walk of the wild life at an entrance to a development that has a big waterfall area.

Hi All,

I got in a 5 miler this morning. I had an injured hamstring last month, so I'm easing my way back into running. I'm still very slow :snail: (I finished my 5 miler in the same time Stephanie finished her 6 miler), but at least I'm getting the miles in, right?

I hope that Fay stays away, or at least that it doesn't amount to much. Stay safe!

Have a great week everyone! :goodvibes

Quick run by.

Did my 16.25 miles today with a few guys from my running group. We got rained on between mile 2 and 4, so where I forgot to Bodyglide, got a little chaffed. Our average pace was 10:14 per mile.

Rest for a couple of hours before we head out for the first Girl Scout meeting of the new school year.

Have a good one everybody. Hope FAY stays AWAY!

Hello everyone!

Jeff - Awesome photos! A rainbow in paradise while on the beach! How much better can it get??? Oh wait...I know...you didn't have ice cream in hand! :lmao:
Tracy - I finally got in my 10 miler today so now I can taper too! Happy tapering and I hope FAY misses you! BTW - 2 MORE WEEKS TO DL!
Stephanie - WTG on the long run. I can't believe how fast you are! Love the Phelps quote...I'll have to remember that one.

AFM - I completed 10.5 miles this morning...my longest run to date! I was so excited when I got home. Not only had I done it, I did it in great time (for me) and I had no problems with the knee! :woohoo:

Michelle: I'm so excited that we can taper together, I did my LW last Sunday and my schedule has me taper for about 2 weeks. Yes, getting very excited and have started to put things together for packing.
Loving the "No ICE CREAM" for Jeff, maybe it would melt too much on the beach. With Jeff doing his 30 miles today -:lmao: I think he will be skipping along during the DL 1/2. I definately agree that he will have lots of time to get the rest of us WISHers some after race snacks, drinks and iced towelletes. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Hello Everyone!

Didn't do anything today, but did 4 miles yesterday. I was visiting friends in Nashville and forgot the Garmin so I don't have a clue what the time was, but 4 miles was the Galloway Group goal so I did it on my own. Jogged all of miles 1 and 4 and took a couple of walk breaks on 2 and 3. Still more jogging then with Galloway.

Jeff the photos are great!

Everyone if Florida stay safe. We in GA are hoping that Fay dumps rain up here. We need it!

Checking in here!

Jeff those pictures are awesome! I am really inspired by all the great things you do with your girls. You guys always seem to be out having a great time!

I went out and did 8 miles today. It was a bit of a struggle - I had side stitches for a while (which almost never happens to me), but I pushed my way through them. Actually I felt pretty good about it since I was out late last night celebrating my sister's wedding yesterday and definitely ate and drank way more than my body is used to! At least I got to sleep late this morning.

The wedding was very nice. It was a small event (just immediate family), and she pulled it together pretty quickly since my brother in the Navy was able to get last-minute leave and come this weekend. She and her husband have 2 adorable kids already (a 2 year old boy and 6 month old girl), so this was just making it official! They make a great family, and I was so happy that they could celebrate their relationship this way.

Running-wise next week should be a big one for me. I have a 10-miler on the schedule for Saturday, and then I'll be running a 5K race Sunday morning! So I'll almost be simulating my half-marathon. I'm looking forward to it (I think).

Hi everyone! This weekend was stellar here. I managed to get out and play in it too!

Jeff, those pics are wonderful.

Stephanie, I'm happy to hear that you had a good outdoor run. Wow! You did great!

Oh come on now, I haven't done 30 miles (well technically 39.9) miles since January 12th & 13th, and even that wasn't very hard. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2::laughing:

I'll be scream teaming at the end of the half, with a Jamba Juice in hand, or something stronger if I can find something open that early :rolleyes1. Robert & Wendy, any "Red Cup" stops at the end of the course?

Maybe if you detour in the last mile of the race, to our hotel, I can arrange those ice towels and beverages for you. Hmmmm?

Or leave a cooler at the last intersection before re-entering the parking lot? Anyone having non-runners cheering out on the course?

Oh Jeff, you just make me laugh!!:rotfl2: :lmao:

AFM: Woke up this morning here is Southeast Florida to a thunderstorm at 5:45am. Just the start of what we're going to get with Fay. Thought I might get a window to do a few miles, but from the radar - it doesn't look like it. Had a small break to put up some more shutters because of the potential for tornadoes within the storm now its pouring again with lightening. We are under a Flood Watch also. All Floridians STAY SAFE!!!!!

Tracy

Good morning!

Hope everyone in Florida stays safe!

Tracy - Duckie caught a nasty cold/flu right after getting back from camp. Better now but sure having to gear up for the start of school.

Was a beautiful weekend here! Got out Sat for a 16 mile bike followed by a 2 mile walk. Was going to swim but was starving so headed for home. Spent Sun doing yard and house work. Not exciting but they won't do themselves (yard gnomes and house fairies have been on strike for some time).

Have a great day and will catch up later.

Hey team!!!!!

Well I hope I am still on the team:hug: , I haven't really felt worthy of posting here lately. My training has been non-existant, I have gainned weight just felt ick...about myself as a athlete. However, today I have decided i am back and better then ever. I have a 1/2 marathon at the end of Sept that i have really not trainned for but will follow through with it as it will be DS's first 1/2 and I want to experience it with him.

I had signed up for the disney full and it will be my first full marathon and I want to enjoy the experience not be terrified of it. So I am posting my goals right here for all to see because if it is in type then it is real right:hug:

Tonight, not Monday, as I normally say I will start training, dieting etc. I will get out for a nice, long slow walk, and eatting habits will change as well. I have a goal of 50 pds before marathon weekend, not that might be a bit off but that is what I am aiming for.

Sorry for the vent but thank you for listening:grouphug:

Now to catch up!!!

All my Floridian teamates please be safe!!!!!

Jeff: The rainbows and your princesses are beautiful. You always post the most beautiful photos. Note to self, go visit Hawaii

Stephanie: I watched that as well, maybe that is my "kick in the butt" moment to get me back on track. She did it and in so much pain but nothing was going to stop her

Tracy: WTG on the 6M, be safe!!!! WOW on the photo

Julie: WTG on the 5M, be careful with that hamstring, they can be painful

Kira: Ouch on the side stitches, they sure hurt:flower3:

Liz: Wow great workouts this weekend

Have a great day all

Kim

Kim, Kim, Kimmie, Kim, Kim........
OK you have now spilled your guts :scared1: out here for all to see!!!! Now its time to step up to the plate and get going. You will get no easy ride from me. What have you done today so far??? Huh??? I do have to say that I have been doing some good training, but realized my diet was not all that great so three week ago I went back on my old trusty WW plan and have lost 9 lbs. Come on girl you can do it. Really, you need to start with a Half coming in September. We don't want to hear about a WISHer laying on the side of the road totally worn out!!!
I think your goal of a Full Marathon is great, but as we all know it is going to take some kind of training. Set up your goals and organinze them. Write them down if you need to or keep a training journal with the miles that you need to complete for each day (this is what I do and then I check them off as I do them.) You'll get there, you just need a bit of motivation to get out there and get it going. Did I motivate you or do I need to get out my Wet Noodle? Don't make me do it!!! :rotfl:

Good Luck and keep us informed!!!!
