Wk of April 27 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Cecilia –   for you and :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for your dad!

MB Michelle – WTG on your personal tri! That’s awesome.

MS Dave – Congrats on getting back into training!

Christa – What a great race report! Thanks for sharing it.

Claire – Your idea of a light day is NOTHING like my idea of a light day. Wow. :worship:

Cam – Congrats on completing Week 2!

Judy – No such thing as bringing too many clothes on vacation. :)

Stacie – A quesadilla is a pretty decent substitute for cheese fries.

Liz – Great, now I have to add Pecos Bills to the list of must-dos for whenever we manage to get ourselves to WDW. Too funny – I told DH the other day that cheese fries are, in fact, a well-balanced meal. He didn’t buy it, though.

CB Michelle – Take a rest day! That’s so exciting that your mom is going to run with you.

Shan – Yay for getting a massage! I keep saying I should go get one sometime.

Frank – Thanks for the blister info! I haven’t had one yet (knock on wood), but it’s good to know what to do if one does appear.

Betsy – Best of luck on your fitness plan! You can do it!

Debra – The only time I’ve ever been disappointed by ice cream is when I eat it too fast and get an ice cream headache. I always forgive the ice cream, though. It’s not it’s fault that I have no self control. What is this chocolate cheese you speak of?

Dana - Don't feel lonely - you can still hang out with those of us who aren't going to the Minnie. :)

Me - Did C25K W3D2 today: 1.83 miles in 25:35. It was just ok. The first three mile run was directly into the wind, and when time came for the second three mile run, the wind stopped completely and it was just hot and muggy. I did it, though! The best part was that the first 90 second run interval didn't seem hard at all!

After dinner, I'm planning on either inflating the exercise ball or sitting on the couch eating ice cream. Gee, I wonder which one will win out. :rotfl:

GOOD EVENING TEAM!!!!!

OHHHHHHH I'm so excited I could just scream. Actually I have been singing all night and my kids have been begging me to stop. :rotfl:

TxAng Before you know it 3 and 4 minute intervals will seem "not hard at all" :thumbsup2 Seriously, you have a good plan and you are sticking with it, that is all you need. I say reward yourself with ice cream but I know that is BAD!!
Dana See you there!!
Debra As usual your posts bring a smile to my face and I think you should hop on the first plane down here and walk that darn thing with me. It's not fair I will have 2 MINNIE MOUSE medals and you won't have any!
I have actually figured out I get these monster fever blisters literally once a year in May, last year it was for graduation.... (yeah the pics were awesome!!! :sad1: )
Betsy You have asked for help in the right place, they have really given me what I need this week  (encouragement) & :sad2: (and truth)

Ok so still resting, did not get foam roller but have been stretching and working my core some. OK so I walked a mile tonight, I WALKED!!! OK I just had to move you know?? I sit at a desk all day, what can I say?

So don't know if I will be able to post from work tomorrow, so if not!!! ADIOS!!

I did a 3.10mile walk tonight, last before the Minnie 15K. I won't be posting until I get back. I will try to take pictures. I am somewhat bummed because I didn't get my Eye2Eye shirt. ugh!!
I need to fininsh packing, finish my lime green nail paint job and watch LOST!!!

Debra - Yeah...watching LOST right now. I do have a shirt with that saying on the back.

Shan - Massage Envy by Town Center?? Where?? I go to a massage envy near Weston Town Center. I love it!

Take care everyone and good training!!

Haagen Dazs free scoop of their new flavor on May 18th from 4-8 pm.

Vanilla Honey Bee Ice cream :cool1:

As for me: Plus, I've gotten a slew of of Action Sports International emails, taunting me with my ever-so-attractive photos of the Goofy. All these signs, plus my AP, says I should be going to Orlando.

Deb - Uuugh, don't you hate having Disneyitis? I have a deluxe AP to WDW that was a gift when we bought into DVC. I used it for 15 days in January, and now it's just sitting there all lonely, like Eyeore :eeyore: . 350 days, er, 351 days of no use due to leap year.

I got that same doggone email from the race photography company. Aaaarrrgh, it's killing me not being there with the rest of the WISH team. Have you noticed it got quiet in the boards, now that everyone is gone to that magical place that has no wireless?

I went to the blood bank and made my 96th donation here in Hawaii. I'm actually over 100 if you count my California donations, but I've never gotten my numbers transfered. Dooh.

Anyways, skipped today's workout to rest from the pint donation.

LOSTIES: I didn't catch the first 35 minutes, and now I'm really LOST! Will watch it online to get caught up.:confused3

Scott: Oh the torture! You are sooooo lucky! :earboy2:

Michelle:My exercise ball is shoved in my closet at the moment...I brought it up to school so I could sit at the computer without my butt going numb! Get to feeling better and sounds like some nice jogs!

Debra:
Claire: I know you meant this statement: But...:scared1: :rotfl2: :worship: You never fail to impress me with your healthy lifestyle, in which being active for you is as natural as eating chocolate is for me. I need to challenge myself this summer to be more like you. (Seriously...except the chocolate has to stay, too.)

Stacie: Cheese...Gromit.:teeth: If there's anything I like better than ice chocolate, it's cheese. And chocolate cheese.... With wine. :drinking: I think you need to visit Epcot while you're there, sample the offerings of WS.

As for me: Nothing much. I have my spring cold, and I'm sulking because I'm not going to the Minnie. Plus, I've gotten a slew of of Action Sports International emails, taunting me with my ever-so-attractive photos of the Goofy. All these signs, plus my AP, says I should be going to Orlando. But noooo. It's just not to be. I'm going to sit here in my lonely corner, all red-eyed and sniffly, and...
I so wouldn't make it without my chocolate *drools just thinking about it* ...y'all were killing me with talk of fudge and Ghiardelli's and sundaes and banana splits! So my lifestyle comes with chocolate included. Mmm I'm down with chocolate and cheese ....fondue....or Italian...mmm

Dana, Debra, Ang, Jeff, and others:hmm it is pretty quiet around here :scratchin I'm thinking us lonely non-Minnie travelers need to band together :grouphug: grab us a :cake: and have us a party: :mickeyjum

Jeff: What's with all the ice cream stores that AREN'T around here handing out free ice cream!!??!! NOt fair! :sad2:

:stitch2:

Yesterday I went on a 6 ish-miler. I had to stop by the library to copy an article so I'm not sure of exactly how far it was. I finally biked over to Varsity Sports and got a new swim suit as my old one was literally falling apart. Naturally, I had to go try it out, so I headed straight over to the gym, did a short strength training and hopped in the pool.

I'm about to head out on my long run (12-13 miles). I'll probably hit the pool and rockwall later, before our Spring Banquet tonight. I found four masks to pick from and BF picked the matching black with gold sequins with black and red feathers ones. Oh the fun!

Happy runs and happy Disney to everyone at the World!

Hello!

I apologize that I haven't posted at all this week. My work hit crisis mode!!!

So... I leave shortly for the Minnie and my taper was do nothing LOL! I did 2.5 miles Monday and otherwise.... I just have been at work, but the project went OUT THE DOOR around 11:30 PM last night so... I am FREE!!

So sorry to hear about the Eye2Eye shirt issues. But remember "wish" is not a shirt!

Scott - OK, you've been there a day and that's all we get? Where's teh link to your blog? :guilty: ;) Hope you're having fun!

OOPS!! http://scojo15.blogspot.com ;)

Soooo....sorry for the selfish post here, but the quick update from my world:

We got in on Wednesday, and it's been a rollercoaster of events ever since. Here are some of the ups and downs....had an AWESOME dinner at Jiko (new fav place I think!), got way overcharged for a bottle of wine at AKL (but they made it right the next day), rode ToT and RnRC (will tell you about the LIVE person in the studio pre-show playing the drums later), witnessed the tragic scene of a medical team apparently working to save the life of a Hollywood Studios park goer :(, played medic on Amy's poor feet (read at least SIX blisters...new shoes...hopefully will be better before the races), watched Amy get picked and participate in a World Showcase Players thing at the UK pavilion (photos AND film ;) later), heard Amy's story of a CM getting severe face burns from steam at the coffee kiosk in Epcot, and....drumroll please....just got done watching my car get towed to the Auto Care Center (yep...I think we have a dead battery...they better fix it today so that we have transportation to the race!!).

AND WE'VE ONLY BEEN HERE FOR JUST OVER A DAY!!

Ok..off to go attempt to relax at the CS pool for a while, then hopefully pick up the car and make it to the expo...I hope everyone is doing good out there, travel safe if you are coming down this weekend.

Ta Ta for now!

(blog update later tonight for sure!!)

Scott

Wow how eventful!!!

Just sent you PM, please call if you need a ride and you might see my fam at pool they will be there within a couple of hours :)

Betsy - Hey!! I have that book. I am the exact opposite of you though. The workouts look easy... it's the food that I just look at and thing "BLECH!". Then again I have two children and a husband that would look at me like I had no head on if I offered them some of this food. Heck, I just got them eating fish and whole gran foods. I'll tell you what though, if you want a partner we might be able to work something out. I'll keep on you about the workouts, if you keep on me about healthier food. I'm not promising "her" food!!
QUOTE]

Have you done the workouts? :lmao: I'm just not so much a gym person, and am not so strong, so they are hard for me. I can hardly pick up my arms today. ha! Hopefully not as hard by the end of the month. I can't even do those 'mountain climbers' for a minute straight. I can ride a bike over 100 miles, but not one lousy minute of those!

As for the food, I'm repeating recipes in place of stuff I wouldn't eat. I think I can handle most of it, but there sure seem to be a lot of recipes with eggplant in my eating group (balanced oxiders), so...umm...no thanks, Jillian! Since it's just me, I will make a recipe I like and freeze the leftovers, having them on the days of yucky food. I did just try cottage cheese for breakfast for the first time in my life...I'll say....so/so. I didn't gag, but didn't love it. It's for ONE MONTH...I can do this!

And...the Moroccan Chicken with wild rice was good, as were the turkey/broccoli wraps. So, I'm on day 2...we'll see how it goes. I have a 4 hour bike ride to add to the fun.

DKP...Don't be sad! I think will miss everyone, too! And I'm not even a big-time poster here. I love Jillian, too....so when I'm working out (or eating), I am just imagining her yelling at me! :rotfl: Good thing is, I don't need to lose much weight...just about 5-7 lbs....mostly trying just to tone up a little more.

Happy Friday!!

Another good luck to the Minnie people!

Scott...crazy adventures!!

:scared1: :scared1: Only one day. Boy you sure know how to pack everything in a short period of time. Hopefully today proves to be a little less stressful and your car gets fixed. Do they offer home equity loans at the Car Care Center. I figure with Disney prices compared to the real world you may need a little help. ;)

Point of order. The WISH bail fund is for jail emergencies only, right? People are on their own for car repairs/emergencies? (Sorry if this is true Scott, but I just need to know how much wiggle room I'll have come ToT and/or marathon weekend, especially given Big Vic's drunk tolerance filter malfunction issues. :) )

CosiMichelle - FOr longer runs adn in the summer, we run with a fuel belt with Powerade in Water. A headache is a sign of dehydration. I can get nasty ones from that. You must be properly hydrated before teh run, too, to be at your best. HTH!

Michelle- Good to hear the runs are getting easier. Don’t forget to get your fluids and fuel.
Michelle- If it is too hot out I do one of two things. First, I run a lot after dark. I love night running in the summer. Of course some people don’t feel safe doing this but where I live it isn’t bad. Second, I put some water in a cooler on my front porch and do a 2 or 3 or 4 loop run to grab some. I don’t like running with a belt but if you don’t mind it that is just as good of an option.

(I'm not sure which of these messages were for me, but they are both GREAT advice so I'll respond and take into consideration both!)

Thanks for the advice on the hydration issue!! My DF said he has this camel pack thingy that I can use for longer runs and in the dead summer, so that is going to be GREAT!

Most certainly! Plus I figure they're potatoes -- that's a vegetable. I add cheese and there's my dairy, vegetarian chili provides protein. Pretty good, huh? :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 awesome!, so the french fries really = veggie, so my dinner was really: veggie + turkey wrap = REALLY healthy! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Betsy, I have TWO reasons to stick to a fitness plan. 1. wedding! 2. half marathon in Jan! So I will def help you out in any way I can!!! Which race are you training for? I'd like to learn more about this book you speak of, would it be good for a marathon?? I need as much info as I can get, especially since my mom is going to run too! :)

CB Michelle: I agree with Carrie that being well hydrated beforehand is important on all runs. That's the first thing I try to pay attention to. For really long runs, I have a belt with small bottles that hold water & Cytomax/Gatorade. I've also done caches on a route, when I had a regular route. For short runs where I want some water (heat, new route), I have a bottle with a hand strap--it lets my hand relax but I still have water with me. I hope this helps.

I'm looking forward to seeing your dress, and am sure you'll be a beautiful bride. Take a pic with bridal ears, if you have them already. I think it's so great that you and your DM are running the 1/2 together and maybe your FSIL, too. That gives you company on the course--although you have us, too--AND people to train with. (In my case, it's kick my lazy booty out of bed.) You're doing great with the training, btw! And so soon! :cheer2:

I'm really paying attention to what my body says from now on! The hydration is going to be key, and with this new water backpack thingie, I think I'm going to be golden! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the advice!!!

I'm starting to have second thoughts about this "dress" that I love so much. I think it doesn't have as long of a train as I'd like, and the dress is not customizable. I have finally narrowed down what I want in a dress, and I've realized its really specific... what if it doesn't exist!?! :scared1: lol. I'm going to go back to the store and try on a ton more and see if I can find something similar to this one, only with a longer train... other then that I just love it:love: and am worried I wont find something quite as elegant! ::sigh::
I too, am battling a spring cold... what is up with that?! my nose is stuffed up and I keep sneezing. I thought colds only came in the winter!!!?? :confused3 I hope you feel better soon!!!

CB Michelle – Take a rest day! That’s so exciting that your mom is going to run with you.

I did indeedy take a rest day yesterday! my legs dont feel as wobbly, but I'm still battling a head cold... I dont want to take another rest day, maybe I'll do a light jog tonight... hmmmmm... I"M so excited that my mom is going to run with me! wooo hooo

This may sound stupid, but since I'm still new here and have yet to read any of the books I have purchased for my training, but what is "C25K W3D2"? I have seen other people make references to this as well, but I can't figure it out :confused3 ... lol! Sorry for being such a newbie! Anyway it sounds like it was tough but you powered through yesterday, so yay! way to go! keep up the good work!! :thumbsup2
After dinner, I'm planning on either inflating the exercise ball or sitting on the couch eating ice cream. Gee, I wonder which one will win out. :rotfl:

:rotfl: that sounds like an amazingly delicious dinner! I just may have to choose between icecream and being lazy, or getting out there in the dreary weather and running... hmmm... lol

Angie, have a safe trip down (up?) to the race!!! kick some major butt too! :yay:

Michelle:My exercise ball is shoved in my closet at the moment...I brought it up to school so I could sit at the computer without my butt going numb! Get to feeling better and sounds like some nice jogs!

hehehahaha another great use for an exercise ball! :thumbsup2 I looked briefly for mine last night and couldn't find it... perhaps its at my parents house burried under boxes of crap... in any case, I think mine was used for a similar reason.. that and bouncing around the house and trying not to crash into anything:laughing:

thanks and keep up the great work with the running. I can't wait to get to running 6 milers! I'm so impatient!

and other then that, I'm still sick, and took a rest day yesterday... Looked at wedding stuff all night waiting for DF to get home ( he worked late):thumbsup2 and got some really GREAT ideas!!! :cool1: tonight I plan on doing another 3 as long as the weather holds out and it doesn't rain! I feel better, health wise, then yesterday and sometimes running helps me kick a lingering cold...We'll see how good I feel later today though! :)

... what is "C25K W3D2"? I have seen other people make references to this as well, but I can't figure it out :confused3

I am a walker, but in that I don't know who is still around given Minnie events, I'll respond to this with what I know. This is referring to the Couch to 5K (C25K) running program that I believe you can find at the Cool Running website. The program is designed to take a person from the couch to running/jogging a 5K over a number of weeks (not sure how many in total). The W3D2 refers to the week number and day number of the program the person is on, i.e., W3D2 = week 3, day 2.

Hope that helps.

Hey Everyone: I just received a call from the Provost at SUNY/Geneseo, and she "informally" offered me the position. She said she was going to put an offer letter in the mail, but wanted to let me know that she was going to offer me the job. Thanks for all your support... it looks like we won't be homeless and hungry afterall...
