Hello :)

The past two years we have flown via West Jet to Orlando for the March Break and since we buy our tickets around this time every year, they are about 220 each way per person (plus the dreaded taxes). (Not ready to the drive to Buffalo yet as I worry about the weather, among other things). But anyways ... I've been watching the prices for departure of the 8th and return on the 17th. The 8th had been sitting at $217 and return was $207. We were getting ready to book. CHecked today and the one down on the 8th has jumped to $416!!! :confused3 Why the HUGE jump??? Usually it creeps up bit by bit, but never that much. Does anyone know why? The return flights haven't jumped that much ... yet!!

Not sure what to do because this is just too much for the six of us to fly. Are there really any good deals from BUffalo at this time of year? I've looked before and usually they are around $200 per person, each way, so I figure for the difference it isn't worth it. When will they start releasing dates for March?

Do you think WJ's price will go down at all or just keep going up?

I know you don't want to consider Buffalo at this point but if you want to get there at a reasonable price...you might have no choice.
Westjet(just like AC ,AT,SkyS etc) all elevate their prices at this time Whereas Southwest and Air Tran and much more affordable.Even at the lower quoted WJ fare of $424....you don't think $200 per person with SWA (muliplied by 6 = $1200) is a good saving ?
As for the weather, its been pretty good these last few March breaks and the drive to Buffalo was a breeze.

Their is consistently a seat sale for Orlando Feb/March departures starting the first two weeks of October. Definitely wait prices will come down.

If you don't mind connecting flights Delta has YYZ MCO for as low as $290 Cad but that is 2 stops.

I will definitely keep watching WJ and hopefully prices will drop to a much more reasonable rate. We did AC a couple of years ago and just didn't like it. The service wasn't great at all. We have flown WJ the last two years and were really impressed with them.

I most definitely don't want connecting flights. I'd like a direct flight, mostly so that we don't drag out the travel time for the kids.

As for Buffalo, I do worry about weather as it is an area that is prime snowbelt area. We live in the snowbelt north of Barrie and sometimes it is enough to make it to Toronto, let alone 3 1/2 hours to Buffalo. March is the most unpredictable month weather wise in my opinion. I did look last year at Buffalo rates for SW, despite already booking with WJ, and did not see a direct flight for less than $200 US one way. So for me that still was $400 US per person. Didn't seem that great to me. Now obviously I didn't catch the "deals", but can't guarantee I'd catch them anyways. So I'm still not sold on driving all the way down there to fly out.

Anyways, hopefully the prices fall in the near future ... if not, we may just not be going next year :sad2: Our other thought, is for the rest of the family to drive down ahead (dh, kids, mom and dad) and I fly down after them. They can leave a few days ahead of me, but since I teach I can't get going until the Saturday (unless the Friday is an "A" day, as I only teach on the "B" Kdgn schedule).

You can also sign up for Get Set which operate just like Ding and it will alert you to WJ seat sales.
