...when do you think the BIG crowds will arrive? My family will be there the 16th-20th and I just want to know what to expect. My guess (and this is just a guess as we usually go during the 1st week of Dec) is that the major crowds will arrive the weekend before X-mas. Am I just in denial?

Several schools around here don't get out until the 20th or 21st, so you might be right!

I will also be there starting the 16th so I'm hoping for the best!

18th -22nd for us hopefully the beginning of the week we can get a bit done .

I'm there from 12/20 to 12/23 so I hope it isn't too bad yet....my niece wants to ride all the "hot" rides in the 2 days that she'll be there with me.

We'll be there the 16th also so we are hoping small crowds too. But it doesn't matter, we'll be in DISNEY WORLD!!!!! :Pinkbounc

We'll be there the 15th-22nd and hoping we are leaving when the masses are coming in. There have been several polls and a lot of schools don't start break till closer to the 20th-22nd, though that doesn't mean people (like me!) won't be pulling kids out of school. My TA felt that the crowds would build through the week and start to get heavy the 21st/22nd.

Hoping for a light start to the week!

You are correct We are 8 year X mas veterans. The BIG crowds should arrive from the 22 on. My guess is that you will have a fairly quite time compared to 22 thru 1st. We have made trips from the December 21 thru Jan 1 and it builds everyday as it gets closer to New Years

We are also going the 16th to the 20th!
I am hoping that is before the christmas masses get there.
This will be my very first time there so I will have nothing to compare it to though. I just hope that I have time to see everything that I want to see in 3 short days.

And we're there from the 15th to the 20th. It may be crowded just with us Disers!
Bobbi :)

No offense, but I think you are in denial. Last year we were really surprised to find the crowds arriving en masse on Friday, December 16th, a full week before Christmas!! We didn't realize so many schools are out for the week prior to Christmas, which was on a Sunday last year. I think the school schedules are the same this year. Private schools are for sure.

We were there last year from 12/17 thru 12/26 and found that the parks were relatively quiet right up to 12/24. All rides were walk ons except Soarin. Even though MK was a nightmare on Christmas day we went to MGM that night and it was not crowded at all.
I think this year will be different....judging by the crowds over the Thanksgiving weekend and the Christmas weekend starting on 12/22 this year will be a lot different than last year. YOAMD has become a very succesful promotion for Disney and I think it is drawing more people than normal to the parks.

I agree. Crowd levels are predicted to be a 4 out of 5 that week, which is pretty darn crowded. Our schools, like many others, start Christmas break the week of the 18th, and I've been reading where lots of people are going that week. So be prepared!

Didn't realize we had so many 16th arrivals!!

Don't forget to wear your lime green paint chip on the DME busses, so we can start the DIS partying early! We land around 3:40.

I'm hoping for minimal crowds. But, if I'm floating on the River of Denial, I'm keeping my oars in the water as long as possible!!! :p

Schools around here aren't getting out until the 22nd. So here's hoping.

ditto above!

We will be 15th-24th this year and I expect the crowds to really get swinging Friday, 12/22. But....I DONT CARE!!!! Its DISNEY!! :cool1:  :yay:

Schools here go till the 22nd too.

On Touring Plans crowd calendar they have the week as follows:

12/15 4
12/16 6
12/17 6
12/18 5
12/19 4
12/20 6
12/21 4
12/22 4
12/23 6
12/24 10

Those are not too bad in my opinion.

Allyson :)

Judging by the hours that Magic Kingdom is open (only until 7pm) I am hoping we are all ok. We are going 16th-22nd. The end of the week will be bad, that I know!

Our kids here in Fla get out the 15th, but I know most schools up north are the following week.

MK is only open till 7:00PM because of MVMCP nights.
Since you are going till the 22nd you will probably miss all the big crowds.

Have FL schools always gotten the week prior to Christmas off or is this something new, this year?
