With Soarin Closed I have a dilemma....Suggestions?

Original plan was to hit up Epcot late afternoon to FP Soarin, Spaceship Earth, and Nemo and eat dinner at Garden Grill. We'd also watch IllumiNations. We would then spend a second full day there to FP Test Track. We would also have a back up night to watch IllumiNation if there was bad weather the first night.

Now with Soarin closed in January I'm second guessing the plan. Now I'm thinking HS for 3 Fast Passes, a Fatasmic Mama Melrose reservation and watch Fantasmic. We would then spend a second full day in HS. Unlike others we could spend a lot of time in HS watching shows etc. We are spending Martin Luther King day at HS and I know it will be crowded. Adding the extra evening may alleviate being so rushed.

But..... I'd really like to eat at Garden Grill and we've never been able to spend much time in the World Showcase. Spending and extra evening at Epcot would allow us to do that.

Decisions, Decisions....... Traveling with Two - 6 year olds and a 15 yr. This half day I'm not sure what to do with is at the begining of our trip. It's the Sunday before MLK day and I know the parks will be crowded.

Just a comment on your original plans.

No FPs generally needed for Spaceship Earth and (especially) Nemo.

Considering I love Test Track - I'd stick with original plan but pick Test Track as a FP that day instead of Soarin'. Can't ride TT too many times in one trip - IMO!

LOL, I know, but there's something about having them..... just incase Epcot is besieged with crazy lovin' Spaceship Earth and Nemo fans!!

Why not FP+ TestTrack and then follow the original plan?

Yes that would be the plan if we choose to go to Epcot!

If you are not going into the World Showcase, I would just skip Epcot. Without Maelstrom and Soarin', not worth it for us. But we are not big fans of TT.

I think with Soarin' closed everything else is likely to be "that" much busier. I had a lunchtime visit to Epcot scheduled with FP for January and was going to ditch the FP at Epcot for ones later on at AK (note the FP aren't booked yet but are on my spreadsheet) until I realized that with no Soarin' there would be a lot of people in the parks that would normally be in the Soarin' line or riding it....

Sounds like we're going the same week. I will also be in DHS on MLK Day. I have a Fantasmic dining package for H&V on that day and don't want to change too much about that day. I'm considering not going to Epcot altogether and doing a second day at HS, but we had breakfast at Garden Grill and Dinner at Akershus and I was really looking forward to those two meals. Don't know what to do.

Do you have PHs? If so, just hop on over to Epcot for your dinner ressies. I love HS and I love Epcot but I can't see spending two days at HS. I usually hop between the two, numerous times during a trip. Can't even remember a trip where I wasn't at one or the other every day but I usually stay at the Epcot resorts and have AP and hoppers before that.

We will be their from the 14 to 24 of jan.

We have park hoppers so we might just have to grab 3 fast passes late in the day at another park and take our chances with test track on one of our epcot days and not waste fastpass on epcot. Talk about a no fastpass park now.

No Fantasmic package for us on MLK day. My son remembers Sci Fi from 9 years ago and insists we go there! Nervous about doing DHS on MLK but we'll manage!! No way could we skip Epcot, it may be years before we make it back!

No hopper. With short days in January I just can't justify spending the extra money. So we have to manage without.
