With rain forecasted would you bring regular stroller or umbrella stroller?

I had been going back and forth if I want to bring our regular stroller which is bigger and harder to fold up or bring a small umbrella stroller. I had thought I’d decided on her normal stroller to make naps easier since it lies flat. But I looked at the weather and it’s supposed to rain every day of my trip. Would it be easier having the umbrella stroller instead because of this? I’m worried about her normal stroller getting soaked and also hard to collapse to get on buses when it’s pouring. We did buy a rain cover but it sure how my baby will be with that since we’ve never used it before

I find it very helpful to practice a lot ahead of time - so try using the raincover, even if it isn't raining, to get a sense for how quickly you can get it setup, and how well the baby does with it. You might find it is super easy or very hard, which will help you decide between strollers.

Great idea thanks!

How old is the baby? I personally didn't use an umbrella for a child under at least a year as it doesn't have much support.

Definitely bring/use a rain cover either way, if you leave the stroller in stroller parking midafternoon - cover it no matter the forecast :)

Great suggestion above about practicing with your preferred stroller. Can you babywear? If so you could fold and cover the stroller with the rain shield in a covered area before leaving for the bus and wear baby.

A backpack as a diaper bag was a lifesaver for us as well.

She’s 18 months and we have done baby wearing since she was really little she wasn’t ever a fan of it. She’s been in the umbrella stroller but wasn’t a big fan of it. But we have a graco stroller that has a separate piece for the seat so it’s not easy to fold up quickly or gold which would make bus travel difficult, especially if ifs raining.

I am not a fan of umbrella strollers at all - they are uncomfortable/unsupportive, flimsy, the handles don't go up far enough to be comfortable for a long day of pushing, terrible cup holders, limited/no storage. We live here, visit the parks in monsoon rains on a regular basis, and won't leave home without our nice stroller. We are all happier with it. But we're pros at folding it down and it has a great raincover.

It's not truly rainy season yet, and any rain you get won't last all day (if you get any at all). If it's pouring, stand under something until it passes and then get on the bus.

Practice folding yours down before you come, and if it's is really that difficult consider investing in a used stroller that's easier to fold. You can always resell once back home.

We finally learned and bought one of these for our 3rd kid. It comes with a rain hood but we forgot it at home. No matter - we covered it with a couple of rain ponchos when we knew we were going to leave it out in the rain - kept it plenty dry;

SUPER easy to fold it down when jumping on and off buses, really sturdy, and it comes with a carrying bag when you take it on planes.

I had a Maclaren back in the day with my kids (they are now 16 & 20) and it was the best stroller we ever owned. Far better than my clunky graco. Lightweight, simple to fold down and comfortable. Bought it for WDW, used it everywhere at home.

With a toddler that age, If you plan to visit WDW, other parks, the zoo etc. I would consider upgrading to a lightweight easy to fold, easy to push, fully or 3/4 recline stroller. Like the pp I also had a McLaren and I loved that it would fold in a snap, had a carry handle and could stand on its own when folded.

Normal stroller with a rain cover for sure.

We used our umbrella stroller a few times (we flew down with it and rented a double). The umbrella works for going to dinner but I wouldn't go all day with it.

I'd definitely look at finding a used stroller that's easier to fold. I have a Bob Motion (which is sadly discontinued) and it has a one handed fold.

Baby Jogger City Mini - big sun/rain protector, lies mostly flat for naps, is a breeze to push (even one handed) and has the easiest fold on the market. We put thousands of miles on ours between the 2 kids and I was really sad when we finally said goodbye to it.

The worse Disney experience I ever had was with a Maclaren. The sun/rain visor is useless, DS couldn’t get comfortable, and I needed 2 hands to push it. Plus the fold can be annoying.

Bring the rain cover, practice at home with the kid inside so they can get used to it. Also bring a fan to attach to the stroller, it makes the ride better for them and less complaining about the heat!

Thank you everyone for the tips! We have our regular stroller and rain cover. Going to Magic Kingdom today and it’s pouring lol. Wish us luck!
