How much do you tip???

I know it says gratuity included...but that means the server is tipped on $11.50. If the sales of your items come to about $18.50 do you tip the server additional???

Say your bill for 1 person was $18.50 and you tip 15% that would be about $2.75. Now if you give the waiter a Q&C they are tipped 15% on 11.50 which is about $1.70. So, by you saving money your server miss out on .95 income....which doesn't sound like a lot but I think these gal/guys do a great job...I tipped on the sales amount minus what would be applied by the voucher....

What do you do???

Well, I guess I would plan it this way. If you give those out and the server is still good even though they assume they are going to only get the alloted gratuity, i would reward hard work and give another 10-20 % but I am usually an over tipper. If they don't provide good service I would ask for money from them to sit through their bad mood! LOL:teeth:

The voucher includes the tip, you don't have to leave a tip, it is included on the voucher. Their tip is based on whatever the amount of your bill is. The servers at B&C told me they like when people use the vouchers because they are guaranteed a great tip.

The server I got at Beaches and Cream told me that they are tipped on the value of the voucher not the sales of the items you order....hence my question....

Sounds like different people are told different things...

I'll have to look in to this more....

Or does anybody else have any other information..

Also, as a previous server if I got a tip that equalled.... approximately 28% of the bill I would have made sure I thanked my guests....neither of the servers that waited on us at B&C seemed overly thrilled with the tip which was $10 on top of the voucher tip which if you are correct would have been about $6.75 . $16.75 is a pretty good tip on $60 sales...

They were very pleasant waitresses....the first was more attentive then the second...but.....who knows???

I have always been told the tip is based on the amount of your bill, not the voucher price.

We always leave an extra tip, never below $5.00, sometimes $10.00 or more. Mainly because we usually split meals and feel like we should leave more because of the extra work for the waitress.

I was also under the impression that the tip was based on the amount of the meal, not the amount of the voucher. How can we find out for sure?? Hmm......

I was also told the tip was bill total- not voucher cost. I always leave a little extra though and at Pepper market the cashier told me that the voucher tip was split between everyone so I left an extra tip just for my server.

We split vouchers and leave an additional tip for the waitperson as long as they are pleasant. Which is generally the case.

We had a server at B & C that was very indifferent. He didn't receive anything extra.

The last 2 times we were at Beaches and Cream the waiter/waitress were almost rude. Not at all worth 15%. We were told by the waiter at RFC it was on the total bill. That may be why some will help you maximize your savings!

most of the places we used the q/c were counters or food courts with out waiters ( sorry but I refuse to tip in those circumstances since who do you tip? the cashier? the person who puts the food up? so what ever they got from the q/c was more than they would have normally gotten from me) but at beaches & PM we tipped enough to equal 20 % of the total bill and basically just"forgot" about the service charge as the manager explained ( & as mentioned above) it equals about 3-5% for the actual server so on a $17 meal all of approximately 80 cents

our experience was though that rather than viewing it as agood tip a few viewed the ( vkl ) vouchers as an "automatic" tip and gave us lousy service! like always, it depends on who you get.

We asked just about every waiter/waitess about the tip part...mainly to start conversation. Each one of them including B&C stated that it was the total amount of the bill that they received 15% tip on. Again, with the exception of Pepper Market, we left extra on the table.

At counter service the cashier does not recieve the 15%, the tip money is then not charged against the voucher.

I agree, the waitess' at B&C are not very nice/helpful, maybe because too many people use vouchers and it makes them so busy....I don't know.

It was my understanding that they get tipped 15% on the total bill, not the face value of the voucher. I always tip extra unless it is poor service. I'll ask again when I'm there next month.

I think sometimes at B&C that it is so busy, the waiters/waitresses seem frazzled. But, I have never had a bad experience. In fact, when Dh and I sat at the counter once, that was our best server ever (just seemed more personable) That place is so popular. I wish they could expand into the game room and put that somewhere else!

Guess the waitress just misunderstood my question....Thanks for filling me in....

I keep thinking about this. I wonder if they are mad at the sharing of meals and the lower tip because of it?? With or without vouchers, we would still share there. And, since I overtip - I think I make up for the sharing. Or, maybe the server is misinformed? Or maybe we are....... Without seeing an actual bill at the end (unless we add on - but I think that is separate) it's hard to say. I think I'll ask if they get their tip immediately from the voucher of if they have to wait until the end of the shift or even later. (say in their paycheck after the voucher is processed) If I find out any more when I'm there, I'll post back here.

I also wonder if the servers are leery of people who share. Yes, we more than compensate them in the tip, but servers don't get tips until the end of the meal!

Not saying this is the case at all, lol, but playing devil's advocate, why wouldn't the server say s/he only gets 15% of the value of the voucher? Wouldn't that incline more people to tip extra? Again, not saying that is the case, but you never know.

Two years ago we used vouchers twice at B&C w/different servers and both times were told it was 15% of the whole bill and we didn't even see the bills. The first time, the waitress even refused to bill us for the extra soda.

i don't know we shared 90% of our meals and no one ever commented on it or even acted the least bit put out what so ever, voucher or no voucher. in fact if anything they went overboard to accomadate us ie plating it seperately,at beaches giving us 1/2 fires1/2o rings( where we did use a voucher). if it was a ploy to get a better tip, fine i tip better for better service! also i believe i recall reading something from a source other than wait staff they get 15% of the total check for voucher use. i DO think though that some probably either don't know or care that is the chintzy tip since the wait staff seemed genuinely surprised when we gave them more.... imo it isn't fair to the staff...who gives 15%as a tip anymore!?
