With Peter Pan closed, what is your first ride?

We always get there early, are at the front of rope drop, and head straight to Peter Pan, sometimes even riding twice, before moving on for the day. Peter Pan will be closed during our trip next week (sob!), so I have no idea where we should head first! Should we still hit Fantasyland rides, or maybe head to Space Mountain? Big Thunder? Indy?

We are really only into rides (no characters). We will have two day park hoppers, and are planning to begin Monday in DL (when they don't have early entry) and Tuesday in CA Adventure, since we are staying offsite.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

For a while we were trying out a new ride each time (we've been 8 times since it shut down), but we finally went on Alice. Hadn't been on it since it's refurb. Now, it's our favorite to start with. The new technology in there really makes it even more beautiful than it already was.

Alice is another good one to start with, or Dumbo if you have kids. Peter Pan was supposed to open early May, but now it looks like it's not opening until later in May. We were planning on riding Peter Pan first too, but we'll probably ride Alice first followed by Dumbo, Toad, and Casey Junior. We like to alternate between inside and outside rides in Fantasyland and tend to save Snow White, Pinocchio, and the Carousel for last since they are the easiest to get on at any time.

If you're not into the Fantasyland rides outside of Peter Pan, then I'd head to Adventureland first as an early morning ride on the Jungle Cruise is great!

My new favorite way to start the morning is in Adventureland/New Orleans Square/Frontierland. Pick up a FP for Indy, ride Big Thunder, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, then head back to ride Indy with your FP.

I totally agree with you about Alice. I always liked the ride, but since the refurb, it's become our very favorite Fantasyland attraction. We head over first thing to get a couple of rides in before moving on to something else. In January, crowds were so low that there wasn't anyone else in line when we finished our first ride. The CM offered us the opportunity to just stay on for another ride and we gladly took her up on it.

That's great to hear about Alice! I think it was being refurbished when we were there last, so that's a great idea to ride that one first. My kids are 13 and 10, so they don't care too much about Dumbo, Casey Jones, carousel, etc., but they do like Mr. Toad! We do tend to head to Adventureland right after FL to go on POTC, Big Thunder, and get Indy FP.

I love Casey Jr the most, then Peter Pan and the Storybook Canal boats. Haha. But we would hit PP first because of the lines that grow and grow as the morning goes on.

I have had the same question. PP was always our first ride and we have had several discussions over what is the first ride should be since it will be closed for our trip. It is a really big deal for us We were leaning towards Alice.

I have always had the tradition of starting out in Tomorrowland. My DD is small (she's almost 3) so we will hit up Buzz Lightyear, go on Autopia, and then do the single rider for Space or Star Tours (although I usually hit up Star Tours on our way out) and finish off with Nemo before moving on to a different land.

I am so glad to hear about Alice! The last 2 times I have been to DL, Alice has been closed, so yay! The Cheshire Cat is my all time favorite character, so much so that I have him tattooed on my back.
We're going in early June, and my daughter is turning 4 in a couple of weeks. Although she has been to DL twice as a baby, this will be the first trip that she actually remembers. Plus, she's 42 inches tall, so she'll get to do almost everything. So excited. My son will be turning 7 in May, and I have my fingers crossed that he will actually be brave enough to ride Space Mountain and the Matterhorn. I haven't ridden either of those for at least 6 years due to having a scaredy-cat kid!

We are MAJOR Splash Mountain fans and always hit that first! Then Haunted Mansion and Pirates---those are our favorites!

This is a great thread! We are going for the first time next week and I feel so unprepared. Been to WDW plenty of times that I know where everything is, set out a plan, etc....but no idea where to start and afraid we'll miss everything with no plan at all. I have a girl who is 8 who claims she wants to ride everything this time (we'll see) and a 6 year boy who claims he is afraid of everything (we'll see), but has done Haunted Mansion, POTC at WDW. I think I might start in Adventure land and follow that path...I guess I need to buy a book and then I'll have 6 hours on a plane to figure it out!
