With all the closures, is Disneyland worth this long trip?

Originally, we had planned on taking two grandchildren to Disney World in Florida. Now it seems like my 6 year old granddaughter has cold feet and has backed out. But - I also have two 9 year old grandsons, one of which lives on Vancouver Island. Our plan is to drive out to BC from Ontario with one child, pick up the other in BC and all four of us drive down to Disneyland. But after reading of all the closures, I'm not sure it's going to be worth all the effort and expense. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Go and have fun.

My son has never liked the big mountain rides. We go to DL at least several times a year and there is a wealth of things to do besides those rides.

One thing I might suggest, the closures may mean that other E-ticket type attractiosn may be crowded. Get your family the "passport plus" from Disney Travel. They have "unlimited" fastpasses and give you a little extra leeway with the rides.

I hope it all works out.

Please think it over. Is it out of the question to still go to Florida? There is so very much to do and see whereas with California disneyland the ride closures are a disapointment. I'm only 40 minutes away and we're waiting to buy our annual passes.

Good luck, and by the way.................what lucky grandkids you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You did not mention when you are planning to go - but only Space Mtn and Big Thunder are closed past Nov 6 - as Splash Mtn is planning to be open after that last time I checked. So really that is not "a lot" of closures. There is so much to see and do at both DL and DCA. If you take your grandkids there you are sure to have a ball.
I have annual passes and I still never run out of fun things to enjoy at the parks and I go all the time.
Have a fun and safe trip no matter what you decide!

"Soarin over California" beats the heck out of those silly mountain rides anyway!!!!

Get a passport plus with unlimited fastpasses and have a ball!!!!::yes::

I agree about the "soaring" part. So the way it looks now, we'll fly the west coast GS to Ontario and take the two of them to WDW in Florida. We like to drive down so they can see a lot of the country and get to meet some great people along the way. That is if his Momma lets him fly alone.:scratchin We'll see.

Our plan has been to take each of our 7 GK's on a once in a lifetime trip just with Grandma and Grandpa. All fun and no rules. And we get to treat them like the special little people they are. I'm not sure who benefits the most, them or us. Why else whould I go on a roller coaster????

The reason we were considering driving out is because of DH. Although I've driven across most of Canada, he never has. We always fly. This was for him. He can do that another time. So - it's four down and three to go.

Our family really enjoys going to theme parks. Over the past few years, we've been to:

Disney World (multiple times)
Disney Land
Sea World
Universal Studios / Islands of Adventure
Busch Gardens
Carowinds
Six Flags Georgia & Ohio
etc...

And we convinced that even if Disney we're only operating 80% of their attractions, they would still be better than the rest. It's the Disney Difference. Enjoy your Disney trip with your grandchildren.::MickeyMo
