With ADR's not showing up on Disney's site, is it affecting cancellations?

We all know that Disney is sorting out some issues with their website not showing people's ADRs. I was just wondering, if people can't access their ADRs online (I know you can call and they should be there) do you think less ADR cancellations are occuring?
We're going in about a month and have been trying to change one ADR time (for Narcoosee's) relentlessly for the last 2 weeks. Checking the website nonstop. We think that the website screwup is directly affecting us, as well as others who are in our same shoes looking for other people's cancellations. It's real frustrating because I feel that there may be many ADRs available now if people had access to cancel them online (vs. having to call Disney to cancel, which the vast majority of people won't do). Thoughts?

true, I'm double booked for a reservation and I really don't want to call and cancel. It's not a popular restaurant though. If it were, I'd probably call. I would hope others would do the same.

I think, more than anything though, that people are panicking when they don't see their resies and are probably double booking without realizing it.

you are probably right..BUT, i checked yesterday morning for better times on 2 of our adr's...nothing better was avail., but then in the evening i was able to get both at better times. i booked the better times online, then called and canceled the previous times i had booked. so, cancellations are still happening, and at good restaurants at good times, but probably less than they would be if the system wasn't screwed up.

good luck, hope you get a better time at Narcoosee's!:goodvibes

I abosultly agree. I have also had this in my head over the past week too. I'm actually sitting on an ADR for the 50s PT for a party of TEN that I need to cancel and each day I check to see if I can pull it up. I am not going to sit on the phone for heaven's know how long doing the right thing. This afternoon I need to call DVC and since that is an 800 number, I will finally cancel that lunch reservation for Nov. 1. I do believe that there are going to be alot of empty tables. I had planned to just cancel my ADRs when I arrive next weekend.

I called via the Passholder number last night to cancel 5 ADRs that I couldn't pull up online anymore. I waited less than 2 minutes! The CM told me that they are working on the issue of ADRs not showing up and they hope to have it fixed very soon. So, maybe there is hope. I hated sitting on them, knowing we weren't going to use them. I hope that people would go ahead and call, but once the system is fixed, I bet more cancellations will happen when people log-in and look at their ressie list. I agree with PP though that some people are probably double booking since they don't see their ADRs. That's why we are going to definitely try just walking up to the restaurants when we get there. I think there will more no-shows with all this online ADR confusion. The CM I talked to last night must have told me 5 times to keep trying for the ressies I can't get because people are cancelling a lot. In the past, I've had many of them practically laugh at me when I am trying to book CRT less than 6 months in advance! So, I think there is hope for ressies to open up.

::yes:: I definitely agree that people are holding onto multiple ressies with fear that the original ones' may not be there. There is some truth to this though and don't want to alarm too many out there, but still a concern. So I've been calling to cancel resv. over the phone, called 3 times in the last 3 days cancelling and verifying conf. nos. In all times, I didn't wait no more than 3 minutes and great customer service. :thumbsup2 HOWEVER, today I called to cancel my resv at The Wave (not so popular) and she tried several ways of trying to retrieve it since I didn't have my conf. no. and it cannot be found! :scared1: So to my relief that my Coral Reef, Ohana & Le Cellier ressies are intact and I got the confirmations. But, to think that the missing ones' could happen to someone else's MOST IMPORTANT ressie is disturbing. :sad2: And it could possibly be there lost in the system, but holding a spot therefore the restaurant is showing booked when it's not. I'm sure NOSHOWS will be everywhere, so on the upside...always try a walkin and possibly luck out. :woohoo:
On the lighter note and for everyone else's sake who are struggling to get reservations, it would probably help if people cancel their unwanted ones. It really is not that big of a deal to call since it almost seems as if they've staffed it more due to this error so the wait is not long at all. :goodvibes

I am thinking this may be true. I would hope that people would cancel, but I can appreciate the difficulty of not being able to quickly do it online and having to jump thru hoops and then wait just to speak to a cm.

I hope the issue gets resolved soon.

Well I finally cancelled today. I had to call members services today to make some requests on a couple of my reservations and since I had a CM I felt good about on the phone, I trusted her to cancel. She did with no problem and I had to double check to make sure I still had the second one. She thanked me for freeing up the table for 10. It did take me two calls as the first call I didn't feel warm and fuzzy about, so made a quick request and ended it.

Since I was calling MS it was an 800 number and I had no wait.
