Day 4 - July 7th - Breakfast @ Kona Cafe, excellent as always! I didn't have the Tonga Toast though, but had some awesome eggs, biscuits, bacon & potatos, DH had The Big Kahuna, which had all that plus ham, sausage, french toast & pancakes
(he likes BIG b-fast's) Kona Cafe has the best coffee, I would go there just to have coffee, if nothing else!
After b-fast, off to Epcot to tour the other part of Future World, again, another day with no crowds, except of course, for the tour groups, but again, we worked around them. We rode Universe of Energy, Cranium Command, Body Wars and Test Track (longest wait time there, 20 min in standby, I think the fast pass line was longer) shopped at Mousegears then back to GF before rain came through. DD & DS had their portraits done by a GF artist in the lobby, they came out awesome! There were 3 or 4 different artists during the week, and the woman that we had, really did a wonderful job, they look exactly like their portraits. Total cost for the 2 portraits which were on 11 x 14 felt with pastels, $150.00. After rain stopped, we headed back to Epcot for dinner at Electric Umbrella which is a good fast food type of place, pizza, chicken fingers and burgers were had and were enjoyable. After dinner, we headed over between Japan and Morrocco and found a good place to catch TOD parade and we stayed in that same spot for a GREAT view of Illuminations.
We let crowds subside before heading towards the monorail. We had a nice, leisurely, uncrowded walk back.
Day 5 - July 8th - Up early for Cindy's b-fast, ressie at 8:20, which meant evil wake-up call at 6:30 ewwwwwwwwww. We waited in a small crowd of people at MK gate, they won't let anyone in until 8 a.m. Walking towards the castle in an empty park was the nicest thing. It looked like a ghost town . . .no people anywhere, very peaceful.
We were seated right away. Breakfast was good. It consisted of croissants, muffins and fruit to start with, coffee (rated it up there with Kona Cafe) DS was given pancakes with bacon. DH, DD and myself had the pre-plated b-fast which had eggs, stuffed french toast (with cheese), potatos, sausage & bacon. Seeing the princesses was pretty cool, it's a must do, at least once. Sleeping Beauty was also there, I must say that I have never seen her.
After we were finished with breakfast, we walked back out of the castle, it was still before park opening time (9:00) so we were like the only ones there . . .some characters were around, Chip & Dale, Mickey & Minnie for pics with guests that had an early b-fast in the park. They were located right near the partners statue. We all had our pics taken with Minnie & Mickey, of course. Then we headed off to the Main Street Confectionary to get some good shots of the kids in that huge candy store. As we left the confectionary, it must of turned 9:00 because guests were pouring in the MK by the hundreds. We were pretty glad we didn't plan on staying there that day.
We headed back to the GF by Ferry Boat, it was like our own private ferry because nobody but us were on it. DS had his pirate cruise to go to that day, so we headed back to the room to load up the camera.
At the Pirate Cruise there were about 24 "little pirates" waiting to board their "pirate ship". DS got partnered with a girl who was 10, he's 9, and he was a little shy. They had to hold hands the whole time because they were partners . . .LOL DS exclaimed that they had to keep switching hands because their hands were getting sweaty and he thought that was just gross. LOL All the kids on the Pirate Cruise were given bandanas and were fitted for lifevests and we watched them head off to their adventure with their Captain Drew and Other Crew members.
DS had a great time searching for the lost treasure. They were all given PB & J sandwiches, gummies, rice krispy treats and juice boxes for lunch. When they returned from their treasure hunt, they each had a bag of "loot" which consisted of gold coins (not the chocolate kind) rings, mardi gras beads, creepy crawly bugs and a compass. He really enjoyed it, as did the other kids who were there . . .I would say the youngest was 6. There were alot of 7, 8 & 9 year olds.
Another rain storm blew in around 1pm and we headed off to Epcot in our ponchos (which we didn't need for long) to tour some countries. American Adventures was a really moving show, it was really hard not to shed a tear, we enjoyed it very much. We also toured Mexico and went on their boat ride, which we never did before, it was ok, almost like Small World in one part of the ride. We did the boat ride in Norway, had pretzels outside of Germany and visited Italy. We ate dinner at Liberty Inn, pretty good for counter service. Had chicken and burgers.
We then went through Innoventions West and sent some pic emails to family and friends. We watched the fountain do its show, and kids had a blast running through all the mist it was letting off. Then back to GF for some night swimming.
