Our final evil wake-up call, oh how I'll miss that evil laughter! I awaken early so I could finish packing up all our stuff, and WOW, we had a lot of stuff!
The night before I switched my b-fast ressies to Kona Cafe for our last b-fast. It was supposed to be 1900 Park Fare, but I couldn't stand to eat there again.
We rode the Ferry Boat over to the Poly where we had our last b-fast. B-fast as usual was great! DH had The Big Kahuna again, DS had the Mickey Cake, and DD had Pancakes w/sausage, I had the usual, EGGS! Hmmmm wonder what my cholesterol level is now that I've eaten eggs almost every day? And bacon . . .hmmmmmmm.
Anyway, after b-fast we rode the monorail for the last time
Oh how I'll miss the "Please Stand Clear Of The Doors" motto. While DH did some last minute pin buys, I headed to check-out to pay my phone expenses and then back to the room to double check my suitcases, made sure we had everything. Then I went out to the balcony. My last view of the castle . . .I couldn't believe how fast that week went . . .when we first arrived, it felt like I was there forever, and at the end, it felt like I didn't see enough . . .guess we'll have to return.
All in all, it wasn't as hot and humid as everyone said it was going to be, I'd go in the summer time again. It was mid to upper 80's during the day, some humidity, but not BAD humidity, rained on a brief daily basis, and the crowds were there, but I worked my way around them. I would say it was as crowded as it was during Easter 2000. I didn't like the fact that the parks closed early, because I could of kept going and going. The MK closed at 10 p.m. every night, Epcot World Showcase 9 p.m., but Future World closed at 7:00, which was way too early in my opinion. MGM closed at 9 p.m., but most of the shows and attractions closed early there, so that stunk. I would of liked to see the parks stay open till at least 11 p.m.
Disney security was a joke in my opinion, I only encountered one security guard that actually went through every single part of my camcorder bag. The other security guards just had me open it up one side of it and said your all set. I didn't feel any safer there than I felt when we visited in 1999 or 2000. The only difference I did see was all the helicopters that flew over the property on a daily basis, I don't know if this was for security reasons or what, but they were up there and circled each park and resort.
The airport security at MCO was very lapse in my opinion, while my bags were going through, the security person was getting wanded, so they weren't paying attention to the screen. I fully expected better security at MCO. The airport security at Bradley was much better than that . . .DH got selected to be wanded, patted down and his shoes got examined. I got through each airport with matches for my cigs on my carry on luggage, and never once was asked to disgard them. I guess it might of been different if I had a lighter on me.
To sum our vacation up - It was a great time, and I didn't once think about world events while on vacation. In fact, we didn't even see the news or read the paper. It was really nice to get away from it all.
Well, that's it . . .if there are any questions on something I might of missed, please feel free to ask.
