Hi everyone,

Disney STILL haven't got back to me so I am back on the boards trying to find out some more information here (I always seem to find more here anyway :))

So, what is included in a wishes wedding? Do you get a cocktail hour after the ceremony? Are there any restrictions on where you can have your coctail party/reception. etc...

Please throw all the info you have at me. I would be greatly appreciated ;)

The Wishes wedding is not a package, so nothing is included.

You create the entire event from the ground up, selecting locations for the ceremony and reception and adding on things like dessert parties, welcome parties, etc. Most people choose to have a cocktail hour between the ceremony and the reception, but you don't have to.

Many of the locations are detailed on the official Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings website, which is a good place to start. :thumbsup2

Mouseweddings.com has location pictures, but the pricing is out of date.

And MagicalKingdoms.com has a section for weddings, including an excellent selection of menus.

Once you start to visualize what you want, the people on these boards are a fabulous resource for specific questions about the process. :goodvibes

Just like lurkyloo said, nothing's included. You just have to meet the minimum expenditure whether it's $10k, $12k, or $15k. WHat you do to meet that minimum is up to you!

Every element you have at your wedding cost a certain amount, like if you want to use the wedding pavilion for your ceremony the rental fee is $3k.

I see. So cake etc is extra cost?

Do you know roughly how much they charge for wedding cakes? And are there any venues I can't hire?

Thanks :)

Yes - I guess you could say that every single element of the wedding costs extra.... It's not like you give them $10,000 and get a stock ceremony and reception and then add the cake and the carriage, etc. (Only the Escape wedding is a package that includes specific elements like the cake, violinist, etc.) Planning a Wishes wedding is the same process as planning a wedding anywhere else. You pick and choose all the elements - it's just that the total cost must be $10,000 or more.

Cakes range from about $400 for a simple 2-tier cake to $1,500 or more for a 5- or 6-tier cake with tons of decoration.

It's hard to answer your venue question because there are only certain areas that have facilities for holding events. Like, if you wanted to get married while riding the safari in Animal Kingdom, that's not possible. But if you want to have a reception in a courtyard outside the entrance to the safari ride, that's possible.

Maybe share a bit about what you have in mind and we can come up with some ideas for you. :thumbsup2

You do get two free Annual Passes to Disney if you have a wedding there... so I guess you could say that is "included" with the wedding. (Right?)

Just in case you don't know about it, my best tip would be to check out the following link for Lurkyloo's ebook. It's everything you'd ever want to know about DFTWs. I highly recommend it, and I know that a lot of other DIS brides do too!! :goodvibes

Lurkyloo! This might not be the best place to post this, but I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed reading your wedding report! Very informative!

Act1980 (hey, I bet we're the same age!) - I recommend reading Lurkyloo's ebook also because it was really helpful to me, who also someday plans to be a Disney bride. I have to find my Prince Charming first, though.

Thank you so much! Maybe my next book should be "How to Find Prince Charming So You Can Have A Disney Wedding And/Or Honeymoon" :rotfl:
