Wishes vs Illuminations DP

Hi to another UK Bride. We have been wondering about this too and have come to decision that it will be a Wishes DP, mainly because we love Wishes (we got engaged right after them) and also we can have an outside photographer there.

We had an Illuminations DP because we wanted the experience and energy of having a party inside one of the parks.

We booked an Illuminations DP for after the reception and a Wishes DP at Sago Cay the night before. Like someone else said - it would depend on if you want to have an outside photographer. Since they aren't allowed in the parks, Sago Cay or the Marina for Wishes would be a great alternative. Then, it depends on the amount of guests you have.

Like the above poster, I had one of each, and I ended up liking Wishes @ Sago Cay a lot better. I think it depends on your personality which location you would like better; for me I liked Sago Cay better because of the privacy and the ambiance of the GF.

Boardwalk Bride - how close up was the viewing for Sago of the fireworks? I am curious as to how close up you can actually see them! Do you have any pics from Sago of the show?

Unfortunately I did not have a photographer there, so this is the best picture I have:

I really enjoyed the view, although it is much different from seeing it in MK. The fireworks are not over the castle, but being at the GF and looking over the lake watching them made the setting really romantic.

Does anyone have any idea how much they charge to have the wishes music piped in at Sago Cay?

It depends on how many speakers you need for the size of your group and starts at $500.

I chose Epcot for our DP due maintly to the time and that I wanted to be in a park for the atmosphere. Illiminations is always a 9pm and for the MK fireworks the time changes depending on the season/park hours. For our wedding date the MK fireworks were at 10pm and I thought this time was little late after a full day especially for the children.

A lot of our guests enjoyed the parks for a few days before the wedding and had seen the MK fireworks (some of them twice) not many had seen the Epcot show so it made it a more special. The viewing fee did not bother me - and was less than piping in the music at Sago Cay.

I loved UK Lochside for our small party - it was perfect. The British music was playing and some folks danced a little. We brought a ton of glow sticks, glow glasses etc that we got a Dollar Stores leading up to the wedding and we had a really fun relaxing time partying and being a bit silly which suited our (and our families) personalities. We let people change clothes if they wanted to and everyone commented how it was a perfect end to the day! When I get the photo's from DPS I will post them up.

I chose a Wishes DP at Sago Cay for a few reasons...

1. Illuminations is not as spectacular as when I was a kids IMO

2. I could not bring myself to pay a "viewing fee" for my guests

3. I was afraid what would happened if it rained (even though this is a concern for any DP)

So it did drizzle on the night of my DP, and we had the food in a ballroom at the GF. Then we went outside to view the fireworks. Photography wasn't an issue, my sister took photos of us. I did not get the music piped in because of cost...just seemed a little too pricey for 10 minutes worth of music.

We had a good time and I am glad I did it, but it was not really an essential part of the day.
