Does anyone have any good tips or tricks for handling the aftermath of Wishes? The last time we were there, we got caught in the masses of people. DS was ready to go back to the hotel - NOW. We were near Tommorrowland, and just simply could not get out of the park thru the throngs of people. We weren't even planning on viewing the parade or Wishes - just trying to leave about the same time. To be honest, I don't recall exactly when we were trying to leave - during parade, after wishes, between the two??? - I just remember DS having a total meltdown - and this was in a slow time. The crowds just freaked him out, and it was made that much worse because he was anxious to leave anyway. He uses a WC in the parks, so of course that makes it much more difficult to navigate.

Now he is scared to death of that happening again, but we would like to view Wishes. Any hints for where to view Wishes from within the park, with a good view, but the avoid the masses? I thought about trying to hit Wishes on a night the park will be open after (maybe EMH), but with DS I'm usually pushing his limits to even still be in a park at 9:00.

We tried to get out once and just couldn't make it through the crowd with DD's chair. Next time, I bought snacks in advance, saved them for afterwards, and then we sat off to the side and chowed down while waiting for the park to clear.

We actually planned one attraction for after the fireworks (the park was still open for another hour or two), which cut down on the stress. I do better with PLANS (lots of them!), so knowing I was going to go watch Philharmagic was awesome - and it let most of the crowds thin out. I use a wheelchair, so I get really claustrophobic in a crowd (and all I see is a sea of tushes!)

Planning ahead for where you will go might be nice... We watch on either the Frontierland or Tomorrowland side (though last time we watched from the wheelchair viewing area in front of the Castle), and then we would go to an atttraction from there. HM for Frontierland, Buzz Lightyear for Tomorrowland is what I would suggest. Both have continuously moving lines, so the lines should not be too bad that time of night

Thanks everyone. We just got back last night and did successfully see Wishes. CheshireFigment - He didn't go for your suggestion - too far from the entrance - he was still scared of fighting the crowds walking out. He also picked up a new fear this trip - crowded buses. Even though he is always sitting, usually with a wall (of the upper level of the bus) next to him on on side and me on the other, and the WC parked in front of us (which gave him some space), he still freaked out when the bus was standing room only.

We ended up standing (him sitting) right at the rail around the small flower garden right in front of the train station. We stayed on the train-station side, so there was about 4 or 5 feet where no one could stand in front of us. We got there about 8:20 or 8:30. By 9:00, the area between the train station and that little garden was fairly full, but not packed. Right after the last "boom" we were able to turn and quickly walk to exit of the park without being surrounded by a throng of people, and even made it to the bus stop and got loaded before there were enough people to fill the bus.
