Wishes From Polynesian Beach?

I have been planning to spend an evening walking around the Polynesian, trying the Lapu Lapu, getting Dole Whips for the kids and then heading down to the beach to relax and watch the Water Pageant and Wishes. However, I recently read that the new bungalows now block the view of the Pageant/Wishes from the beach. Is this true? Or is there still a spot to relax and view them or should I plan to maybe watch it from somewhere else?

Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

You have a lovely view of the pageant and Wishes from the Poly beach, bungalows and all. Facing the water/castle, the beach to the left side (towards the Grand Floridian) has a great view. People will be sitting there in anticipation ahead of time. It's a great, relaxing experience. Get there early.

I hear that some busy times/holidays they are limiting this experience to Poly guests only, but that's not an all-the-time policy.

We watched from the beach last week. The bungalows block the view of some rooms but there is still plenty of room on the beach. Get there early, settle in to watch the movie and then watch Wishes. Sadly, what has changed is they no longer pipe in the music

As for limiting it to Poly only guests at times, that has got to be hard, to darn near impossible. That's a huge area to block off and control access too. I can't imagine how they manage that.

The official policy is that the beach is for Polynesian resort guests only. It's just not enforced all the time. Like AngiTN said, it's a large area, and having CM's patrol the area is both time consuming and a strain on personnel. The only time it's strongly enforced is on holidays like July 4th, New Years Eve, etc.

Just be advised that they do have magic band scanners. If you are not staying there and by a tiny, small chance they are checking, they may ask you to leave.

Atleast it did on 8/12, you can hear it if you are in front of the Hawaii building but not if you are closer to the pool area. I found this out the hard way as I was sitting by beach by pool and didn't hear it a few nights before. On our last night I was walking past Hawaii building and the music was playing , It was also being streamed in the lobby. So they either started to play it again or I was to far away from speakers before. They were not scanning magic bands. The resort is amazing!!

I wonder if you are hearing it from a bungalow or from the club level? They do have music both places. But the reason you didn't hear it further away is they don't play it on the beach proper any more like they used to

As a prior and future Poly guest, I would be less than thrilled if non resort guests took up the available seating/hammocks on the beach to watch wishes. Please be considerate of the guests paying $500+/night for this special perk.

We have stayed at the Poly for our past few stays, and this time (next week!!!) we are staying the WL. We have an ADR for 9:30pm at the Kona Cafe. We were thinking of going out to the beach before dinner to see the fireworks. Do they allow guests of the restaurants on site to view the fireworks from the beach?

Yes from some of the tables (some are blocked by the waterfall/back of the kids splash area) and yes they pipe in the music-the night we went there was actually live music on the patio but the musician took a break when wishes was about to start and they piped in the music.

I'm not real happy when I stay at the CR, GF, or Poly and people going there for meals cause a jam at the monorail but it happens. Even though I don't like it, I expect it when making reservations at those resorts. If people choose to stay at the Poly, they need to realize that non resort guests will watch fireworks from the beach. It will remain that way unless and until the Poly changes and/or enforces the policy of the beach being for resort guests only. I'm sure it comes down to $$$ because some non resort guests will buy food, souvenirs, maybe make a reservation for a future stay, etc..

There is usually room for everyone except during peak times, however during those times Disney usually sends out a few CM's to scan magic bands and make sure the beach is resort guests only.

There is no official rule at Disney about restricting access to public spaces (like the beach) ANY guest may use it including those day guests who are staying offsite. The only time they limit access is during high peak times, and any resort may do that (PO resorts did at times restrict their parking lot due to people using the boats to go to DTD, or the Epcot area hotels limiting access during F&W Festival) due to crowd control.

Club Level lounges, gyms, pools, those are areas where Disney has official rules, but not restaurants, lobbies, transportation, playground, beaches, movies, marshmallow roasts or walkways.

I'm pretty sure Poly guests would lose their minds if they were told that they couldn't attend Chip and Dale's Sing Along, or use the boats at the PO resorts to visit DTD or attend the drawing lessons in the Art of Animation Lobby, or go look at the Animals at the Animal Kingdom Lodge overlooks. Those things are popular and because they are held in public areas anyone can use them, even Guests paying $500 dollars a night at one of the MK resorts.

It would not have bothered me in the least if a non resort guest was there. However the one thing that really bothered me during our stay was the amount of people that used the resort monorail at MK closing time to get back to the TTC when the express monorail goes straight there. We waited in line forever and then were squished into the monorail like sardines. When the monorail stopped at the TTC almost everyone riding got off. Maybe I am missing something but what purpose does the resort monorail have for stopping at the TTC at night when the park is closed? I just think it would be nice as a perk for staying at a monorail resort only have stops made at the resorts. If the line was that long because everyone in line was going back to the resorts that would have been fine but the amount of people that got off at that stop was astounding. Sorry vent over.

When we stay at the Poly, we often get off at the TTC and walk, particularly if the monorail is crowded.
