I'm bringing my grandmother to Disney next month and we'll be pushing her in a wheelchair. Where are some good spots to watch the fireworks where she'd be able to see?

they have roped off areas in MK along main street and around the castle hub. they fill up quickly, so get there a little early.

Those are for the parade and not for Wishes. See PM for good spots

Agree. Once the parade is over, they take the ropes down and there is no specific area for guests using wheelchairs.

I won't PM you with spots since several posters are already sending you information.

A tip I use is ..... look for curbs.

If you can position the wheelchair (scooter in my case) at the edge of a curb, than others in the party can stand.....one step down and keep the view open for you. They can sit on the curb as they wait (you will have to arrive a little early for this type of spot).

It has always worked well for us. Everyone is pretty ready for a rest at that point.

For Wishes we plant ourselves near the outside concession stand so important things like popcorn and drinks are close at hand.....see, it's getting better and better! ......a seat for everyone.....refreshments AND Fireworks!

apologies, i misread.

but if you are there for the parade, you can stay there for the fireworks!

We have used the porch of Crystal Palace. You are elevated there and if you get up front you won't have a blocked view. It's not the greatest; because, there are some trees and such, but it's ok.

If you can afford the dessert party that's a great view especially if you can be in the front there. This area is elevated, too.

If anyone could PM me with additional viewing spots I would appreciate having some other options myself. My mom is in a wheelchair. TIA

I wonder if the upper level of the railroad station might be good? Up against the fence maybe?

The problem with the upper level of the Main Street Station is that you have to get there more than two hours before the parade to get a space next to the railing.

I find the best spot for us is in front of the Plaza restaurant up at the fence, overlooking the rose garden. That way, no one will be standing in front of the WC, and you get to see Tink fly.

I will have someone with a wheelchair for MNSSHP. May I have a PM with suggestions?

fireworks, parade, candy stations

i was on a scooter and just sat in front of the castle. we were trying to leave to avoid the crowds but had to stop to watch wishes and glad we got stuck otherwise i would not have had the experience and beautiful photos i took while sitting there.

Basically, what you need is a spot that you can defend against idiots. Never underestimate just how determined an idiot can be! They will duck past you, climb over footplates, shift sideways to stand in front of you, and basically act like... well.... idiots! :rotfl:

I find that any place where you can get up against railings is good. If the footplates are against the rails, somebody would have to sit on your lap to get in your way (I wouldn't put that past some people!). One of the best views is at the hub or flag on Main Street, if you can get up against the railing of the flower beds. However, these areas fill up early, and get very crowded in busy times.

Wherever you choose to sit, don't be afraid to get vocal! Most people are off in a world of their own in Disney, and won't realise they are blocking someone's view - a polite 'excuse me' will normally solve the problem. If they are one of the real idiots, you may need to make a bit more of a fuss, but I've not had too many problems get this far.

Thankfully, the majority of Guests are lovely people, who will go out of their way to help you out if you need it. I've had people let me pull in front of them for parades (we forgot about it, and only showed up as it was starting, so couldn't get to any viewing areas); offer me help with doors / tray / dropped items; moved their kids aside to make sure I had a good view; and generally helped to spread the Disney magic :goodvibes

Hope you have a great trip! :thumbsup2

I agree that anyplace with a railing is benefitical to someone sitting in a wheelchair. Also look for unusual spots like behind the castle or actually down in the rose garden. Although the fireworks will not be situated above the castle in these circumstances, the crowds will be less. Or, you can go over to the CR, GF or Poly resorts and view them from there. They usually pipe in the music for the fireworks. ;)
