Wishes fireworks from Poly Beach or CR Tower Balcony?

I just can't figure this out. We're staying at the CR and have a PS at Ohana our first night at 6:20 with Wishes at 9.

We could hang around the Poly and then go to the beach for the fireworks, but the kids might get bored if we have to wait too long after dinner. I saw a photo of the fireworks from the beach and it looks very nice.

The other choice is going back to the CR and watching wishes from the room (assuming our room faces the MK and is high up enough). Does anyone have a photo of the fireworks from a CR tower balcony? Are they better from elsewhere in the CR? Don't say the CG, since we can't go there when we're going to Ohana! Is there some floor we should be higher than to see them?

How does the fireworks view compare from the two resorts?

Thanks!

we watched the fireworks from our CR tower balcony (8th floor) two weeks ago. It was a strange perspective because you're watching it from an angle so the fireworks are off to the right of the castle.

i would think it would be better from the Polynesian.

Gotta disagree with previous poster...watching from your balcony at the CR has to be the best place of all. Any floor is fine, but the higher the better IMHO...you feel so close to the "magic"...we were on 10th floor dead center of the hotel last summer and it was spectacular.

I've got a unique perspective on WISHES.

I've seen them from my LV room at the Polynesian, from Main Street, from the Grand One floating in from of the MK on Seven Seas Lagoon, from my CR 14th floor blacony, and from my backyard. The angle from my backyard is facing the CR--just slightly at a different angle, so it's like looking at the from the opposite direction. (Hope that makes sense.)

They are best in Main Street, or from the Grand One. The next best view would be from a LV room at the PR, or the beach there. After that the view is actually better from my house--some of the things just aren't apparant from the CR, ,like the 3D intertwined hearts.

Just as an FYI, the Polynesian Beach has signs that it is for the exclusive use of Polynesian Resort Guests. In other words, if you don't have a room there, you're not supposed to be using it.

Anne - I'd love to see more photos of the view of WDW from your house! I just can't imagine living somewhere where you can actually see it!

To everyone - thanks for the responses. We've decided to just go back to the CR and watch from the room (or 4th floor, depending on what we're doing) so the kdis can start to wind down for the night. We plan on running them ragged for the next 3 days after that :earboy2: And since we plan to see Wishes from inside the MK another night, I'm not too worried about getting the best view the first night.

Then explain it to the hundreds of people decending on the beaches every July 4th. :confused3 :rotfl:

I don't think the Polynesian would have a problem with families that spend well over $100 on dinner or the luau watching the fireworks from there.

Which is why this past July 4th they were being proactive about keeping those who were not WDW resort guests off the beach. It's simply not fair to those paying hundreds of dollars a night to not be able to enjoy the beach due to the hordes who choose to stay elsewhere for whatever reason.

As I mentioned, the beaches are signed for Polynesian guest use only, and the security there can and do ask for ID's and ask people who don't have the right to be there to leave. As long as you are ok with that, whatever. Personally I wouldn't knowingly "break a rule", and would die of embarressment if I was asked to leave.

We must have stayed at a different Polynesian resort than you did then. We watched the fireworks from the pool and saw people carting armloads of chairs from the patios and pool tables. They were also taking huge stacks of pool towels. People came in off the ferry from MK and swam in their park clothes. There were also crowds coming off the monorail hauling coolers with them.

We saw the lifeguards asking people to leave the pool area when they couldn't produce ID. It was a zoo though, I'll agree with you there. We took out the Grand One on the 4th so we didn't have to deal with it.

On a crowded holiday like July 4th they close the beach to guests not staying at the resort. On other nights I don't think they do. We didn't even think about watching the fireworks from the Poly beach until we were walking through the lobby after dinner at 'Ohana one evening and got talking to a manager who asked if we were enjoying our stay. We told him we just there for dinner and how lovely we thought the Poly was. He mentioned that we should walk to the beach to see the fireworks. Of course we would never occupy chairs and let other people stand or anything but that's just common courtesy. I don't think anyone cares about just standing on the beach for a few minutes especially after dropping $150+ at their restaurant.

I watched from the poly pool last summer and we had no music. Did we miss it or is there none?

Hi.. Just thought I'd add a bit: We ate CM's one evening last August, and went out on the balcony on the same floor.. and it was real pretty. We were able to see ! I have a picture of the castle from that angle.. hopefully I can attach it here.. if not, I will surely keep trying to post the picture.
 Well.. guess I can't attach it... sorry.. maybe someone can give me a hint on how ? :guilty:
