For those who have in the past Fast Passed Wishes, what time can you enter the fast pass area? I see that the fast pass time is from 840 to 855, can I not enter until 840?

That "5 minutes early" thing is (often) true at "attractions" (rides,) but there are very often different rules for FPs for "shows."
(Wishes is a "show.")
Also, in this discussion we need to mention that you want to be in the Wishes FP+ area in plenty of time to see the spectacular show "Celebrate the Magic" (projected on the front of the castle facade) which starts 15 minutes before Wishes.
Some say they like to be on the east side, as Tinker Bell flies nearly overhead.
I say it might not always be an "advantage" to be too close to "Tink."
Otherwise, take a look (as best you can) that night and pick the side with fewer other guests.
Below is a "work-in-progress" of my overview of the new Hub. Some of the "outer" sidewalks shown have not been built yet. Some of the unfinished areas have since been finished. The original photo is by Scott Keating, posted on WDWMagic.

Just know that despite the Wishes official FP+ reservation window, you can enter the garden ahead of time. We've gotten there at 8 twice for a 10 pm Wishes. It was a nice break, we grabbed snacks and watched MSEP glide by.
It's not ideal viewing for MSEP, since so much happens at street level and you can only really see the floats from the gardens. But I saw it as a bonus viewing for MSEP during our trips.
