Wishes during MVMCP. From outside the park.

Has anyone watched Wishes from outside the Magic Kingdom during the Christmas Party? I was planning to try on arrival day as we aren't doing the parks. I have dinner booked at Chef Mickeys and wanted to watch with my 2 boys who have never seen live fireworks before. This would be a primer for watching from inside the park on our last night.
What would be some of the best spots for this? I was thinking either the Poly beach, or maybe just outside the MK gates (or is that too much of a tease for our first visit)? I suppose music is not piped as it is MVMCP night and Wishes is not officially on the schedule according to the Go Disney site.

Why not try the the 4th floor observation deck (open to everyone) at the contemporary since youre already there? Apparently they pipe in music from that spot! Great place to watch fireworks after a lovely dinner at chef mickeys. Your boys will love it!

The appropriate music will be piped in. Disney does not list Holiday Wishes on their public calendars during party nights because the park is only open to those holding a special event ticket.
