Wishes Dessert Party

Has anyone done this Wishes Dessert thing on Tomorrowland Terrace? Is it worth it?

Following post. Also, would love to know if anyone has done the same day reservations for Wishes, that was recently announced but not confirmed.

We have done the Wishes Party and it was very good but I don't think I would do it again in mk.

The desserts and food were awesome but the drink selection was so so..it was coffee tea hot chocolate and sugar mix drinks. At the other parties there were alcoholic drinks or non alcoholic options

We got seats right at the edge of the Terrace the view for the fireworks is not bad but if you were further back I don't know if the roof will be blocking some of the view. Although the castle show some of the tree blocked the castle.

We were there in January and they may have reworked the party a little but I don't know if it is for every show or just special event fireworks.

We are doing the Halloween dessert party and we were told now there is a special viewing area for dessert party guests and then you can go back to the terrace for more snacks

If you have not done a dessert party I would recommend it but the star wars dessert party was a lot better but it is almost all the same desserts plus the alcoholic drinks

Star Wars Dessert Party? Where is that? Just during certain times?

I am basically new to Disney World. Been 11 years since my last trip. First time ever making dining reservations or anything "extra".

HS has revamped Star Wars on June 17 so I don't when they are releasing the dessert party information but there is also an illuminations one in Epcot

We have not tried that one

They should be releasing the schedules soon

For your dining reservations spice road I hear is great place to see illuminations from. If you are staying in a Disney hotel you can book 180 days in advance

We will be there Oct 30th-Nov 4th. I have dining reservations set. But I only just heard about the Wishes Dessert thing today. And it got me thinking perhaps I should book something like that.

If you haven't tried one then I would try it although it can be expensive if you have a large group.

I think they are around $70 dollars each per person

I would be prepare to eat to get your money's worth. Desserts ice cream cakes fruit and drinks

Mk is the only one that doesn't serve alcohol but HS and Epcot do

If you do mk wishes try to get there as early as possible to get as close as possible to the edge. They are good but if sweet treats are not your thing then these are not worth it.

I booked HS dessert party a couple of weeks ago for the week of June 18th. Book the party under dining reservations.

I'm a big dessert fan so I have done the dessert party. For me it wasn't worth it. Maybe we went during an off night but there wasn't much variety and I didn't eat much which is a shocker. I was expecting to shut the buffet down hahaha Desserts are my weakness

There have been a couple of changes over the last few years that have really devalued the dessert party. First, Disney SUBSTANTIALLY increased the prices. When we first went a few years ago it was around $20 a person, perhaps a bit more. Now it is $50 a person. Disney no longer offers reserved seating, so you have to show up early to get a decent seat. I also understand that they are letting in more people than in the past so it is difficult to get a good seat. All that said, when we went the first time (before these changes) we really enjoyed it - we had a good seat, it wasn't crowded so we had a good view of the fireworks show, and the desserts weren't bad (not great but not bad). I would not do it at the current price point, but I believe it is still very popular. I am thinking of booking the party in December if it is offered. My DS is pretty darn claustrophobic in crowds, and I think that if he is going to be sort of comfortable viewing Wishes with my DDIL we need to make some sort of arrangement. I booked an early dinner at BOG so we would be able to enjoy some desserts at the party. Can anyone advise how early we should check in for a decent seat? I know we will need to belly up to the railing to see the show, but I would like to be able to choose a nice seat if possible.

I went to the Wishes dessert party on June 2. We booked it so my 88yo mom, who is in a wheelchair, could have a view of all of the nighttime entertainment. In years past, if we tried to watch from Main Street or the hub, she could nothing but other peoples back and butts. We were so happy when the FP viewing area was available on the new hub grass in front of Casey's and The Plaza because we could get FPs, get there early and secure a spot by the front railing so there were no people directly in front of her. Sadly, they did away with the FP option, so this past trip we opted to try the dessert party. My husband, 2 kids & I went many years ago, but I was curious about all of the changes and hoping it would provide a good view for my mom.

Having been to the dessert party before, I realized that the view from Tomorrowland Terrace is definitely not as good as the hub grass area, but at least we wouldn't be shoulder-to-shoulder trying to vie for a position in a huge sea of people. I had been following another thread about all of the changes to the dessert party and knew that we needed to arrive early in order to get a table by the railing so my mom so have a decent view. We arrived at 8:05 for our 9:00 party. We had about 5-6 parties in front of us. The cast members started letting us in about 8:45. When we attended years ago everyone had assigned tables including a little paper table tent with our family name on it. Also on our previous visit, a photopass photographer was there to take our picture when we arrived and the picture was printed and given to us before we left....now there is no picture included. This time a cast member showed us to a section, but we were allowed to choose our own table. We tried to find a table with the least obstructed view. Because of landscaping and the new turrets, most, if not all, of the views are somewhat obstructed. When we attended years ago, I was not impressed with the food and that opinion did not change after our recent visit. The desserts were set up on one side of the terrace and drinks on the other side. There just aren't many of those desserts that I cared for at all. Honestly, I would have been happier with some frozen treats like Mickey bars or ice cream sandwiches and some cookies. There were no cookies at our dessert party! I tried almost everything and was impressed with nothing. The cheese was okay. I did get some scooped ice cream and added some of the drinking chocolate to it and that was pretty tasty.

Overall, having experienced the Wishes dessert party of the past, I would never recommend the dumbed-down, more expensive party. In the past, before the hub refurbishment, this was one of the better views, and for $30, it was worth not being in crowded throng of people, plus you had some desserts, even though they weren't great. For $70, it's just not worth it at all. The view is more obstructed than most places on Main Street and doesn't even compare to the great views from the hub grass. Also, the fireworks are to the right of the castle if you are at the dessert party versus the hub grass where it is a perfect dead-center view. I'm glad my mom didn't have an army of people around her and we had a place to sit, but it wasn't worth $70 per person ($210 for all 3 of us!). I tried to attach a picture I took of our view. It's a horrible picture, and sadly I didn't get many since I was assisting mom most of the time we were there. Next time we will get to the hub grass super early and get some hot dogs from Casey's!!

Thank you for the report. I hope others also share their experiences. I wish Disney would bring back the FP+ or at least do something to link a restaurant package, like they just announced for the Electric Parade.
