Wishes Dessert Party

I can't decide whether to try the Wishes Dessert Party. Any opinions?

I would love to do it but my husband does not like desserts My kids and I would eat but not sure it's worth it if he won't ...

Just returned from WDW last Sunday. We did the Wishes Dessert Party on Monday, March 28. It was our second time.

I LOVE desserts and I love Wishes! So I call it a "win-win!"

To me, what I like about it is you have a reserved seat, so you know you can sit for a little while; you get as much dessert as you want (both times we did NOT eat dinner prior - nothing like stuffing yourself with dessert for dinner ) and I like being able to see Wishes without fighting the crowds.

I look at it like this - it is similar in price to a sit-down meal but you get an extra perk of watching Wishes.

The night we went, it was pouring rain! I was actually surprised they didn't cancel Wishes. So a big added perk then was being dry and still getting to enjoy the food & fireworks. Plus now you get to watch the new castle show prior to the fireworks (can't recall the name of it).

When we were there last week, almost no one stood to watch Wishes (probably because of the rain), so we got to sit the entire time. It was VERY enjoyable and I would not hesitate to do it again.

We regretted not doing Wishes Dessert last Sep. My DH ended up getting table front of Plaza and waited over 1.5 hours. I took DS for rides in mean time and it definitely wasn't fun waiting. This time, we will do wishes so everyone could enjoy. We will most likely do early dinner around 4 so we could enjoy those yummy desserts.

We would NEVER go again. For my family, none of us really enjoyed the desserts. (hard to believe, I know!) The desserts we tried did NOT taste good to any of us (we don't enjoy coffee flavored desserts or mango shooters...YUCK ) The other options for us were things like fruit, which don't really qualify as dessert at my house, and chocolate chip cookies and rice krispies, once again, not really that fabulous if your looking for wonderful desserts.
There were a very FEW that we did enjoy, but none of us ate enough to justify the costs. And for us, the seating (well, standing) just isn't worth it either. We can find a nice spot on main street that works just as well.
My family personally will never pay that much for below average desserts, but many people here have really enjoyed it.
I guess if you have the extra cash to spend, sure...go ahead and try it. You'll never know until you do. We found out that we don't ever need to go again. Lesson learned!

We actually liked some of the desserts, but didn't get a chance to eat many of them. Despite the fact that we left several personal belongings on the table because we wanted to come back and finish eating, they cleared our table while we watched Wishes (and it had to have been pretty obvious we weren't done eating.) We were in the front row of tables, and I wouldn't have even gotten up except the Photopass photographer told us you pretty much HAD to stand up at the railing to see.

I was also just flabbergasted when they told me DS12, who has mild tree nut allergies, couldn't eat from the buffet; they proceeded to bring him a special plate. It consisted of strawberries, grapes, sorbet and some not very appetizing looking brownies and chocolate chip cookies. It looked very healthy...what kid at WDW wouldn't have been disappointed? I ended up trusting my own judgement and found some items from the buffet that would suit him...and in the interim, the manager also brought over some plain cheesecake & chocolate mousse desserts. I learned my lesson not to check off the allergy field in the online ADR's anymore. To anyone with serious, life threatening allergies, I would definitely not recommend the dessert party, They honestly should say something right on the webpage that EVERYTHING on the buffet could be cross-contaminated. We generally don't eat at buffets, but I thought I had read on other threads here that the chefs walk around with you and tell you what to stay away from. This situation completely caught me off guard - that plate was not worth the cost of the buffet.

In hindsight, I kind of wish I had just asked for my money back and left after they told me about the special plate for nut allergies...but I didn't want to disappoint my kids. Like the PP, I would definitely not do this again.

A must do family here. I am waiting on booking our 5/6th. times enjoying the party.

I really think that many people can't get over the price and go in with expectations that could never be satisfied because of it. It is expensive when you think you are eating desserts. But you are paying for the location, the lack of waiting, and the ability to actually move around and not be crowded.

As for the desserts, I find it to be a huge assortment, and have read other reviews of families that have allergies and their plates were envied by others. Sorry to the poster who wasn't given the same treatment.

I guess if everyone loved just one restaurant or experience in Disney, it would be an all out war. My advice is if it looks good, try it. The worst thing that will happen is that you discover it is not for you and won't have to worry about it the next trip. That is how my family feels about Ohana, see everyone has different takes on Everything Disney.

No the party is not cancelled. It is under cover and you would enjoy your desserts minus the fireworks. But you would be dry!

Although this is a pretty good location for viewing, I'm not sure the overall experience is worth it. Wishes is up in the sky and you can see it from pretty much anywhere in the park (even this location is off to the side and not a front and center view at all).

I've heard a lot of tales of so-so desserts and fighting for a spot at the rail to see. Plus, if you are there early, you cannot really see much of the electrical light parade (A MUST DO).
I highly recommend taking the $25 per person and raiding the bakery and candy stores on mainstreet and getting a s[pt at the top of the train station or in the middle of the hub at the castle or anywhere else you'd like and enjoy a big bag of special treats that you picked.

If you are on the dining plan, also consider that you will have desserts included with every meal and most of your snack credits will go towards sweet items probably as well.

We did the Dessert party last year. It was OK. Desserts were good although not great. Alot of fruit and Chocolate chip cookies and "sundae type" desserts. The lemonade was awesome. You have a great view of Tinker Bell flying overhead as she lands on the top of the building the dessert party is Held in. Other than that the veiw was no better than any place else we had watched Wishes before. The major Plus for us was being able to sit down whilw waiting for the fireworks to begin. The buffet gave the kids a nice distraction while waiting and not having a huge crowd to deal with while watching was a plus also. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. The desserts were yummy...yes there were some I did not enjoy but everyone has different tastes. There were over at least 25 different items to pick from. My fav was the cheesecake!

We sat in the front row...a little tip. the tables for bigger parties are in the front row and some of the smaller tables are set back a bit. Either way everyone had a great view of the castle and the fireworks.

To me paying the $25 was well worth it. I didn't have to stop riding the rides an hour and a half before the fireworks to stake out a spot on mainstreet and fight the crowds and some of the rude people that push their way in front of you at the last minute.

What time do you arrive? If MSEP is first at 8 and Wishes is say at 9, do you watch MSEP and then try to get over to the Noodle Station in time? And do you leave as soon as Wishes is over?

I think it costs too much, as I am not a huge fan of sweet things and probably wouldn't eat enough. Not impressed by the fireworks either as I can see those from Main Street or even from the other side of the castle if I don't want to be in crowds.

Noodle Station is gone. The area is now called Tomorrowland Terrace Cafe.

In the case of the dessert party, from what I understand the desserts are not made at the same location where they are served. They are brought in from somewhere else. Therefore there is no one actually on site to prepare special dishes for those with allergies, and the actual persons who prepared the desserts are not available at the event. If the allergy-friendly dishes are not requested ahead of time, they won't know whether or not to bring any over to the dessert buffet location.

We love the Wishes Dessert Party!! No, the desserts aren't going to blow you away...but I love being able to sit and watch the fireworks!

we did it last year. We're glad we did it once, but we'll never do it again. We waited forever in a line to get in. They told us to be there at 8:45 (I think) for a 9pm seating. We didn't get let in until about 9:20. The drinks were warm and constantly ran out as did the ice, the desserts were half warm and mushy and nothing impressive. We went up to the rail and had the world's most obnoxious teenager next to us. His mother even told him he was being obnoxious and bothering people around him which just led him to be more obnoxious and annoying.

I'm glad we tried it once but considering we waited 40 minutes standing to be seated, I'd rather spend 40 minutes sitting somewhere drinking a cold drink and a snack I bought somewhere else.

To me the only positive was there was a bathroom close by and if you had to go, you could and get back to your spot.

Just like every other food option at WDW: 2 people, 3 opinions.

We went last June and had a very good experience. Despite the hot weather the drinks were icy cold, the desserts were plentiful, and the ability to sit down without being stepped on was greatly appreciated.

We were given misinformation about the timing when I made the ADRs by phone, but thanks to the DisBoard I knew it was wrong. Fireworks were at 10 pm & the CM on the phone told me my ADR was not until 9:20. I stopped and asked one of the CMs actually working there a few nights before our ADR. They told me to arrive about 10 minutes before 9. They checked us in and gave us a wristband. Right at 9 they opened and rapidly seated everyone who was already checked in; process took about 5 minutes because your name is already on a placard on your table.

I saw the CMs start to clear tables during the fireworks but I just turned back and told them to leave our stuff because we were still working on it. They were happy to do so and we stayed on for a good 10 minutes after the fireworks ended. The buffet was still available and it was heavenly to get another glass of iced tea and just sit there chatting until the human gridlock outside had cleared a bit.

Extra hint: schedule it for an EMH night. We did, and the resultant sugar high carried us through nearly to the 3 am park closing!

We've gone once and we are holding out hope for a release of dates in August. We want to go again this year. For us, its a special treat, we don't go every time we go to Disney. The last time we went was 2 years ago, then last year the girls did the BBB, so this year it will hopefully be the Dessert Party again.
