I was so excited to hear that the Wishes Dessert Party had been extended- we're going to Disney on Wednesday and had been sad to see that originally it wasn't going to be held while we were there. But now that I see that the new price is about $24 per person I'm wondering... is it really worth it? We are a group of 4 adults. $100 for dessert seems a little crazy buttttttt I'm still intrigued. Any thoughts? I'd love some help deciding (assuming I can even get reservations!) :confused3

Well the one review I read of it the persom was fumed because people were piling thier plates high with choc dipped strawberries and they ran out of alot of the most desired desserts by the time the person checked in for thier 9:00pm ADR. They did not restock the desserts from what I have read.
I also am contemplating this for my next trip and would love to know what others think. Worth the $$$$ :confused3

Yikes! Didn't see that review - Were people piling up their plates because desserts weren't being restocked? I guess it's a chicken and egg thing.

I was planning to book for myself and DF but figured that for $48, we could get a lot of treats at the bakery in France or the Boardwalk Bakery.

This is what I think. Of course its alot of money everything at Disney costs alot. But we in our eyes its something new and we have the extra money so why not just try it once.

For us it would be a big waste: As much as we love sweets I can't imagine eating more than 1 item so why bother. It just one of those personal preference things: now if it were an appetizer party that would be a whole different story:lmao:
I'm sure everything is yummy though! If you decide to go I hope you enjoy;)

I booked it, and there 4 of us paying the adult price but it just is something different and special to do while at WDW.
We will be on the dining plan so most of our meals are already paid for. The day of our party we will just eat counter service for dinner (meaning salads so that I can justify all the additional calories) and then enjoy the desserts and fireworks.

Most of the reviews I've read have been positive (on Allears the recent reviews are very good, with more mixed reviews from the first couple weeks it was offered), but I'm not sure yet whether I want to spend the money to check it out myself. I keep thinking it would be nice to have the less chaotic viewing area since we have a toddler, but on the other hand, it is pretty expensive with 4 adults and a child. If they extend it far enough to cover our dates, I'll give it some serious thought I'm sure.

I booked and later canceled when it was $17.99. I think the servers expect a tip which would add another 20%, ….I can’t see spending that much money on dessert. A cast member asked me if I knew what WDW stood for……It wasn’t Walt Disney World. It’s now “We Drain Wallets”.

Thinking of doing this when we are down for our One Year Anniversary. We have the Tables in Wonderland card. Do we get the discount for this?

As far as I know there are no discounts offered for this event. I booked it a few days ago for my hubby and me and I asked the CM if there were any discounts being offered and he said no.

As to the cost being worth it - that's a totally subjective question that no one else can answer for you. For us it's something new and unique that's being offered and we're excited to give it a try. A friend of mine from work attended one in July after I told her about it and she and her family really enjoyed it. For them, and I suspect for the hubby and me, it was something they did once and really liked but once was enough.

Thanks, I will probably book this also. Even without the discount it sounds like it should be alot of fun and there will be some yummy dessert. We have watched Wishes from this area before and even though the fireworks are off to the side, I think it will be really nice to have a private area. We had an IllumiNations Dessert Party for our wedding in Epcot so I think doing a Wishes Dessert Party for our anniversary will be perfect. We are also planning on doing a MNSSHP one night.

I was debating on it at 17.99. At 24.00 only if it was for a special ocassion.

I didn't know they had servers. Do they bring you your beverages? I guess I just assumed they only had people clearing dirty plates.

Just need to know so I can plan my tipping amount accordingly.

Thanks for all the great responses everyone! Still deciding what to do- it looks like a lot of fun but our reservations are all set (leaving this Wed) and we have a sit down dinner that night so I'm not sure that we'll be hungry enough to really enjoy it popcorn::

I'm still interested in hearing everyone's responses! It's funny because at $17.99 I wouldn't have given this as much thought, but $24 just seems like so much more (even though I know its only about $6!) I wonder why they put up the price so much- are they expanding the offerings or just deciding that they can charge more because it was such a hit? Curious to know

I wouldn't be surprised when they extend it again it goes to $27.99 or a lil more. It's selling out quickly, so they'll up it until it levels off IMO.

Years ago we did the dessert buffet at DL for their Fantasmic. Then it was well worth it as they don't have any room really for the crowds for Fantasmic.
For WDW I would not. I asked DH about it when it first came up and he did not care for the idea at all. So I can't speak from experience. I debated over $18 pp. $24 would definitely cross it off our list. However being locals, we look at things a lot different. If I were on vacation and this was a once a lifetime or year trip, that would be a different consideration.

I went to the dessert party on Aug 13th. Was it worth it? A very subjective question. I took 3 teenagers with me and it was a special treat for them. They each managed to eat enough to cover the 17.99 cost. (we all love desserts). The 2 boys must have tried everything on the table. They really enjoyed seeing the fireworks without having to camp out on Main Street for 2 hours before it started. They were very pleased with the whole set up, and that was enough for me. As for the OP asking about tipping, there was NO servers who helped us at all. Even the dirty plates were not picked up until after the fireworks were over. Would I do it again, probably not. I feel it was good to try, but not compelling enough to make me go back.

$24 PP for strawberries and ice cream or whatever...........:scared1:

Its one thing to pay that for a breakfast buffet but to pay top $$$ on cookies........:sad2:

:lmao:

That is the funniest thing I have read here on the DIS........... :rotfl:

We booked ours for Sept 5th.. I read alot of mixed reviews from when it started but then It seems the more recent reviews its gotten better... almost everyone said that things were restocked almost immediatly and they all had a view of the fireworks.

I guess it depends on the person. Me and my bf love desserts, and that combined with getting a less crowded viewing spot for the fireworks makes it worth the money for us. Also, my bf likes the idea of having a bit more space in which to set up his tripod :) I must admit we do tend to splash out on 'extras' during our vacations, though we don't spend much at all on days out etc the rest of the year so I guess it evens out ;)
