Does anyone know how the seating is determined for the Wishes Dessert Party? I've noticed on other threads that the reservation time is the same for all parties...so who gets the best table?

don't know the answer to that one...
we have had almost the exact same location both times we went (first time when it was a brand new event, and more recently this past august) about second row in off the railing, beneath the area where the food is served (were able to hand things down to those seated while walking above)... made our reservations in advance, but not the first day they were available... i'm thinking the seating might just be random, but i'm not sure...

Thanks for posting...we're excited. I've heard it's a great spot to see Tink flying overhead :goodvibes

Maybe someone else will chime in?

I've read people who (consistently) say that the seating is pre-assigned. I don't know how one would go about getting a better table, but a lot of people like the fact that pre-assigned seating takes the stress out of the experience since people aren't "fighting" for a good seat. We will be at one on December 18th! Fun stuff!

oh, it is definitely pre-assigned... just don't know the rhyme/reason for getting assigned the table you do...
with the dinner shows (like HDDR and SOA) it's based on category and then first reserved gets closer to the front... i have no clue if WDP works the same way... it would make sense, although we've always been close and i don't think i reserved that far in advance to be "first" kwim?

Someone on Passporter posted that she called the minute reservation times became available. She said they were seated front and center, on the railing. So I am thinking it must be in order that you call to reserve. :confused3

When I make reservations for restaurants and want a special area, I ask when I call, so I would call for the Dessert Party and request a specific spot. There is no guarantee ,of couse that you will get that spot, but I have been successful the majority of the times I ask. They state they always try to accomodate the guests with their requests. :cool1:

We have attended 2 Wishes Dessert Parties. Both times I called right away when booking was opened. Both times we had tables in the front. I don't think it matters much.

The confusing part for us was when to get in line before the party started. The first time we did not get there very early and we were near the back of the line. It seemed like a long time before it was our turn to get seated. I wish they started seating a little earlier. I like to be able to see the parade even though it is from a far. It still adds to the atmosphere. The second time we got in line earlier, so we were seated sooner. I enjoyed that more. Not that I like standing in lines. It was worth the wait and made my experience more enjoyable.

Thanks, everyone, for your input. It looks like the consensus is 'the sooner, the better'...both for making the reservation and arriving on the day of the event. If I remember correctly, I rather unintentionally called for our reservation on the day Disney started taking them...so I hope we'll get a good enough table to remain seated.

Have a magical day, everyone!pixiedust:

Last year we called as soon as we could make a reservation and we too had a table front row center :thumbsup2

We make reservations pretty early but not first thing, and we had great seats.

I made my reservations for Tuesday of Thanksgiving week this year at in September. We had seats front and center. It looked to me like the front was all 2-tops and the next "row" was 4-tops. Now...it could have been that I put down we were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday but none of the couples around us were wearing celebration buttons.

That's what happened to us. I called every morning for weeks to see if our date opened up. The first day it did I booked it and we had front row center, even sticking out closer to the rail then most tables because it was at a corner. hard to explain but it was primo table.

Where your table is really doesn't matter. Most people get up for the fireworks. If you're in the 2nd row of tables your view is probably obstructed by the overhang, and if you're in the front row of tables then you have to deal with the people standing in front of you. better to just eat and grab your spot on the rail.

It really doesn't matter were you are seated.Long before wishes starts people walk to the railing blocking every view from the tables. I advise parent with little children to go stand in front very early because standing behind the others guest will block there view.

It is random. Note that everyone does get up from there tables when the fireworks begin and go to the railing. So the table really want matter as much because you will need to get up from it when it is time to watch the fireworks.

Exactly. We had an awesome table with a superb view, but it didn't matter when all the people started walking up to the railing. I actually wish we didn't have that table because I think we were lulled into complacency and didn't realize what would happen until it was too late.

I really don't know. We booked the very day they opened up more dates and our table was in the "front row" of table up by the railing. Maybe just a cooincidence? Regardless, there's plenty of room to watch the fireworks from the table or the railing. I stood at the railing with two kids and DH sat at our table with the other kid. We al had a great view. The desserts were super yummy and I was so happy with the selection of drinks! Cold and hot. We didn't feel rushed. Took our sweet time and ate sweet treats to our hearts contents. It was a lot of fun!

That sounds spectacular...:cloud9:

I've got reservations, but how do I get my tickets?

Is it like Hoop De Do? Just get them at my resort?

i don't recall getting any actual tickets either time... they had our name on a list/clipboard like checking in for an ADR... we just went up, they gave us each a bracelet and we settled in and sugar-loaded... the kids (teens) got their bracelets, ran and used some space and buzz fastpasses and came back in time for the fireworks... it's very relaxed and quite delicious!
