I just read the update that the Wishes Dessert Party is increasing to 27.68 an adult, which includes taxes. "Gratuity is not required, but is optional".

I have gone to the Dessert Party in the past, and it was great, but I thought it was over priced then, and kind of dangerous to eat all that sugar, yet I have heard that they can set you up on request with a No Sugar or Low Sugar added plate just for you.

And I had no idea of even leaving a TIP on the table.
Since it is paid ahead of schedule, and you don't get a receipt at the Party, I never thought of even leaving a TIP. Did anyone else ever tip and how much?

But I am not sure I would want to go for 27.68 per adult, I think I would become a pig eating too much deserts to justify the price. Although I love the location.

I could get a Buffet and Dessert at the Crystal Palace and use my Table in Wonderland's Card and get close to the same price? I don't think there is a discount available for the Dessert Party? (annual pass, DVC, Tables in Wonderland).

Maybe I am being too cheap, it was a wonderful experience.
I am thinking at that price they should allow people to use their Table Service Credits on the Dining Plan, except I guess that would be a problem since it is a PREPAID event.

What are your thoughts?

If I posted this in the wrong place, sorry, I'm not sure if the Dessert Party is Dining or an Event ?

Thanks,

Phil

Those prices are not "new". I bought mine in July at the same cost. Not sure why DIS is posting as new prices.

I got some but it is to celebrate DHs b-day. I got the party on his b-day and he and the rest of the family love desserts. I wanted to have something really special we all can enjoy together. Plus, I hear that the location to view the fireworks is great.

I confirmed with my sister's friends who are CMs at Disney now. The location is great and the dessert are to die for. It's just another Disney magic. Might not be the right magic for everyone, food or price wise, but it is for us. We wouldn't spend money at V & A's but that's what's great about Disney, something for every person and taste. :)

We went last fall and absolutely loved it. Yes, you are right about consuming that much sugar, I had a sugar "hang-over" the next day - okay I did go hog wild eating all those desserts. Glad my kids weren't with me:rotfl2:! I think one of the best features of the party was the "premier" seats. I got to sit and watch the fireworks without having to panic to find a spot or worse get pushed out of the way. It was so relaxing at the end of the day to sit and watch that glorious Halloween Wishes production and that alone was priceless - truly amazing and one of the best fireworks displays I have seen from Disney. I guess I would be willing pay $$ to be treated like a VIP during this event and the dessert party in a way fits that description. If you look at the dessert buffet as more than a buffet, then it is worth the $$$.

Tipping discussion is limited to the tipping thread. You are welcome to reopen the topic of the price increase, but since the tip is such an intergal part of the original post this thread is being closed now.
