Wishes Dessert Party--Is it really worth it?

Pros: No worry about reserving a spot, ... no worry about kids on shoulders and people crowding in front.

Cons: ...you do have to stand at the rail if you want a front row view.
Aren't these statements diametrically opposed? :confused3

Tried it in November. Fireworks did not go off during party due to rain/lightning/storms. The desserts were plentiful, but NOTHING special ... and nothing very good. It goes without saying, but if we had seen Wishes, we would have likely had a far better opinion. I wouldn't do it again.

We did it on our last trip and really enjoyed it. That being said I don't think its worth double the price it was.

Even at the new price, it's booked solid the week we are going (late August). I guess Disney was right in doubling the price, from a business perspective

Thanks guys for your great opinions! I guess the things I'm considering that would make it "worth" is a combination of the price as far as the quality of the desserts, the view and the theming/atmosphere of the event. I'd pay $100/pp if I felt the event justified the price. I'm just wondering if at the end I'm going to walk out going "is that it?!?" Maybe I should just buy extra desserts at Be Our Guest dinner and hope I find a good standing place in the crowd.

The food is not where the value is. It's having a space to relax before the fireworks and then not having to stand in the crowds and how much that is worth to you.

I think it's the kind of thing that it's just best to pay the money and try not to think about it again and just enjoy the event. Like a lot of things at WDW :)

Good luck deciding!

It doesn't matter where you stand around the hub, someone can always crowd you or dad can put his little one on his shoulders right in front of you and then you have to listen to your son/daughter cry because they can't see the castle. Since I just attended the dessert party about 10 days ago, I found out that it was easy to just stand up 5 minutes before the projection show started, go to the rail and nobody could possible crowd in front of you since they would have to jump into the water to do it. Nobody pushed or even stood behind us.

It was a no stress way to view the show.

I've had good luck with everyone getting a great spot/view. I always put my daughter in front of me so we can both see but only take up one railing spot and many people do the same. Having smaller or short kids - this is a great perk because they are almost guaranteed an unblocked view. We always ended up behind a kid on the shoulders down in the main throngs, so the cost is worth it to me, even at the new price. However, if we were going to MK multiple days, I would consider getting the FP+ instead on one of the days. But I can't bring myself to it with one MK day with only 3 FP+ and already 5-6 rides I feel you need one for to avoid crazy lines. Also I think this will phase out as a must do as the kiddo gets older/taller and can hold her own on the ground.

I've found the desserts hit or miss, but there is always something really yummy. Don't eat a late dinner for sure! And I am looking forward to the cheeses later this month since it's a nice offset to all the sweet.

Pros: you did get to eat yourself sick on desserts. The view is good. Its not crowded. It's a civilized event vs the crowd in the Hub.

Cons: money. Not all the desserts will appeal to you. It's not a center view. You still will most likely need to stand. BUT, you'll only need to stand a couple minutes before the show starts.

I wouldn't pay for it again with my normal traveling companions. BUT, I'm glad I did it once, and if we ever took some older family members (70+) crowd, I might do it with them along because they don't tolerate long periods of standing still and shoulder to shoulder crowds.

I'm considering doing this, but the price is a little off putting. However wanting to do something new and different.
