Wishes Dessert Party Booking

We just got back from the desert party last night. Let me tell you...it was not worth it. We got a table way in the back. IF your kids arent between the ages of 2-6..you might as well forget a table near the front. Our reservation was for 8:05. They started giving wrist bands at 8. By the time we got to our table it was 8:25. There are 3 small buffett tables that has most of the same on each. They brought out 15 plates at a time and we spent a lot of time waiting for plates. They ran out of raspberry lemonade and never refilled..then they ran out of creamer and milk. After 15 minutes of complaining they finally refilled. So, our 1 hour desert party turned into about 15 minutes of actual desert party and spending time with family. Tinkerbell didnt come out so the whole "amazing view of tinkerbelle" was null. With out table we got no view of the fireworks so we were told that it was standing room only. Gee thanks..if I wanted to stand and view the fireworks I would have saved the $$ and stayed on main street! When we stood, the people in front complianed so we just went back to our seats in the back.

The deserts were so so. Great canolis...but other than that..not really good. Its a whole lot of creme' brulee type eggy stuff and the fancy looking deserts that all taste the same..like diferent colored whip creams with no flavor. They put pudding in a pastry shell and top it differently and call in desert. Not very good at all.

My advice..save your money!

So, are you saying that they only put families with small children up front? Is that something you were asked when you made your reservation, or are they assigning the tables when you get there?

I have been at the dessert party with no kids and had a table in the front, and I know others have had the same luck. I don't think you can conclude that only families with kids get front tables. :goodvibes

I am sorry you had such a bad night. I have been 5 times. I can totally verify that tables were based on when you made reservations and children of all ages were placed in many different places throughout the venue. We personally have been front row 3 times, and my kids are 16 and 19.

Yes, people do get up to watch the fireworks, so if your table is in the back, I guess you would need to stand also to get a great view.

I have never encountered 15 plates at a time. They have always been stocked and re-stocked as needed. Each table has always had the same items on them until the end of the evening when desserts were condensed and maybe one less table was used.

We have never encountered the tea running out, wow some evenings, I even wondered if anyone other than myself was even drinking the tea.

We have always lined up 15 - 20 minutes prior to the start time and wrist bands would start to distribute 10 minutes prior to the enter time. At enter time, they would walk you in and since tables are pre-assigned it always moved smoothly for us.

I have copied and pasted here from our first time, and the desserts have pretty much been the same with variations depending on the season:

The desserts:

Mango Shooters: Very good, tart, and have a "consistancy" to them. I am sure they are a hit or miss with people.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries: Excellent!! The berries were perfect, not mushy or overripe and the chocolate was very good, definetely not Hershey's.
Tiramasu: Very rich and wonderful. DS started a new love affair with this dessert!
Tarts: Different fillings like lime, custard, and chocolate. All very good. The fruit was excellent, except the crust was not "homemade". It was more of a mass produced bottom and it was very evident. Still very good though.
Fresh Fruit: very good, fresh, and cold for the first half of the evening.
Truffles: very good, but rich, one at a time... one at a time!
Creme Brulee: I was so excited to try this. I have never had it and it was on a lot of the menus throughout Disney. It was so wonderful and I found a new "favorite" for desserts. I still dream about them. I have even googled restaurants in our area looking for them.... Yes it was that good!
Peanut Butter dessert: Also very good and rich....
Cookies and Brownies: Oh my, I am editing this in, I can't believe I forgot them! Soft wonderful large cookies and brownies sent from the Heavens, thick and chewy. So delicous. We wanted to put them down, stop going for more, but they called our name..

By any chance did they still have the make your own sundae bar still running.

Once again, I am sorry your evening went so poorly. I would send off an email to Disney if I were you. Just to let them know. They can't fix something if they don't know about it.

Lastly, Tinkerbelle only flies on nights that is safe for her. It's definitely a chance you take when you book. Disney can't control the weather, and I can sympathize with you though as we have had nights without Tink also.:hug:

I really hope the rest of your trip was wonderful though.

So, are you saying that they only put families with small children up front? Is that something you were asked when you made your reservation, or are they assigning the tables when you get there?

Tables are assigned based on when reservations were made and availability of table size at the time of booking.

CHILDREN ARE NOT BOOKED EXCLUSIVELY IN THE FRONT ROW, but trust me their little legs do book up to the wall in excitement when the fireworks start...

And to be totally honest so do MINE!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

How far out can you start booking this?

There is no rhyme or reason to when Disney opens the dates for this event. As of right now, they are booking until the end of November. It is a daily wait to see when and IF December will be opened. I was a very popular December date so I check at least 4 times per day.

Hi
My DH and myself had a table in the very front row, and we didn't have any children with us. I guess I was one of the first people to book. I loved the desserts. The chocolate covered strawberries were delicious and so were a lot of the other desserts. They never ran out of anything. There were plenty of plates and Tinkerbell flew over our heads. I liked it so much that I made reservations for Nov. 17 as a surprise for my future daughter-in-law. I booked on Sept 6th, so I'll see if it's true that the sooner you book, the closer your table is to the front.
