We have gone twice. The first time we went was right when it first began, and it was a little cheaper. I can tell you that my husband is....ahem....a little tight with money, so he wasn't thrilled about how much it cost. However, afterwards, he said it was great and he'd do it again. I don't really think it's the food itself that makes it a good 'value.' It's more the fact that you have a nice comfortable place to sit and enjoy Wishes. For us, being very tall, being in the crowds during Wishes is a nightmare. We are constantly being ridiculed because people can't see over us. It's so crowded, and we go in the summer, so you're normally smashed up against all these sweaty, stinky people. It's just not pleasant. Having a nice open space, delicious desserts, and no one yelling at you for being tall is priceless. The BEST value for our money was when we went on July 3 in 2009. The MK was INSANE :scared1: and we got to just sit and have a relaxing, lovely time :goodvibes

I feel for you...I am the opposite lol I am short. I can't imagine why people would be disresepctful to you..it's not like you have a choice, right! What I always so is show up early to everything. This way I can be towards the front and can see...if I show up later I have no one to blame, but myself!
I am wondering though, do they still seat you? I read someplace that there is no seating during wishes only seating while have dessert in the hour prior. I read that you have to stand at the railing? Is this true? I would be doing this party more as a place to sit and relax and not be cramped with everyone else, than for the dessert aspect as I am not a sweet eater really LOL :rotfl:

We always go early and get a spot for Wishes too, and then people come in at the last minute and get mad because they can't see over us. They pull the kid card too. One man literally yelled at my husband (who is 6'6") that he was taking away the man's daughter's magical experience and he should be ashamed of himself. Yikes! :scared1:

As for the DP, there are tables throughout the pavilion. You are welcome to stay at your table during Wishes, but you are not permitted to pull tables or chairs up to the railing. If you have a table near the front, you can see just fine from your table. If you have one in the back, you'll need to go stand at the railing because the roof overhead will block most of your view. They do still serve desserts and drinks all throughout Wishes, and even for a little while afterward. If you're really not a sweet eater, I don't know if it would be a good value. The space and comfort is a great part of the value, but I think there are probably other decent locations where you could get that for free :thumbsup2

I feel bad for the kid that had to witness their father being a idiot :sad2: He should be ashamed of himself!

Thank you for your opinion. I booked it and will think about it in the meantime and decide. It would be a pretty expensive viewing location, seat or not if I am not really going to partake in the sweets. I see the picture a few pages up and it does look yummy though. Is that pretty much what they offer or are there other desserts? Is there anything healthy lol like veggies? :rotfl: What types of beverages do they have?

Thanks again! :goodvibes

They do offer a few items that aren't as sweet like fruit tarts and (if I remember correctly) sliced fruit. The last time we were there they offered coffee, water, and lemonade. It was almost 3 years ago, though, so maybe someone who's gone more recently can share if that's changed. Our issue was that the cups were REALLY small, so you had to keep going back for another drink (especially in July!) I wanted to dump the whole water container over my head :rotfl:

Earlier this week I was reading a thread on the DVC boards asking whether this event is worth it. As I was posting to it, I thought. "I wonder if there is still availability for our trip in June". Yesterday, DW scored 8 spots for FRIDAY June 8!!:yay:

Good luck to everyone waiting!!:thumbsup2

i just booked my family for June 8th as well! :cool1:

this is my first wish party and i cant wait! they gave us a time for 9:20, but i've heard different things -- are we supposed to go earlier?

thanks!

Here's a picture from when we went in 2009 :thumbsup2

we're going to do it for our first time in august because we're not doing any table service meals on this trip (too short a trip, too over fed, kids don't care about character meals etc) so I thought it would be a good time and something special. Also my pre-teen son gets horribly stressed and overheated in the crowds at night and wishes becomes an exercise in torture for us every time. Yet it's my young adult child's favorite thing so it's one of those times where not everyone can win. So since the pre-teen has a love affair with all things desert (as does the other) and since he'd have a SEAT I figured it would be a good compromise. He can sit at his seat and not watch, and not move during the whole thing if he wants, put his head down, whatever. As long as he's not crowded he'll be fine. THEn the other can watch her wishes and be all happy-pants.

Yeah! I just booked my party for June 10th, I've been waiting for the last month or so for June to open up. Looking forward to viewing Wishes without the crowds and enjoying wonderful desserts. :cool1:

I just wanted to add a note to my picture above (first post on this page) and see if anyone could answer a question. If you look at the bottom plate there is a chocolate dessert to the right of the pineapple. You can tell it's falling apart. This is because it was July, and it was SO hot that when you grabbed things with the tongs they just completely crumbled and fell all over the place. I remember feeling so bad because desserts kept falling out of the tongs because they were getting melty. Has anyone been more recently than 2009, and can you confirm whether or not they've put a cooling system near the food?
Thanks!! :thumbsup2

When we attended last summer, one of the beverage choices was milk. The beverage station has an ice dispenser, and the milk IS kept cold. Cookies and fresh fruit are part of the spread, along with donut holes, creme brulee, chocolate mousse, tartlets, and other fancies. The desserts are bite sized, and its all you can eat/drink.

One of the perks to this seating area is that TinkerBell flies DIRECTLY overhead, which is kinda cool, IMHO. Not being a sardine on mainstreet makes it VERY worthwhile to us, and if I had a young child, having the luxury of being able to give them some freedom to move while they waited for the fireworks to start would be worthwhile to me, also. Its also a good time to color/draw pix and do some quieter things, (the DP starts an hour before the fireworks) so bring those items along...kids seemed to appreciate the decompression time last year!!

One of the drawbacks is that people do move up to the railing during the fireworks, so its one of those "When in Rome moments", because even if you have a front row table, your sight line may get blocked. That being said, every time we have been, people were pretty considerate about letting little ones up front, but there are always those who think that their money buys more than someone else's, so plan accordingly.

Last year, they had a PhotoPass station set up so that you would have the castle behind you if you had your photo taken.

This is the 4th time we will do the DP, so its certainly been a good thing for us!!

Thank you for the feedback! Its nice to hear that even with people standing its not a mess. I'm starting to get excited!!:cutie:

Does the online system appear to be down for anyone else?

It says it's loading but then nothing happens. Not needing to book but just wanted to check dates :-/

I am sooo late but keep checking to see if maybe a cancellation happens for May 8, 2012. One of the people I talked to @ wdw said they only have to give a 24 hour notice to cancel so it may be a long shot at last min. I will keep trying!!

I'm a little confused. :confused3

1. How do I find out how much the dessert party costs? On the website it says $15.00 - $36.99. Do I know when I book or do I have to wait until that night?

2. If everyone has a pre-assigned seat, why would people be crowded at the railing? Can't everyone see from their seats??

Please help. Thanks!

Can anyone answer if the system is loading anything? I can put in any date and time and it says it's loading but then does nothing :(
