Wishes Dessert Party ADR Watch Thread December 1-29 2012 Now Open!

I asked about MVMCP last year and was told I couldnt do the dessert party so I would suspect not but it may be worth asking to make sure

Does anyone know if they offer the party on MVMCP????

The dessert party we attended in December fell on a MVMCP night.

Also, im sure it has already been mentioned, but the party has changed slightly. There is more seating and less dessert's. There is the same amount of variety, just a few less stations setup to accommodate for more seating. Still a great party, not a big change in my opinion.

Well...today is my 180 day mark and it's frustrating that I could make all my dining reservations except the dessert party!! I booked all our TS meals assuming the party will be available and we can get a table on the date we want but who knows!! We learned our lesson last year and are not planning to have a TS dinner the night of the dessert party (can you say STUFFED??) but may have to re-work things if we can't get the dessert party. The CM I asked said the ressies aren't even open for May yet so I'm guessing I have about 4 months to wait before September opens up. :-(

So, I have been calling every day since March 1st, trying to get a reservation for the last 2 weeks in May.

This morning, I called first thing and the CM I was speaking to told me that the Dessert Party would NOT be opening up for May due to the renovations. She said the last one was for February. When she said this, I told her that I knew that wasn't true as I had heard of people who had reservations in April. She said she didn't know anything about that, but knew there would be nothing opening up in May.

I then asked why it was still on the website. She said they were working on getting the event taken off the website but had to leave it on for a while because people had existing reservations.

I said good bye and hung up..........and called back right away to speak to someone else.

The second CM I spoke to checked out my dates and told me that it wasn't opened up yet. I then said that I had been reading around the 'net and read where it may not be opening for May due to the renovations happening at the MK. She told me that she had absolutely NOT heard anything about this. She even said that she reviewed all the alerts when she came in this morning and there was nothing there about the Dessert Party.

So, I don't know what is happening. May was supposed to open up in March and here it is, the 6th and nothing is open. Based on these 2 conversations we have a 50/50 chance that it will NOT open after April.

I suggest that every time you call to ask for your booking, ask if it is going to open after April. It makes sense to stop it after April as May is a lower crowd time and Spring Break and Easter Break are all over.

I just called and spoke with "Debbie". She told me May was not open yet, which I knew already. I asked her when she thought it might open up and she said that they don't have that information. She added that "since it is a special event, it is evaluated every few months to determine whether or not they are going to continue it." She went on to say that she doesn't know whether or not they have decided to extend it past April at this time. She encouraged me to "keep checking with us", but had no further information.

I REALLY REALLY hope they determine it is going to continue!!! I have never been to this and was hoping to surprise my mother and son with it. I don't know if it helps (but it can't hurt) that all us May DISers keep calling, but I would think they would realize that there is a demand for this and maybe open it up? Just a thought. We could innundate them!!! We could DEMAND our chocolate!!!

I spoke with a very sweet and helpful cast member yesterday morning that told me there would be a May dessert party and that it just hadn't opened up yet. She thought it may would open at the 30 day mark instead of the 60. Maybe she didn't know what she was talking about, but she did seem hopeful for one.

I wouldn't be too worried about it getting canceled. It's a popular event, from what I can tell, and Disney is getting people to pay a premium for it. If people weren't paying, they wouldn't do it. Plus, from what I've read, they've added more seats to it to accommodate more paying customers. I think that's a good indicator of it's success. Just my opinion.

Give them time, Disney moves at their own pace. Keep the faith, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they open up May...and then June (which is when I'm hoping to get in on the action).

I'm going in with the attitude that if they have it when we go and I can get in, then great. If not, we'll still be there for Wishes, and still have a great time.

Well, reservations for 1/2 of Oct., Nov., Dec., Feb., Mar., and Apr. were released on a Tuesday, so maybe......?? I think I also read (maybe on this thread) that they don't necessarily release first thing, but later in the day.

I will be checking often. Here's hoping we all get night we want!

Hopefully it will be soon for May. I just can't take the waiting anymore!

I'd never heard of this dessert party before I started planning this trip and, as I am taking my 70 year old mother with us and it's her first trip to WDW, I thought this would be the icing on the cake.....pardon the pun.


Now the first lady I spoke to this morning told me it was cancelled due to the renovations that were going on......is the new area near the Tomorrowland Terrace? I'm not familiar with where the new section is going in relation to what is there now.

No - the area is near the Fantasyland renovations which is not to say there aren't renovations going on where it is anyway. I would really like to book this as a surprise for DS's 17th b-day.

People freaking out because May dates aren't opened yet should go back and look at the first post again. Reservation releases are erratic. January wasn't available till November 29 for goodness sake! That's 32 days out!

Just be patient. There's really no reason to fear the worst this early in the month.

I have been waiting for May, but the one thing we need to take into consideration is that Spring Breaks start this week. Disney's first priority is to make sure these peak times are satisfactory so I think releasing May dates have become a non-priority at least for the time being and as long as there is at least 30 days we should be fine. But do continue check daily if not hourly. I promise if I am the first to book May I will let you all know first.

I just booked May online, too!

We've done 9pm before (and again this trip), and never had an issue -- and seats were assigned anyway. Is that still how they're doing things?

I think that 9 is the earliest time since Wishes starts at 10. I just booked for May for our party of 3. I had issues with getting it to show me availability, though. Put in 3 for 9pm and got nothing. Came back here to see your dates and was puzzled since ours is May 4. Went back and tried for 2 people at 9 and got availability, but needed 3. Tried 3 people and 8 and suddenly it came up for 3 people at 9 on the dot. Whatever. I got my ADR!

I just booked May too! The only time available for a party of 5 was 9:00 for me. I wonder if that is the only time they released? Surely they didn't sell out that quickly. I checked at 1:00 today and the reservation window was not open then.
