wishes dessert party --2 questions

I just booked a ressie for the TTWDP on March 9th.

The CM on the phone gave me a time of 7:20 p.m. Is that our arrival time, or do we need to show up 30 minutes prior? (I asked the CM and she said that is the arrival time, but everything I have read here has indicated that we ought to arrive 30 minutes early.)

Secondly, is it a flat rate for adults AND children? I had thought (maybe assumed) that kids would pay a different price. The CM seemed unsure, but then came back to me with just 1 price. Just thought I would double-check with the always-knowledgeable and helpful DISsers.

TIA

Without doing research, i know that is slightly cheaper for children than adults when doing the dessert party. We do not have kids, but i know i have read that it is not just a 'flat rate'. We did the dessert party 2 weeks ago while at WDW, and our ressie time was 7:10 (with wishes at 8), but i asked a CM that was setting up for the party, what time to come back to check in, and she said come back around 6:50ish, and they would begin to check people in. We arrived back at that time (to an already long line of people), and they had begun checking people in. Just keep in mind, it doesn't matter where you are in line, because it is pre-assigned tables for your party.
Have a great time!

thank you! So, that leaves one question answered. Now to find out for sure about the pricing.
I know the CM charged me the same price for all 5 of us (2 adults, 3 kids). If I was charged the wrong prices, what is my recourse? And, how do I find out for certain what the kids should have been charged?

Always arrive early.

Somewhere between 10-30 minutes early.

Robo.... do you happen to know the answer to my pricing question?? I am constantly amazed at your Disney IQ:worship:

Thanks for the kind words.

There is/has been one price for guests 10 years and older ($24.99-up to $35.99,)
and another lower price for guests 3-9 years old ($12.99-and higher.)

The latest info I could find for a (non-holiday season)
10 years & Up: $23.99
3-9 years: $12.99

The price is always subject to change, of course.
They could decide to eliminate the price difference, too,
but I doubt that they would.

EDIT: The official NAME of this event is "Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party."
("Wishes" is not a part of the name.)

Thanks. I posted it in my OP as TTDP... I named the thread "Wishes Dessert party" b/c that what most people on here seem to call it, lol. I am usually big on details, but "Wishes" was shorter for a title, and I wanted to use the more common vernacular. :)

I wasn't posting that as anything about your post.

(Heck, I always call it the "Wishes Dessert Party," myself.)

But, I wanted to point out that DISNEY calls the event something very specific,
so if anyone wants to make a reservation or look it up on the Disney site, they will be helped if they know the "official" name.

What does the TT in TTWDP stand for?

Tables are assigned ahead of time and the food is replenished as it empties, so I see no reason to arrive early. If you get there early, you can stand in line...I don't know why you'd want to do that, but you can if you want.

The view is good. The food...is not. Not really. Not IMO, anyway.

Children are slightly less expensive.

Are reservations a must for this? Going next week and I probably couldn't decide until the day of, lol.

Tables are assigned ahead of time

1- and the food is replenished as it empties, so

2- I see no reason to arrive early.

1- Some of it is, some is not.

2- There are some who are told to arrive at 7:20PM for a Wishes show at 8PM.
The CM on the phone gave me a time of 7:20 p.m.
I'd not want to arrive that late when most others were there up to a half-hour earlier.

Some years ago before this became a venue of itself, DH & I tried to watch Wishes from there and we were very disappointed. They can be viewed so much better from Main Street Area (yes, I know it's very crowded) as you are in the center and can see the high ones and side ones better.

We did this in August last year, and the people that got there late were left with whatever was left which was a decent selection but nothing like what it is at the beginning. They never replenished anything when we were there, which may not be the case on all season's but was that night. I loved the food, and correct the view is better from main street but if you do 2 days in MK I would recommend doing 1 on main street and 1 in ttdp, and get there early.

the people that got there late were left with whatever was left, get there early.
sound advice.......we attended the last two years and late arrivals were upset......actually they have other problems too. line jumpers, they go under the chain that is up about halfway up where you line up, and people who arent supposed to be there coming in unseen and sitting at tables while people are at the buffet, they catch them and toss them.

Reservations are needed for this. When we did the Dessert Party in November, we were seated near the entrance and I lost track of the number of people who tried, unsuccessfully, to get in.:flower3:

No, no, no. The CMs and the online system insist on handing out staggered ADR times to the Dessert Party like it was a regular restaurant. IT IS NOT.

No matter what time your ADR says, there is only 1 Dessert Party per night and it starts for all attendees 1 hour before Wishes. You should plan to arrive about 15 minutes before that. Wishes is at 8? Party opens at 7 so get there about 6:45. Check in at the podium and get your wristbands. Everyone who has been checked in will be seated at 7. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 7:20 START TIME. If you show up then you will have missed 1/3 of the time (and the goodies) you paid so much for.

We have been several times and love this event, so I really hate to see people either show up an hour too early or half an hour too late. I don't know why Disney can't fix this one quirk in their system. They manage to give the same ADR time to everybody at HDDR or the Luau; the Dessert Party should be handled exactly the same.
