I've been talking with my mom about starting to save money for my wedding recently. Not engaged yet, but know I want a Disney Wedding when it's time (which won't be until after May 2008). So we figured out max number of guests and I jumped onto the Wishbook to get a ballpark figure of what to expect with that number. I know it's a long way off and prices will change but I noticed one huge thing. When I tried adding in the Magic Kingdom photo package, it says the price is per guest, and adding it to the "My Wishes" section adds up the package for each guest. Is this something new they're doing? Or is the Wishbook having issues? Because it does the same thing for the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Resort, Black & White, AND Honeymoon packages...

Hi there....really the prices will be completely different and totally higher by the time 2008 comes by.
After pricing out my Custom Wedding and figuring the worst case scenario....I was way off.
Whatever estimate a Disney Wedding Coordinator tells you add $4,000 on top of that.
I wanted a simple custom wedding. Just a DJ, simple flowers, basic items, etc.....my estimate was still over $4,000 more than I expected.
So there is really no point in trying to price out a custom wedding now. I was told there will be a ton of changes to Disney Weddings in the coming years due to the fact that they have a whole new guy running things now.
Just trying to prepare you. Intimate was definitely a better choice for me.
We were willing to spend the $18,000 for 25 people for the custom wedding. Just didn't seem worth it. We paid $7,500 for an intimate wedding that had everything extra we could have possibly wanted. Extra floral, characters, specialty car, etc.
Hope that helps.

That's scary - what caused it to be so much more than your estimate?

Please remember, most people go into their planning session and build the "perfect" wedding with all the extras youcould imagine. When you get you're BEO (Banquet Event Order) and estimated budget, most people are sticker shocked. We weren't becuase we knew we had added in every little extra and gimmick we could have possibly wanted.

At this time, the MK photo shoot is $800.00. Disney rates increase at the resort hotels between 5%-10% a year. If you were to take whatever ball park you have now, and factor in the increase at around 7% for each year you wait, you would *probably* be at least ball park (+/- $5000 I would say).

You have to remember that there are so many other aspects of a wedding to consider that are not included in the Wishbook. From things at Disney to things not at Disney. You will have your hotel stay, dress, accessories, transportation to and from Disney, any expenses you are covering for your bridal party, food expenditures while there, hair and make-up, costs of purchasing clothing for any events surrounding the wedding (rehearsal, etc), nail appointments, teeth whitening, massages, dress steaming, park tickets, costs of any DIY details for the wedding, floral preseration, cost of changing you name on you SS card and licenses, etc. As you see, the list just builds. Do not overextend yourself on the Disney budget alone, becuase things just keep adding up!

Be totally honest with you EM as to your budget and what your willing to spend. They can and will give you your dream wedding on your budget if it is realistic estimate and you have realistic expectations. One of the other options, and I have heard nothign but rave reviews on this board, is a Swan/Dolphin wedding. JustMarry.com seems to be the planner of choice. I have noticed how much less expensive they are. Another budget-conscious thing to look into is using vendors outside of Disney to get what you need and what- florists, photography, videography, etc.

I know that prices are gonna go up and it's still a long way away. I just don't get why the Wishbook is saying the Photo packages are being priced per person. I had 50 guests down and when I put in for the Magic Kingdom photo shoot, it added $800 on for all 50 guests.

Gabrielle-

OMG! What time did you get married on the 16th? Bob and I may have seen you pull away from the WP! We were walking up to it around 3ish and we saw a couple pull away in one of the vintage cars! We waved and shouted our congratulations but I had to admit to Bob (who thinks every Disney bride knows each other from all my computer posting) that I wasn't sure who it was - maybe it was you!

It's a small world after all....

remember that you need to add tax and tip on things...That is totally going to increase things. I can vouch for the sticker shock. We planned on x amount of people, and cut alot before going into the planning session and talking. Just remember you need to prioritize what is important to you and what you can give up.

It sounds like the wishbook is having issues. It seems to have a lot of kinks ever since it came out.
