Wish Trippers...Unite!! Volume One

Hi Wendy! :)

You don't know me, but we are leaving on our 3 yo dauther's Wish Trip in 2 weeks (   ). She was born with CHD and had her open-heart surgery in 07. We are SOOO excited to go see Mickey Mouse and experience Disney, especially all the Christmas stuff! :santa: We have been very blessed by the Disboutiquers with the Big Give too! :yay: :yay: Yesterday we got this amazing Christmas outfit for Lydia that we just plain fell in love with! :cloud9:

That is so exciting that you guys get to go back! I've read your TR (like most people on here, I think!) and it gave so much info and was so touching. :sad1: :goodvibes

I'm back!! I have attempted to update the first page. Please pm me with any corrections. I will never go without internet again! Ugh! What a pain in the pattootie!! I am so happy to be back and cannot wait to "meet" everyone.

Update on us. We are going to Disney in under a month!! The January trip was just not going to work for us as it would have been a $1000 more then then in December. We have free dining and we are so excited!! We will be celebrating Danae's fifth birthday. Michael can't wait to ride the roller coasters because he's finally 44 inches (with shoes on)! He is doing well. He currently sees four therapists a week, physical therapy twice a week, occupational therapy twice a week and speech therapy twice a week (two of his therapists co-treat). He's making some huge strides. We will be adding a vision therapist next year. Now we go into the winter season and cross our fingers that we don't catch any respiratory stuff. I am not in any mood to travel with oxygen on our trip!

Now my biggest worries are figuring out health insurance for next year and what are we going to wear to Disney and where are we going to eat there?! LOL

I missed you guys terribly and can't wait to see what everyone is up to so all you lurkers, all you post wish trippers, update me!!
Hi Wendy! You dont' know me either but welcome back!! :) My DD5 is getting a MAW Disney Cruise Jan 18-22, 2009 and we can't wait!! Her PTR is at the botom of my siggie. This thread has been wonderful! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the welcomes. I am still on only very little. If one person could get all the new PTRs together with the usernames, dates, location staying, organization and link to the PTR, and PM me the info, I'll post them. I am in the middle of trying to pick an insurance company for next year and it ain't pretty.I'm on very little. I would really appreciate it.

Misty, we have got to meet! We are going to be there the 14th through the 24th. We are hitting Epcot on the 15th, MVMCP on the 16th, MK on the 17, and I believe AK on the 18th. We're stayin at POP Century. Do any of your plans meet up with ours?

:
We are flying SW also and have a similar problem- we will be flying through lunch. Lunchables are exactly what I was thinking about bringing and then we can buy drinks once we are through security.

Like they said before, you will be fine since you have a small child. I think you have to have a child under 5 ( or maybe it is 6, I can't remember) to get the early boarding. I'm going to mention it is a wish trip ( and have him wear his shirt) and maybe they will let us board early.
Good ideas :) Thank You
We have our dates for Becca's Wish Trip.
We will be staying at GKTW and our dates are January 21st through 27th:woohoo:
Mandy
WoooHOOOOO the time will go so fast
I'm pretty sure 24 hrs before you leave I would try to do it exactly southwest airlies offers early checkin online. Southwest breaks seating up into a, b and c. If you get a on your boarding pass you will be the first group to board.
ns pre trip report
Thank you Joe! That's good to know. I'm glad you got your seats changed
Jason is online schooling
he does everything online at home he has a teacher and online classes
it is the best move I have ever done for him we are all so much happier
plus he can do it at his doctor appointments so he doesn't get behind
We did online school for my oldest for her last 1 1/2 of school. Best thing we ever could have done for her. We're having teacher issues with one of Zander's core teachers (if you can call her that) and I'm seriously thinking of switching him over to Internet
Make sure to tell southwest attendant at the boarding gate that you are on a wish trip and they will give you a blue pass that is for preboarding with the handicap section. They didnt question us at all about his disability and we didnt have a wheel chair. Also, we had a long flight from California. We landed around 9pm and it was hard. We were able to get something to eat when we took the 2nd flight. Give kids the world also had sandwiches, and drinks and milk all ready for us when we arrived for a late night dinner. I thought the kids were going to take it hard because of their routine but you will be surprised on how easy things go.
THANK YOU! I knew you all would ease my worries
I forgot to show off a little. Victor is on our chapters make a wish page.
What a cutie
Lydia got sick with a stomach bug last night... Ugh!! That was not fun! Luckily she stopped throwing up after only 4 or 5 times and fell asleep at around 1:30 or 2:00. Now I'm just worried that the rest of us get it.
(((Lydia))) Hope she's feeling better now
It brightened our whole day!
it brought the magic right into our living room!
Isn't that the best feeling ever!! I totally agree. Hope you're feeling better too
I've been a mad woman working on getting everything done before the big trip. Yesterday I ordered my Christmas cards since those need to go out before we leave too. Here is a sneak peek just for you, my DIS friends
Absolutely ADORABLE!!!
Hello! We just got back from Mark's Wish Trip last night - it was amazing...and I want to go straight back!
As some of you know, we also moved house while we were away (living elsewhere during renovations to make our hosue accessible for Mark). I've been unpacking suitcases, doing laundry, fending off contractors needing decisions and so on.
For those of you planning - and with somewhat older children, and perhaps especially boys (sorry to sterotype)...Oklahomamomof4boys are you listening???...when you visit Epcot, be sure to fit in visits to the Wish Lounges; there are 3 and we did 2. Alison
WELCOME Home Alison & boys! I can't wait to hear about all your adventures. Good luck with the house and such. Tell those contractors to behave......you have a trip report to write :)

Thanks for the info on the Lounges
We only seen two when we went. The epcot lounge needs a passcode that you will get at orientation and the kids loved putting in the code and going into the "secret room".
The epcot lounge had coffee and soda which was great! Also a interactive game for the kids or adults(dh played there too..lol) and a special entrance to the spaceship earth ride which was a total vip experience for us and my kids loved seeing the pictures at the end of the ride and the video(try not to pass on the ride)
Ohhhhh...."secret room"?? What kid wouldn't love that :)
I am so excited, we finally have a date to meet my dd's wish granters and start the process. We will be meeting with them on Monday night.
YAY!!!
We got our flight info!! We leave from another city at just after 5am! Wow.. that is super early but I am so okay with that since we will be getting Orlando by noon!

Bummer is that we leave orlando at noon tho heading home :(
5 am is early, but so worth it to land early (IMO) I hear ya about coming home. Our flight leaves at 11:10am.

Also, my dh and I are going to be volunteers for make a wish and looking forward to it! Had to spread our good news!!
How COOL!!
I am the mom to two great kids. My youngest, Sami, has Rett Syndrome and we just got our dates today for our wishtrip to Disney. We are flying out on March 27. It seems a long way away, but I know it will most likely go very quickly. Tammy
Welcome Tammy. Your trip will be here before you know it. You'll find great advice here in this special corner of the DIS
Her older sister loves Sami with all of her heart, but its been hard on her in ways a lot of teens (and adults) will never understand. I'm very excited and grateful that both of my girls are getting this amazing opportunity. Okay, I've babbled enough.
I'm happy for you all too. It's an amazing journey you've been on. Your girls are going to have so much fun :)
I am SOOO excited! Did you guys know that Hank should be at the shuttle launch today. And it actually went off!!

I am so excited for them! I hope they got there! I hope they had a blast!
I hope so too. I can't wait to hear/see all about it
My daughter has been selected to go on her wish trip in April. I'm new to this and am trying to find the places my friend and fellow wishtrippers, Sebastian, with his family (Amber) is telling me about. AM I THERE? Help ! THANKS.
Welcome!! This is the place :)
Jump right in and tell us all about you and your family :)

We are very nosy on here
Whoops, did I say nosy??
I meant we are happy to answer any questions you may have :):rotfl2: Mandy
:rotfl2:
Nemo information:

The Seas pavillion in EPCOT not only has a 'finding nemo' ride, there is also Turtle talk with Crush which is wonderful,
Ohhhh.... Thank you so much. I have got to make sure we make it to Turtle Talk. It was new on our last trip to Disneyland and Ryan was just heartbroken that Crush didn't talk to him. It was packed!! I still wonder how he could miss the 2 1/2 yr old in the Crush shirt yelling "CRUSH, o-ber here. Hi Crush":rotfl:
Amber-I love the shirts, I tried to do a few matching shirts when we went to WDW in the spring. DH wasn't thrilled but I got us all incredibles shirts and he was willing to wear that, otherwise it was just the kids that matched.
How cute are those!!
Those are AWESOME!!!!!
Brian, knew when he married me how ridiculous I am for this matchy stuff. Here is a picture of us at our wedding recption. We actaully got married in Rome but had a Luau when we got back.
Very cute Amber. You guys do look really young. Not that you look old now.
We met with our wish granters on Monday night and my dd told them she wanted a Disney Cruise. They said those are really hard to get, they will look into it but dd said she wanted a caribbean cruise regardless so most likely we will be going on royal caribbean. Even though it is not a Disney wish I thought I would let you know what I found out. I was wondering, after you first met with the wish granters, how long before you heard back with the dates and details?
I hope they grant her the Disney Cruise. If not, you're right - the info here is amazing.

After we met with our Grantors it wasn't long at all before we found out. I want to say a week, maybe two
question?
we are still waiting for the doctor to sign the papers he signed the first set he should sign the trip ones right:confused3
the wish granter only come if they are sure he will get a wish (the kids would be so upset if they can't go now)
The second set it only a statement that your child is well enough to travel.
We are doing the limo thing...:cool1:

We have had our flight itinerary for about a month now but we got our full packet with every bit of info. I'm so psyched. Our friends arrive from Florida tommorow and Sebastian's send-off party is Saturday  Now I'm just trying to get everything in order like the budget :)
Very cool about the limo. I still don't know how we're getting there
I can't wait to hear about your weekend. I know it's going to be SO amazing.
We are still waiting and met with our wish granters a little over a month ago with no word from them.
I hope you hear from them soon. A month is a long time :sad2:
I'm back!!
Welcome Home WendyGrace!! You were missed. That's a lot of therapy. I'm so glad Michael is making strides :yay: Good luck with the insurance :scared1:

We got a package today from the BIG GIVE

Lots of pics on our report. Link below

Welcome back, Wendy Grace! I can't WAIT to read your next trip report. My fingers are crossed for you finding good health insurance at a price you can afford!

I know how excited you must feel because we are in exactly the same position, I also know the trepidation you feel not being in control and having to trust others with all of the planning :) :):rolleyes1

thanks he said he would sign so I don't think it will be a problem I just can't figure out why he has not done it after a month
I called today to see if he got the papers and the lady that took my call said she would get on him today to make sure he got it signed popcorn::
I'm a worry wart sorry

I am not sure if this has been already answered and taken care of...

but I work in a doctor's office and forms can get lost fairly easily...get put in the wrong box, etc...

I would call MAW and see if they mind sending another set? Or maybe you can call the dr office? not sure if you calling the dr would upset MAW?

but I could see how it could get misplaced...

I do think they will sign it!! :)

Hey DeAnna, I'd love to meet up with you. We'll be visiting GKTW on the 22nd all day. We are so excited!

Linda, have a great trip! So sad we'll miss you though!

Thanks for all the welcomes! I so missed you guys!

I'm a big believer that prayers have helped us over the past year so here I am asking for them again...this time for Savannah.

I don't have the time to go into every detail but I'll do my best to give a general run-down.

You may have been following along with the various symptoms that baby Savannah has had going on since September including the fussiness, projectile vomiting, two ear infections, fevers, diaper rash, coughing fits and scariest to me the wheezing and rattling in her chest.

We started Savannah on Omnicef and Albuterol on Monday after taking her into the doctor because she was getting progressively worse. Today (Friday), I took her back in for another follow-up.

I brought my friend Ashley with me. She and her husband Rey and their three kids arrived Thursday to stay with us with us. Ashley brought her baby girl with and I also brought Sebastian so that our Pediatrician could take a look at his ears and save me another $25.00 co-pay.

Despite the Omnicef and Albuterol Savannah has really has still not improved much. Her chest continues to rattle and she is still coughing and spitting up like crazy.

Doctor checked Savannah's ear and said that it was not improving as much as she would like to see for five days of antibiotics. She also checked Sebastian's ear and it is not completely back to normal but is MUCH better!

Doctor also weighed Savannah again today. On Monday she was down to 10 lbs. 4 ounces and today she weighed in even less at 9 lbs. 11 ounces. Her weight today was back to what she weighed at her two month well visit nearly two months ago.

Normally really upbeat, I could tell that our Pediatrician was worried. After putting her on that scale all three of us women started to tear up.

Doctor asked me what my results were from Savannah's Cystic Fibrosis test from when I was pregnant. With everything that was going on at that time I honestly could not remember if I even had this test. So I got my cell phone out and dialed Rankin Women's Center and Doctor got on the phone and requested that my records be faxed over...specifically the CF test. She said she needed them today and that it could not wait until Monday.

Doctor let me know that depending on what she found out about my CF test we might have to take Savannah to Carolina's Medical Center to get a Cystic Fibrosis sweat test for her. She took down my cell phone number and said she would call when she got some information.

In the meantime she told me to continue the Omnicef and to give Savannah the Prevacid instead of the Axid for the reflux and to try and get her to gain some weight back.

She told me she wasn't going to tell me not to worry because that is what she told me with the lump on the back of Sebastian's head that it wasn't cancer and she felt really bad about how that turned out.

We met Brian and Rey and the rest of the kids at the Mall and had lunch. Then we took the Lightrail train Uptown and went to Imaginon. On the train trip back the doctor called.

She said that the good news was that I had indeed had the Cystic Fibrosis screening and that it showed a 97% probability that Savannah would not have Cystic Fibrosis.

But, Doctor said she was worried and very concerned about the continued weight loss combined with the other symptoms that just don't seem to be going away.

She said it's time to be aggressive. Doctor wants us to be prepared to hospitalize Savannah on Monday if she doesn't gain weight over the weekend.

Savannah's main Doctor doesn't work again until Wednesday but she gave Savannah's chart to another Doctor in the practice and is having me bring her in on Monday morning to get her weighed again.

This is a big stress right now as we have Sebastian's send-off party tomorrow morning and Savannah's Baptism on Sunday so please pray for our little peanut that she will gain some weight this weekend and we can figure out what is going on with her and get her healthy!

Much Love, Amber

Oh Amber! I am so sorry you guys have to go through this!! I'm definitely praying for Savannah and all of you!!! Please keep us updated as you are able!! Lots of     to all of you!!!!
