I think the experience of being there will be enough for him. He said he will take some pictures with the characters just to appease me for photo ops but these boys are really getting too cool for characters. Here is a question for the folks in the know...I spoke to a lady at WDW today about extra magic hours and she said Jared could not have them while we are staying in the condo. She also made a big fuss that we were not staying at GKTW because it has way more Teen appropriate stuff and he would have gotten a VIP pass. What is the difference between a vip pass and a GAC? I would think as soon as the Cm's see my kid in his MAW shirt and button they would try to help as much as possible with lines and such. I hope I did not make a big mistake not staying at GKTW but my wish granter also thought it would be too young for the boys. Oh Well....

GKTW will still give you the same stuff as if you were staying on site They say so on their website.

The character interaction is fun and he may like it more than he thinks! A lot of GKTW families have talked about those EMH hours....I don't think any one of us ever did them. If you really wanted to see about being there you could probably talk to guest services, but "officially" you do not get to be there during EMH hours since you are not staying on disney property....wouldn't matter if you are staying at GKTW either. What VIP pass is she talking about??????? Between the button, MAW shirt and GAC I think you will be fine. Do you have to go to GKTW for orientation? I know some families have to go there to get the tickets even though they are not staying there. It will all work out and your family will have a great time...don't worry about it!

Here are some rough drafts of what we're doing for him. His speech therapist used board maker (i think) but we are changing the clip art. We are going to cut and laminate them.

Those are great. I think they will work very well.

I have seen that clipart site before and it is good.
Mary Poppins may be hard to find - all I could see were pictures of Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins.

I guess I just let her freak me out a bit. I'm sure my son will be treated wonderfully at WDW no matter where we are staying. They are not sending us to GKTW to pick up our tickets. We just go the guest relations window at any of the parks and they will have our tickets there waiting for us. Then we will go get our GAC and we will be off!! I can't believe we leave in 6 days. YAY!!! I am getting a bit excited.

I love reading about everybody's trip to WDW-especially all the extra magic! I also love seeing the pictures! Now I'm kind of wishing that WDW had been his first choice instead of his second ( after a cruise). We still don't know for sure what he will get, but they didn't think a cruise would be a problem. Maybe a cruise will be better, because he really isn't into the characters.

Anyway, a while back someone had posted that they would PM you some of the special things on a cruise for MAW kids. At the time, I thought I would rather make it a surprise. But now Nathan is reading about some of the "extras" at WDW and he really wants to know some of the things that might happen on the cruise. I have warned him that just because they happened for some wish kids, doesn't mean it happens for ALL MAW cruise kids. Anyway, now I can't find the post from whoever it was who went on the cruise!

So, if you went on a MAW cruise, could you PM me some of the extra magic things you experienced?

Yes, he can sit fully supported, but has just started trying to support himself. He he is very delayed from his arrest. He does therapy 4 times a week. He can control his muscles (to a point) just not all at the same time

Karen, he is happy 99% of the time. his trip is taking shape, we're just waiting to hear back from MAW about the flight down and if we're getting to stay at GKTW. I figure if i haven't heard anything by mid-july i'll give them call again. We do have our adr set and our tickets for mvmcp already. We are just waiting for it to get here

Misty, I am excited to hear about your Chuck E Cheese party dates. Ours was VERY manic, YIKES! She was much more hyper than on the trip itself.

It was great to have other family members, who could not go on the trip, share that part of the adventure with Lysi.

For Teen boys and characters, they will love the Jack Sparrow greet near Alladin in MK. Spiderman is very cool. I think they will really like the Donkey greet in Universal as well as it is hilarious. Would they like Sponge Bob? He is there as well. You had better stay away from Barney. Most males would enjoy meeting Jasmine.....

Okla Mom, I hope you get your answers on Disney Wish Trip Cruises. Have you checked on the cruise threads?

We saw Mary Poppins at Disney Hollywood Studios.

By the way, I am back from teaching at the camp for abused and neglected kids in foster care. What awesome kids they are. There are some definite similarities between these kids and Wish Trip Kids as far as surviving trauma and pulling hard at your heart strings. I was blessed to be there.
