Wish Trip question-confused

The 18th-24th

1) I will be serving dinner on Wednesday the 20th.
2) If you come by 6:00pm-9:00pm, look for me on the Right buffet line (Boston Market food). *
3) You can usually find me at the chicken/meatloaf/soup station.
4) If you are there at that date/time, please make sure you pass by and say HOWDY.

* If it is a slow night, I might "bale" and run over to the Ice Cream Parlor about 9:00pm.

I have an update for all those that responded. I am so embarrassed and feel like an ungrateful spoiled bratty parent. I thought I would just send an email to the national office contact email on there website asking if all Chapters provide some type of spending money for wish trips. Turns out the email went to the CEO and my email has my first name in it. He was able to find out who I was and what Chapter and first thing this morning I got a call from the president of our local chapter. She said spending money is provided. Our Dream Manager was waiting till the last minute to surprise us. She was so nice and felt bad that I had been worrying so much about it. I have a new volunteer and she didn't realize how worried I was when I thought we weren't receiving it.

So glad the plans are working out for you! I'm sure the volunteer was well-intentioned with her "surprise" but hadn't thought through how it could impact your planning. So happy for you!

Yes she was. She is very sweet. She said after she had a relative pass away from Leukemia she wanted to start volunteering and this is her second wish trip!! These volunteers and all the people that do so much to provide all these families and kids these wishes have such big hearts.

make sure with everything you plan that you allow time to enjoy all there is to do at GKTW. also plan on an extra suitcase for everything new you will have to bring home and I do not mean what you buy at the parks. have a great trip

Thank You. We are really excited. Last night we sat down and made a rough itinerary of what we would like to fit in and do each day. The kids are starting to realize it's almost time.
This last month and a half has been really busy with both my daughter and myself seeing each one of our specialist to make sure we are good to go and what extra meds maybe needed, etc.. We are really looking forward to this amazing experience and the break away before we get back and have to deal with even more surgeries. I'm having surgery two weeks after we get back. We are not sure when hers will be. We know from her tests and exams she will have to have it in the next six months but the longer we hold off the less chance there will have to be a second follow up surgery. After the complications from her last two surgeries she is more worried about it than she has been in the past. She is older and understands more now to ( she will turn 7 on our trip).

Sounds like this trip is needed by both of you to take your mind off things. Enjoy yourselves. You both deserve it. It is my happy place. I try very very hard to leave my worries (and grumpies) behind when there.

We are on our final night of my daughter's Dream Factory trip. While our Dream Manager has been very sweet, I had to ask about funds for expenses.
I don't think that all volunteers realize how stressful it can be to worry if there will be enough available for eating in the parks. When you have a kid with crazy high medical expenses, there's not a lot of extra to scrape up spending money.

Enjoy your trip! We've been amazed and feel spoiled. I don't want to go home tomorrow.

I can't believe they wanted the spending money to be a surprise. That seems irresponsible and, clearly, stress inducing.

I did find it slightly strange when you said that car hire and spending was said to be included,but when you met your wish manager she said it wasn't,
As much as I'm sure they would love to surprise you, by telling you that it's not included, induces worry.
I hope that they learn from this, there are many surprises at gktw and spending money doesn't really need to be one of them as it's a necessity, needed to know about for situations like this.

I also want to reassure you that you did not sound bratty or ungrateful! You sounded like a concerned parent not wanting to struggle and borrow money for a wish trip.
Just like moat people wouldn't get in debt for a holiday.
