Wish sold out - alternative plans

I was hoping to get a 4 night cruise in Sep but it's sold out. My first DCL cruise was supposed to be Nov2020 but since that got cancelled, I am the general public lol so not much left for me to choose from. My wonderful TA did book me a 3 night instead, and to be honest I hadn't even considered a 3 night until now. I felt 3 nights would be too short especially since we've never been on a Disney cruise before, but it's better than 0 nights ..plus I'll get to spend my birthday on the Wish!

Original plan was to fly down to FL just for the 4-night cruise and maybe a day at WDW because we were planning a separate longer trip to WDW for the 50th either Spring2022 or Dec2022 anyway. But now since we're looking at a 3 night cruise instead, I'm thinking about adding the 50th anniversary WDW trip to the end of our cruise so we won't be as sad leaving the boat so soon. One concern I have with this is rain during the WDW portion as I don't seem to have much luck with the weather whenever I travel! Another plan would be to not do the 3 night in Sep and try to book a 4-night later when the Oct-Dec2022 dates are released. I would love to hear other people's experiences with the 3-night cruise vs 4-night and adding a WDW trip after the cruise!

We did a 3 night in Feb 2020 then went to WDW directly after. It was great Of coarse I wished it was longer but it gave me a taste of all the things we can do on a cruise. Now we are scheduled for a 4 night this feb and I'm hoping to book a 7 night soon after.

Everyone is different. We've done several 4 night cruises with WDW trips prior to the cruise. We love that!
We did one 3 night with WDW post cruise. Three night cruise goes by CRAZY fast. We didn't care for the combo of the 3 nt. cruise with WDW after it. The cruise is grand and it was a little bit of a letdown to do WDW post cruise.
Is it an option to do WDW first and then the cruise combo? Fun in WDW with the anticipation of the cruise finale? For a first cruise/birthday experience, I think that would be perfect!

We've done WDW before and after a cruise. We prefer the cruise after WDW because the parks are a completely different experience than the cruise. We felt the parks were a go, go, go and the cruise was super relaxing. We went home after the cruise relaxed, not exhausted as we do after WDW. We've also done both 3 and 4 night cruises and have enjoyed both. Sure, we like the extra sea day, but it's not a deal breaker. Plus, it just gives you an excuse to book a 4 day.

Also, keep checking the 4 day in September. You'll see it pop up occasionally when 3-day holds expire.

My thought would be getting a longer cruise on Fantasy or Dream whichever is running 5-7 days cruises.

Maybe I am missing something but most people are excited about the Wish because its new not because its really "better" or groundbreaking. As an example is your group adults only? If so you might actually want to be on the Fantasy as opposed to Wish.

We also did a 3 night in Feb 2020, but followed it with Kennedy Space Center, 3 days at Universal, 1 day at Hollywood Studios, and 1 Disney Springs day. It was awesome! We actually enjoyed doing parks after the cruise, it was nice to get off the ship and not go straight to the airport. We were so happy that our vacation was continuing.

The 3 night did go by quickly, but we still got a great introduction to Disney cruising. I'd rather do a 3 night than no cruise! In fact, we booked another 3 night Halloween cruise for October this year (which is up in the air whether that will happen or not). We have a 4 night booked on the Wish, but I did debate doing the 3 night instead and I would have if only that was available. However, definitely keep an eye out for hold releases and cancellations, things seem to keep popping on and off the website and you may be able to snag a 4 night.

We did a 4 night on the Magic a 6 years back. Our previous have been an 11 night on the Magic, so it was quite different. BUT, it was great being back, and it will just make you want to book another when you can. Scheduling and finances made the 3 night Wish our best option next year, so we took it. I am sure the 3 night will feel like a blink of an eye, but, it is all new and wonderful and better than nothing. Happy Birthday!

Have your TA keep checking--I think they're opening dates in real time. I can book 4 night Sept online right now. I am also a TA, and have been on hold since 9 AM lol.

Definitely sounds like you should go for a Land & Sea. You can book a shuttle to/from WDW hotels to PC.

We have done this, it was super easy to organize and it was great!

Although I may recommend doing WDW first, this way you come back from your vacation more relaxed!

We snagged a 4 night cruise on the Wish this morning for next July. While I've cruised before, this will be my first on DCL and even the 4 day seems so short! We've also added on a 4 day stay at WDW prior to our cruise to make up for the shorter itinerary. I'm really looking forward to it!

Thanks for the tips. Guess it makes more sense to do WDW then the cruise so we can relax after being exhausted from the parks Either way I'm so excited to finally do a Disney cruise

We booked the Fantasy for Fall 2022. It's a new ship and a new itinerary for us. We're excited and are in no rush to try the Wish (we'll get on her one day)

+1 for WDW then Cruise.... as stated it's nice to end your vacation on more restful and relaxed note.

Also I'd just keep checking back, especially once the booking for later cruises opens up sometime in the next couple of months. Some may opt to change their dates from September to one of the newer dates in Oct, Nov or beyond.
