Hi ladies,

I have secured a discount for team WISH with SkirtSports.com.

Use discount code WISH when you are checking out to receive 15% off your orders. The discount code is valid effective today through to the end of December. They just came out with some updated skirt styles and colours for the spring. For those of you that live in cooler climes I have been told that they will be expanding their line up in the fall to include a running tight/skirt combo, long sleeved tops and running beanies.

For those of you who are curious as to what they look like in action, here my friend Tanya and I are sporting our skirts on the 10K Run for Canada this past July in Vancouver, BC.

For those of you wondering why there are so few people on the course...we were the only ones walking the 10K and so yeah....we came in last! Oh, and I'm the one in the hat!

If you have any questions about sizing or fit, or marathon girl vs. gym girl, let me know!

Thanks for working to get this. I'm going to have to wait another 2 weeks. I can't do it until I've done at least 20 miles/week for 4 weeks. I'm just starting my 3rd week. This is a great motivation!

I have 2 of their skirts, they are really cute. I am a larger gal and they fit fine. My DD has one as well. Thanks for getting us the discount! I just may have to get another one...but I think I need to get up to the 20 miles a week also, good incentive!
Oh yes, they have a little pocket on the leg for an Ipod and a hole in the side seam area so that you can thread your Ipod cord through it.
Nice people at that company as well.

I do have a question...Do you like the marathongirl or gym girl better. I think I would like the built in panties better than the shorts, but just not sure. I have to admit I am a little scared about running in a skirt. Just never even thought about the whole thing. :confused3
Have you tried the transition skirt? Or the bike skirt?
That looked like a beautiful race you woged. Thanks for setting this up.

Christa - I have one marathon girl, all the rest of mine are gym girls. I have to admit I prefer the gym girl a bit more because it is a bit longer than the marathon girl. I also like the shorts underneath from a chaffing point of view, but really it is a matter of personal taste. Word of warning on the marathon girl - if you feel like you may be bending over quite a bit...ahem...watch out.

I have to say I was really unsure about the whole running in a skirt thing initially so I bought one just to try it out. Now I rarely run in shorts (current lack of warm weather not withstanding). I tend to have a lot of ride up with shorts, the skirt cures that problem.

Haven't tried the transition girl or the bike girl, but I think the bike girl looks really neat. My friend bought the cap sleeve bike jersey though and it looks really cute on her.

Do the shorts built into the skirt ride up or is it just that the skirt hides the ride up? At least when I'm digging the shorts wedgie out people can see what I'm doing. I'd hate to be reaching under a skirt and digging!:scared1:

The shorts may ride up a bit initially, but once I start sweating the sorts stay in place. A bit of body glide also helps to keep them locked down!

I have a running skirt from Skirtsports and I LOVE:love: it. I have a gym girl for the reasons described above.

I'm sitting here feeling like I have mumps. Unless I feel better tonight and can run it is going to be hard to meet 20 miles. I may 'allow' myself to get a skirt if I do as many miles as I can this week and then do my 20 next week. I don't want to start fresh w/ my 4 20 mile week goal before I get a skirt. I can't help it that I'm sick, right?

My sister just ordered one! She is excited! We are basicly twins (except that I am 4 years older). We are built and look very much alike, so I will let her test it out....not sure which one she ordered though....
I may break down and get the bike one b/c I need some new bike wear...
THANKS!

I thought I'd give the roller girl a try, so I'll let you guys know what I think about that one when it arrives!

I was just looking at the Lands End sport skorts and saw this thread. I was wondering if it would be hard to run in these...

I may have to order one of these instead and try it out.

I saw those but the info wasn't clear about the type of covering underneath. Please post your results if you get one. The cost was better but I want a short under the skirt and not panties.

I love them and won't run in shorts again. I find them a lot more comfy.

I'm assuming there are shorts underneath cause that is what a skort is??? You're right, though - the pic is vague. Sears carries Lands End now so maybe I'll go up to the mall and check them out. I was surprised when I went to Sears last - they had a huge Lands End store inside and it reminded me of J. Crew. I absolutely love Lands End bathing suits... A woman working there told me if they don't have what you want in the store they'll mail it to your house no charge.

OK, went to Sears today. They had most of the Lands End activewear stuff there, except none of their shorts :confused3

I tried on the skirt ($30). It did have shorts underneath. The fabric felt really nice! Oddly though, the small was a tad too big and I wear a 6. They didn't have the XS in the store, only by catalog. I find it hard to believe I would need an XS, especially since I have a remnant mommy pouch. :scared:

It had two pockets and although the catalog says it will hold a MP3, it looked rather small for my nano. The pockets were also in a weird spot - almost on my hips.

I then went over to Dick's and tried on the Nike running skirt ($60). OMG! :scared1: It looked terrible! I guess I could say it would be a good motivator to run more. :lmao:

Sooo, the Lands End running skirt is OK, but I think I'll hold out until I hit a goal and order one of these skirts instead. :thumbsup2

FYI - I got my roller girl skirt in the mail. It is pretty cute! It flares out more than the gym girl, but it is a bit shorter. Also, the girl shorties underneath are basically like boy shorts. More coverage than the spankies in the marathon girl, but less coverage than the shorts under the gym girl. Having pockets on the girl shorties is a bit weird - they land right on your hiney - not sure I want to be reaching up there in public to grab my ID or a credit card!!!

I'm so glad I just found this thread! I'm going to purchase the gymgirl as a reward for reaching my April exercise and weight loss goal!

Thanks for getting us the discount :thumbsup2
