As you know I've not been on the boards much lately, I've had a new job since October and that's been taking all my time AND energy. My boss is very demanding and wants everything done her way, and she expects you to be assertive and say stuff upfront if you don't agree. Personally I find this very difficult if someone is that demanding.

I've finally admitted to myself that that's not working for me, and I don't see me being happy in this job in the future so I've decided to quit. I'm going to tell my boss today... so wish me luck.

And then I'm finally going to take a couple of months off, live off my savings and find out what I REALLY want.

Well I said it... and it's always the same isn't it. You say goodbye and then you think, well maybe it could work because all the pressure has lifted.

And I got a compliment that my boss would miss me because I was really good at my work... if only she had said that earlier (and more often!)

Good luck - I'm sure something will turn up.

I left my first job after 5 years because I HATED it and my friends and family thought I was mad. It was a really hard decision but I'm so glad i did. That was 15 years ago (omg!) I'm not saying I have a fantastic job now but I like it and the work conditions are great - but once you leave the security of a job - you have the confidence to just keep trying things and looking for something that you enjoy.
