Wish me luck - job interview tomorrow!!! Just got back - Updated

Wow Nancy -- how encouraging is that! I hope you hear from them bright and early monday morning. :goodvibes

Great job! And I love your pixie dust sentence! Hope you get it!

Whoever said cover letters aren't read these days was dead wrong. One of the things the director said stood out was the following sentence off my cover letter:

"On top of everything I have to offer, I also come with the addition of a little “Pixie Dust”. My 3.5 years of experience of working with The Disney Stores influenced me greatly in the areas of Guest Services training, Integrity, and Synergy – lessons that stayed with me throughout the breadth of my career."

Nancy, nice use of your Disney experience on your cover letter/resume. I was with the Disney Store for ~2 years and only remember "if you go off-stage come back with product, remember to work in figure 8's, & it's your turn to re-build plush mountain" (just kidding of course, somewhat).

BTW - I'm now updating my coverletter :woohoo:

Here's sending you additional pixie dust. pixiedust: It's going to be a looong week and weekend, isn't it? :cheer2: :cheer2:

I get a call today from the hiring manager of a hospital that I applied for a per diem position with. Turns out they made the per diem into a full time one with benefits!!!! And .... they asked me if I could come tomorrow morning to interview!

I'm trying not to be too excited:banana:  , but I've been out of work with no success for over 11 months now. We really need this to come along and to work out. I feel like I've been given another chance out of the blue - like maybe this was supposed to happen.

Please keep me in your thoughts. You guys have been so great to me this year and it has meant the world to me. I just had to share. Thanks for the pixie dust in advance!!!!!

Good Luck to you. :thumbsup2

Let us know how it turns out.

:rotfl2: I, too, was a plush mountain architect!!!! Remember how cool it was when you got shown how to do it the first time? Not everyone in the store was allowed to touch the mountain - you had to earn the right to do it and do a quality job at it, too!

We all sat traditions in the old days and I remember a lot of it, too. Taught me good lessons about how corporations really work.

Best of Luck! Sounds like it would be a great fit!

They no longer have a plush mountain at our Disney Store, I miss it, it was a huge draw for me as a small child.

Good luck! It sounds like they liked you. I hope you get the call early in the morning on Monday.:thumbsup2

So glad that things look good for you! I know how tough things are in healthcare , we just had a bunch of layoffs at the hospital where I work. Love how you fit disney in, customer service ( patient satisfaction) is huge where I am too and I think that will give you and edge!!

yeah, that does sound promising. Keep us updated!!!! Good Luck.

Not til Monday. I'm writing my thank you notes now. I want them to get in the early mail today, so they get to their desks before they interview the final candidates. Didn't have enough time to get them done for yesterday's final mail pick-up.

Then, today I got two exicting calls - one that someone (who saw me at my first craft show last week) wants to come by and purchase some soap and bath gift sets and two, that someone wants to have me come to their office for a gift boutique next week to sell my soaps. I do make really cool handmade (from scratch) soaps. Here are some of my soap photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/28132447@N00/sets/72157607866812254/

This has definitely been a week that is looking up!!!!!

Your soaps, look and sound amazing. I wish my screen were scratch & sniff. If I weren't about a hair's breadth away from losing my job, I'd place an order!

ps... I have my fingers crossed for you that you get this job. :pixiedust:

I hope you don't get laid off! This is so horrible what's happening to everyone! As someone who's been there for almost a year now, it's so sad!

OMG - someone sent me an email today with a huge list of national store chains that are closing - I never realized that some of those were even close to that issue. Ann Taylors, Lane Bryants, GAPs, KB Toys, Zales, Foot Lockers, and even more.

I figure I have my soap hobby for the rest of my life to fall back on. When the economy gets better, I'll still be making them. Who knows what cool new ideas I'll have at that point! I'll have also learned a few lessons about running my own business by then, too!

Wow Nancy, sounds like a great interview- I really hope you get it!!! :goodvibes

the cover letter touch was nice. I actually keep the College Program on my resume for that reason alone, it is something different that catches the eye, even though it was over 12 years ago and I have much more work experience that I can't even include on my resume at 2 pages. It never fails that folks ask about it, of course I put a nice 'spin' on how I list it on my resume so it doesn't sound like i spent a semester serving food cafeteria lady style and bussing tables. :rotfl:

good luck- please keep us posted!!!!!:woohoo: :cheer2:
