Wish I would have taken more time to plan!

:worried:I am going to DL 9/9 through 9/12. This was a last minute add-on to a Labor Day weekend trip to Vegas.

I have been to WDW many, MANY, times but this will be my first trip to DL!:cool1:

Evidently, two of the rides I had my heart set on will be closed during this time. Haunted Mansion and Storybook Land.:sad2:

I've also read that the D23 Expo is during this time and it looks like the parks close rather early on Wednesday and Thursday.

Please tell me the parks won't be that crowded while I am there, and that I'm really going to enjoy DL.:worried:

You will love DLR.

HM being down for a few weeks in September and January is very predictable because of the holiday overlay installation and removal. It has happened every year for the last 6-10 years (can't remember exactly when it started).

Unfortunately (for you) this year will be the first year of the Space Mtn holiday overlay and it too will be down for your trip.

Crowds should be reasonable and you will have a great time. :)

thanks Hydroguy. I did see that Haunted Mansion will be open when we get there on Wednesday. Maybe I can get on it then.

Sept 9 is 09-09-09 and the 40th anniversary of HM's opening. HM may be unusually crowded that day. I have not been paying much attention but there are some special celebrations planned I believe.

HG, will the HM have FPs available during the holiday season?

Last year when i visited in October, the afternoon stand by lines were over an hour, but we obtained FPs in the morning & were able to ride (using our FPs) in the late afternoon with a less than 10 min. wait. fwiw.

HMH has always had FP machines up and going. So I would assume it would again this year. :)

Yes, standard procedure for DL is to have FP available for HMH, but only during the holiday, not during the rest of the year.

Does anyone know the kinds of activities happening for the HM celebration?
