1) You can always order as much as you want off the menu and mix and match different things. You can even order just the meat portions of dishes for the table to try. They will do whatever you like within reason.
No doubt 1923 is the strongest of the 3 restaurants, but all 3 restaurants were solid in there own right. 1923 is the most straight forward menu. They are trying to do some different things in the other two to match the theming of the restaurants, so some things hit and some things miss of course. Everyone's pallet is different, so there is no one size fits all here.
Of the 3, most people find the Marvel menu the weakest of the bunch. At Arendelle, we had the scallops, the ham tart, the Troll salad and the charcuterie board, all of those were good to very good. The scallops being the tables favorite, although a puff pastry seems an odd choice with scallops, it works just fine. For the entree's we had the Rib Eye (prime rib) which was solid as prime ribs go. The sea bass, which was excellent (I'm not typically a fish person. It's not a large portion so order 2 portions of the fish maybe.) and we had the meatballs brought out for the table which were not bad. The butter cake was the star of the desserts and although I'm not crazy about apple desserts usually, the apple cake was good as well.
Just a little FYI, in case people don't look at the entire menu or just don't think about it. Most people get the Filet at 1923 and we noticed they had a lobster salad on the "Lighter Notes" portion of the menu, so we asked the waiter if we could have the lobster tail with our Filet with a little drawn butter. A little surf and turf if you will and that's what our entire table ended up ordering. He also brought out a bunch of lamb chops for the table as well.
At Marvel the chicken schnitzel was good, but we assumed it would needed a little sauce. So we ask for a side of sauce that comes on the mystic pasta. We are from the south, so we like our chicken fried chicken with some gravy. Haha The Mystic pasta with scallops was light and not overwhelming, but a good dish. (Scallops were cooked perfectly.) The beef tenderloin was solid as all the beef dishes aboard were and prepared to temperature requested. Although the Pork chop tasted great the closer you got to the middle the more dry it became. Our waiter let us know before ordering that would likely be the case, so we just had him bring out one for the table and we all nibbled off the more fatty moist portion of the chop. We also had him bring out the lamb shawarma salad that was on the "lighter note menu" for the table which was a pleasant surprise. We had all 4 of the main desserts, the sticky Date Pudding, was a bit too sweet for anyone's liking at our table. The key lime, cheesecake and chocolate dessert were all good. The waiter even brought out a plate of little donuts that are on the ice cream sunday as I had asked about them. Haha
Just my two cents, but I'd just say, don't knock it before you try it.
