My DS15 just had his out last week. He got his braces off in August. We removed his as their wasn't room for them to come in properly.
Our oral surgeon said this was a great age for his to come out as his roots had not fully developed on his wisdom teeth making the procedure easier. After the roots develop, they can be wrapped around a nerve. I think there were several other complications involving the roots after they develop.
All 4 had to be cut out as they were not in yet.
Anyway, hope this helps to give you more information.
