Wisdom teeth?

I had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted last Thursday. Its been over a week and im still in horrific pain. Is this normal? This is my fifth mouth surgery and by far the worst one. I also had my lower gum cut which is called your frenulum and that hurts too. I get these shooting pains up to my ears and jaw on top and bottom.

How long did your healing last?

My mom had hers taken out, she said it lasted about 2 weeks.

OMG I must have gotten off super easy.
I didn't even take the Vicodin I was prescribed, I actually had no pain at all. Just swelling, which was embarassing since my mom pointed it out every time I walked by her.

I would go back to the surgeon or a dentist and have it checked out, since it might be infected or the blood clot may have been dislodged (look up dry socket) which might be what's causing the pain up towards your ear. I don't think it's supposed to cause pain that long after the surgery, but I could be wrong.
They'll pack it with some stuff that makes it feel better and tell you what to do to treat it, if it's infected.

Yeah i have taken all the pain pills and i havent slept all week. I have gone back to the doctor twice and they said its normal to still have pain. I never had swelling at all.....and the pain didnt start till a few days after. Awfully weird.... I also have an extremely high tolerance for pain so when this hurts this bad....it seriously hurts. Lol

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that.
Mouth pain is the worst.

I have braces and I just started wearing bands and omg I'm going nuts. They rub against my lips making them raw and there isn't anything I can do. DX
Anyway I've had 8 teeth pulled so far not including my wisdom teeth and yeah it hurts for a while afterwards.

I am 54. the reason I am responding is to let you know your pain is NOT in vain!

I never had my wisdom teeth removed. didn't think they would be a problem. many years later they moed in on the other teeth, crowding them caused gum disease, on now a toothe on the bottom is very loose. would have been ok, had a had those pesky wisdom teeth removed!!! (when I had dental insurance!)
I now have had 3 of the 4 removed, but too late for the crowding on the bottom.
you ar wise to have done what your dentist recommended.
and, as a teen, I know you think your teeth will be there forever, and it's a pain (pun intended) to go to the dentist, but DO IT!!! you will be happy 20, 3 years from now!!

OMG I just got mine out on Tuesday and I HATE THIS.

Ive had like 3 tubs of ice cream and i feel like the stitches are falling out. Im still in pain, but Im able to sleep. I think you still having pain is weird. I still look like a chipmunk tho.

When my cousin had them out, she had bad pain, and it was infected, they had to drain her mouth D:

I haven't had my wisdom teeth taken out. I did have to have a tooth pulled. It took them near 20 minutes of pulling and pain to get one tooth out! The tooth ended up having really long roots. I was in so much pain during that and after that. It was about 5 days later when the pain went away.

That's what happened to me, but with four of my teeth. XD
One of my tooth's roots had actually fused. It was a nightmare.

The pain should go away within 4 or 5 days if it still hurts you should definately see a dentist bcasue there my be an infection.

UPDATEEE!!!!

Okay so after almost two weeks the dentist finally listened to me when I told him it hurt so bad i couldnt eat or sleep or hardly talk and told him I was sure it was Dry socket. SO he said well most people are crying over dry socket thats why im not convinced, i said i have an extremely high tolerance for pain and this hurts! So he put these little strips in my mouth and the pain went away within an hour! The strips are amazing!!!!! I finally got a full nights rest last night!

That's awesome. When I had my wisdom teeth taken out, it hurt for up to 3 weeks afterward. I didn't have dry socket or anything, but it still hurt. From what I can tell people either get lucky and have no pain, or people are unlucky and have pain for days/weeks. Definitely not fun.

That's awesome! Glad you're feeling better! If you don't mind me asking, what was on those strips?

The strips were medicated....with this god awful tasting medication. hahah. They looked like ittle PH strips or like sandpaper. I have no idea what they are.

i've had mine removed as well =[ i feel ur pain it really sucks.
