Over spring break I get my wisdom teeth removed. I am getting really nervous. I am getting all four removed and guess what..all four are impacted!

For you all that have already had them removed, what am I going to expect afterwards? I will be put under general anestisia. I have been under it in 8th grade when I had a bronch for my asthma. I remember waking up really dizzy and crying.

I actually got my top 2 out today haha. Top 2 were nothing compared to the bottom 2. When I got the bottom 2 out I could barely get out of bed for 2 days and I ended up getting a dry socket which was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. My advice would be do everything in your power to avoid getting one (you can only get them on the bottom) and if you do end up with one (which you shouldn't, it's unlikely I just got unlucky) go get it covered immediately. Bottom ones took about a week and a half because of that for me to feel better but today I got the top ones out and after like a 3 hour nap I was perfectly fine.

Eat soft foods. Ice creams, jello, beverages, soups, mashed potatoes. It helps with the pain.

Honestly, you'll probably be really sleepy afterwards. I was with only a little valium. Just sleep. :)

Oh, and expect drool. It'll happen. :P

Hmm, well it wasn't painful or anything. I woke up a couple hours later perferctly fine, but my family kep looking at me when I stood up like I was going to fall over at any second lol. Some people just are drowsy and stuff afterward... so take it easy. And,yes, drooling happens. Another annoing part is the not eating anything that you have to chew for a whole week. I didn't really have any problems though.

I got all 4 out when I was a freshmen. I was the first out of my friends to get it done so i didnt have any advice to go by so I was expecting the worst. Personally my experience wasnt bad at all. I only remember the doctor to tell me to count to three and i woke up. My cheeks were barely swollen but everyones different. I had Ramen noodles and jello for 3 days and went back to school that monday. It wont be as bad as you think it will, trust me and the best part is everyone caters to your needs =)

I got mine out almost three years ago. It'll be three years on April 10th. All of mine were impacted too. When I woke up I couldn't feel anything. I didn't start to feel anything until later in the day. The next two days were the worst pain wise. I had lots of milkshakes. It was hard to brush my teeth so I had horrible breath :scared:

You're not supposed to drink out of a straw but I did and was fine :rolleyes1 It can cause dry socket and my friend got it without drinking through straws. She said it was HORRIBLE so I guess I'd avoid anything that could cause it. I'm a risk taker though. :rotfl:

I also had bruising even a week later.

Overall there were 2 pretty bad days of pain and then I was ok.

I had a horrible experience. Lots of complications. I won't go into them, because I don't want to scare you. But, everything will go ok.

funny you mention this because i'm in the SAME EXACT situation.
all four removed.
all impacted.

i'm getting them out tomorrow morning at 8.
oy veey

I got mine out a couple years ago, and it was fine. I was really drowsy for a couple days and my mouth was a little sore, but I got through it just fine. Just eat lots of mashed potatoes. Mmmm.

lol, i just got back from getting mine out. i felt like a drunk because of the iv they gave me to knock me out.
i was out within a minute, at the most.
i woke up with a bunch of gauze in my mouth and very disorientated.
i just had some ramen and ice cream, i had food all over my face XD
i just took some amoxicilian to prevent infection and motrin. if the motrin doesn't work i'm resulting to loratab

I'm one of the lucky ones, because my orthodontist said that I'm never going to get my wisdom teeth...thank God. lol

I got my wisdom teeth removed over Christmas break. It really wasn't that bad for me, because they weren't impacted. It took them about 5 minutes to take all four out, and the dentist didn't prescribe any pain meds afterwards. I was freaked out about that at first, because I have a very low pain tolerance, but it turned out that just like, 3 advil did the trick. The worst part for me was the 2 or 3 days of recouping. I was really sore, and all I ate was pudding, but I felt better soon. Just don't worry too much about it. The anxiety building up to it was worse than anything, so just relax.

Okay, since you're in the same situation as me, I'll explain in detail, now that the novicaine and knock out drug has worn off.
It wasn't as bad as I was making it out to be. They took my blood pressure, asked me a few health questions and i was off to the room where they would do my surgery.
They put an IV in my arm, and a drug to knock me out through the IV. It only took me a minute to be knocked out.
Next thing I know, I'm walking out some door to my car, with the nurse and my dad helping me.
I get into the car, and lay back. My friend texts me, and he had no idea what my repsonse said lol.
I get a prescription for amoxicilian (to prevent infection), 800 mg ibuprofin (this was what the doctor suggested I take first, and if that didn't work, take the narcotic), and loratab.
I get home, take the gauze out of my mouth and eat some ramen and ice cream. It ended up all over my face because of the novicaine lol.
After I eat I take the ibuprofin. DO NOT TAKE THIS
It was the worst mistake of my life. The pain was so horrible and was worse than the damage of any braces could do. I ended going downstairs crying and taking the loratab. This beauty kicked in within 15 minutes, thank God.
You'll probably only need the loratab the first day, then the ibuprofin second/third day.
Now I'm just waiting for the bleeding to stop, my jaw is sore though.

Good luck :)

I got mine out 2 years ago and it was horrible. I had 3, all impacted.

I only missed 2 days of school, but it hurt soooooo bad for 3 weeks. They had to put stitches in my mouth and they wouldn't dissolve. They were supposed to dissolve after a few days, but it took over 2 weeks. One of the holes got infected, too. It was disgusting, but I won't go into detail LOL.

Overall, I had a horrible experience - even with the Vicodan they gave me :rotfl:

My friend had hers removed a year after me, and didn't have any problems. She was fine the day after getting them removed. Although, at the time she said "it hurt SO bad and I was in serious pain for a week." But she's a liar and only said that because mine hurt - but that's a WHOLE different story LOL. She later confessed to it not hurting at all.

I don't think you'll have any problems :)
