Do they always have to come out? I have 2 and they don't bother me at all and haven't shifted my teeth. They aren't all the way in yet though- just wondering because I really hate the dentist!

I've got all 4 of mine. They've been in for over 30 yrs. haven't caused any problems. It does seem to be lots of people have problems with them. Both my kids have all 4 of them too.

Lots of people still have theirs, but you do need to make sure you are getting them cleaned regularly. When you say they are not all the way in yet, do you still have a flap of gum tissue covering parts of the teeth? Food does get stuck up in there and can cause decay! I just had to have my bottom two wisdom teeth removed a week and a half ago because of this problem!

I had mine out in my teens and my DD had hers out when she was 20. Hers were growing sideways and endangering the roots of the teeth next to them. It's not really that bad if you have a good oral surgeon remove them. It is VERY expensive if you don't have insurance! Have you checked with your dentist? You would be able to tell on an xray.

Only the dentist can tell you for sure.

My ex-husband still has all of his in, but he has a huge jaw so there's no crowding. :lmao:

i have all four of mine, one does get painful  from time to time but not bad enough that i need it out

I have all of mine. They came in without pain (I didn't even know until the dentist said, "Well, I see your wisdom teeth came in!"), perfectly straight, and I've been able to keep them clean without a bit of trouble. Dentist says, if they're not a problem, no sense in taking them out.

Mine were causing problems with my jaw and crowding my other teeth, so I had them taken out, and I have been pain free ever since. I had all four taken out at the same time and it was really easy for me. I wish I had done it sooner!!

I had all 4 of mine pulled out at once :scared:

I was told if they don't bother you, they can stay in.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you have any problems as far healing time. My son14 will have all 4 removed in the morning. They're impacted and causing him a great deal of pain.

Thanks.
