Wireless Internet Access at BWV???

Is there wireless access anywhere in the Boardwalk Villa's? I think I've seen people using their laptops in the lobby but I'm not totally sure.

I believe I have heard that there is paid wi-fi in the lobby, which is seperate from the paid wired high speed internet in the rooms. DVC members staying on points get the in-room wired internet fee waived, but not the lobby wireless.

I'm a DVC Member and I know we never pay for the access in the room. But this year I'm bringing a little note book that has no ethernet connector so I can only use it in a wireless environment. So you think I'll be charged if I use it in the lobby?

I'll call MS tomorrow and double check.

You could bring a wireless router and make your own wifi hotspot in your room.

If all else fails, bring your laptop out on the BW and sit by Big River Grill and use their wi-fi.

I'd imagine a usb to wired ethernet adaptor may also work, but a router is a better overall solution

Thank you all for your suggestions!! See, it's just me on this trip and I'm well, let just say I'm not "technical". I really don't want to bring the laptop if I have my notebook.

DH loves the suggestions and told me to say "thanks" to you all. He's checking on the adapter or a router and has 20 days to make sure I know how to hook the stuff up!!

That's what we thought but we weren't sure if as DVC Members we'd be charged. Looks like we would be for the wireless access. Doesn't matter; I just want to be able to "connect" while I'm there!!

When I logged onto the wireless in BLT lobby last week, the log on page said DVC would not be charged.

Now I can't confirm if this is true as yet as I am only in the process of joining but it was clearly stated on the page (and this is a different page to that to which you are directed in room)

Another option: if your phone is capable of wifi tethering (many newer ones are) you can go that route. I switched over to that model, and it's very convenient, as long as you can get a signal.

Got my ethernet adapter today and it works like a charm. Thanks again eveyrone for the info. Oh and I called the Boardwalk directly regarding charges and DVC Members are not charged for the Wireless access. I originally called MS and this person had no clue at all about wireless access. So I went directly to the source!! I'm all set; now can I go or do I still have to wait 16 more days???

That's what my husband did this last trip - because I forgot to pack a wireless router.

There were also unsecured networks showing up - a lot of people bring their wireless router to the hotel now and don't bother to secure it for basic browsing.
