Wireless broadband modem??

I have just signed us up for a bundle service that will save us about $55.00 a month, plus we will have broadband and not DIAL UP . I know...I am slow to technology. I need to get a wireless broadband modem. Where do I get them at, what is a good brand and how much do they usually cost?
This is for my laptop. Thanks....I feel soo dumb right now.

There are several "combo" units that are a wireless router, a regular router (use wires) and a cable modem.

Check your laptop to see if it has wireless capabilities built in. Most new, moderately priced ones do.

You could also get seperate units (that's what I have). A cable modem and a wireless router as two seperate pieces. That's what I would recommend because if one part fails on a combo unit, it need to be replaced.

I have a linksys wireless networking card for my Dell laptop and a Linksys router. We've never had any issues whatsoever with either.

At the time I ordered my laptop, I didn't know we were going to have the router, or I would have gotten the wireless card built-in.

I also use my Blackberry as a wireless broadband modem, so now when I switch, I have to slide out the card each time. I'm afraid that this is going to cause wear and tear on it.

I also have the Linksys router. You can pick it up at Best Buy for somewhere around $60. I have not had any problems and I actually just changed cable modem subscribers and did not have any problems.

I just got DSL less than a month ago (it wasn't offered in our area until very recently).

I ended up using the DSL modem they included for free with the sign-up package, then I added a D-Link wireless router.

Actually, I added a Linksys router, but it kept crashing every few minutes (despite updating the firmware) so I brought it back . . . and got another Linksys router that did the same thing.

So I got the D-Link and it's been great ever since. But I know some people have had problems with D-Link as well!
